  • Wow, all I can say is wow...

I wonder how the world would look like if everybody was a little bit more like Jónsi and Alex

  • there's nothing like this video, the birds flying in the sky..the grey sky..with that mysterious sounds...it makes me feel something beautiful inside of me.

  • I've started to listen this song a few minutes ago. And I was feeling very depressive about things which happened. But when I was listening everything was lighten up, and my problems were suddenly solved. Now I feel happy. Thanks Jónsi & Alex!

  • This song makes me think of flying over puget sound in the morning from the water, over the marina, over the train tracks, and it would show the city waking up, pike place starting up..its nice.

  • ..why would anyone dislike this? That just doesn't make sense.

  • Cross your eyes and watch this :O

  • Jonsi & Alex know how to create an good emotional and ambient sound.

For similar inspiration, search for this new song:

The Inituition - Life Changing Moments HD

  • Love it...

  • it makes me feel alive

  • /watch?v=aiK2P1OV6Lc

  • i want to cry :')

  • Just saved my day. Sitting at home, sick as a dog, can't hear a thing and then you watch this, volume up. Wonderful, thanks.

  • The original version of this song was called "Riceboy Sleeps". The name Riceboy Sleeps comes from when Alex and Jonsi were staying in Boston, and Alex always ate rice. Alex was sleeping, and when he woke up, Jonsi was writing this song for him. He called it "Riceboy Sleeps".

  • This is the true meaning of the word Music, not that commercial rubbish thats considered music, all those shitty urban artists sound the same now, as does most dance music, but this little bit of heaven is true musical joy.

This music is anything but depressing, its stunning.

  • Depresses me.

  • The problems of the world melt away only for 6 minutes and 7 seconds, but for that minuscule amount of time I get to experience what true peaceful bliss is.

  • My dog died about two months ago (great cane who had wobbler's syndrom), my brother and I buried her in the country with this playing through the truck speakers, I'd never cried with my brother before, he's kinda quiet, but listening to this brings me right back there and I can't help but weep and think about the moment we shared there and how hard that goodbye was. This song is the only thing that comes to mind when I think of beautiful music; I want it played at my funeral.

  • @Weric91 my dog died two months ago as well, september 1st to be exact, and i was listening to "happiness" that day. there's something about this music that can't be put into words.

i now plan on going to iceland for a month or two next june, with a guitar, and just trying to see if i can find what they have in them to write such beautiful music.

  • simply beautiful..

  • i love how the birds are slightly out of focus. thats how i feel while listening to this song. the whole world around me becomes indefinite and all i can do is breathe and listen.

  • where did the name 'riceboy sleeps' come from? it sounds silly.

  • Kids don't take drugs!

  • perfect, holy shit

  • znowu się rozpada wszystko. O!

  • learning to fly. wanting to fly... fly away...

    love it..

  • This whole album has seriously affected me. I've been aware of it for about a year, Sigur Ros much longer than that, but not until recently did I realize how intricate it is. Only when you listen to it intently with headphones or full volume do you get the full effect, and notice that it is always changing, very purposefully and intently. It's no accident; it's the work of the same master we've known in Sigur Ros, only with something even deeper to say.

  • I really feel it has changed my brain in some way, for better or for worse- I'm a little too in love with it at this point. :)

  • Listen to Brian Eno from years back

  • @Sarah75P

Brian Eno and Jonsi should collab. They are the men.

  • @alanna382 and don't forget sigur ros too

  • solitária liberdade

  • <3 sigur ros!

  • I love this song so much...THis is so incredibly beautiful, breathtaking and somehow makes me sad but also unbelievable happy..THis is the kind of music that keeps me alive....

I hope you don't see this as a spam, but I thought this might interest some of you...

I found a band on youtube called "Nyctalgia"

If you've got time, listen to their song "Lost in timeless horizons"

Incredibly beautiful, dreamy song by this extremely young guy...just give him a chance,,

  • @999TorturesAposida I haven't listened to Nyctalgia for a while now and wanted to listen to them again recently but couldn't remember the name, so thanks for reminding me! :)

  • @999TorturesAposida I haven't listened to Nyctalgia for a while now and wanted to listen to them again recently but couldn't remember the name, so thanks for reminding me! :)

  • @benzo13a Sigur ros, Mogwai, The Album Leaf, This Will Destroy you, Sense of Akasha....

  • I actually dream differently listening to this.

  • om so murderous ahhhh! brother

  • i shit myself when i hear this

  • I love the chill up my spine.

  • I have always felt like flying with Jonsi's music. And, I always imagine I am flying over Iceland and the cold wind is blowing at me..

  • My ears sing.

  • when i listen to his music i feel one with the earth =)

  • his compassion seeps through his music.

  • Absolutely lovely.

  • god this is perfect. you are amazing. i could not have imagined anything better. thankyou so much.

  • Such A Long Sad Day.

This Makes me Feel better all the time

  • I hear this music while looking at some pictures of a guy who died and this helped me to let me sad. I did not know him, but i saw him alive and now he's dead ...

  • every time i listen to this. i get in such a deep mood, i feel like I'm flying, looking at myself in an open field with my laptop, seeing the world in 3rd person. anyone else?

  • that's really weird, or is it. i feel the exact same way...almost like i'm flying with my computer desk and scrolling the world.

  • @Randazzo1234 couldn't have said it better.

  • cause am musician and want to learn the metrics of the song

  • ¿¿what its the tempo of the song??

  • ..to be honest my head ache, my mind frequencies cant catch this yet, maybe in 3 years later i'll be able to enjoy this

  • not heard anything by Riceboy but you can tell Jonsi is still as amazing as ever...i love the music he creates its just filled with such life and emotion, its hard to put into words how it makes you feel which is why i just even try to anymore and i just sit and enjoy :)

  • I was arrested once in Tokyo for a misdeamor and spent 2 weeks in a Japanese holding cell. One of the first things I did after being released was listen to Sigur Ros's album (). The emotion of Jonsi's singing seemed to rise up to meet the supercharged emotions I was feeling after two weeks of playing mindgames with the Japanese police. That's how I feel listen to this song... it is sweeping away the negative vibes I have been feeling all week, and taking me to a higher plane. Jonsi's a genius.

  • @rjsullivan1973 lol, what did you get caught doing>?

  • @Logicfray Singing karaoke and not paying the bill.

  • @rjsullivan1973 i'm japanese. i remember seeing sigur ros in 2006. there weren't too many people at the show. i was laying on the floor staring up at jonsi clutching his guitar in such an idiosyncratic manner. who knew he'd become so well loved. (orry to hear about your misdemeanor. i gave a friend who spent a year in prison in the US a sigur ros album. i do not think he was moved in the same way you were.

  • this is seriously the best thing I've ever seen and listened. I nearly cryed becouse of...idk..it really touched me.

  • @ILoveKillers

Jonsi has a way of bringing out the beauty and fragility of life. Birds are usually good for that representation- weak bones, short lives, yet amazing freedom. The amateur photography makes it seem like it was caught spur of the moment. The film distortion reminds us that it is only a memory now, hence, more fragility. When a few seconds are stretched out to minutes, we notice how many layers of beauty are in them; hence, we become aware of the beauty around us at all times.

  • you're only a ignorant. this is music for the soul.

  • if you play this and daníell in the sea at the exact same time, and watch this video, they seem to match up perfectly.

especially when the rise in voice of daníell in the sea matches the upper swoop of the birds.

  • trying it out now. Pretty awesome.

  • very very nice. thanks for the tip!

  • soundtrack to beauty. sunsets. a dog's smile. the peace between people and coffee. falling in love. birdsong. my heart fills to the brim. dawn breaking it's orangesickle smile into being. every good thing is present.

  • superb video!!! i'm so guna by the album!

  • I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this music.

  • it´s amazing! Que buena canción me gusta desde Sigur Ros, simplemente para escuchar y dejarte llevar.

  • turn it up, fullscreen, sit back and relax.

    :]

  • @colorsinscenes

    Dedication.

For all the souls who are suffering and/or have suffered due to the 2011 Japanese Sendai earthquakes and tsunamis, may you find peace and cessation from your sufferings.

  • Incredibly beautiful song! I enjoyed every single second of all of their songs...! A really great band, this is art what they're doing..It's more than just art, something I personally can't tell in words, but I always can feel it while listening to it..!

    just Wow...!

btw, everybody should Check out the Band called "Nyctalgia" and their song "Falling into Nothingness" and " Time changed everything"

    Great stuff!

It's not my band but it's great and worth checking out

    Youtubesearch: Nyctalgia

  • I checked out Nyctalgia..

    they are really good!! :)

    Thanks :)

    x

  • I checked them out, and I have them dowload as I write this(x

Have you heard of Sigur Ros or Amiina? They are worth checking too!

  • thanks a lot man, for that recomendation

  • Yeah i also saw that too on the cd track listing, all you need to do is delete the song titles which are wrong and type in the correct ones, only two songs i think are wrong. Shame on the record company or whoever made the cd's.

  • This is a different version than on the actual cd. Like the cd one better because there is a choir which I think makes it even more magical and relaxing.

You all just buy the cd, it's wonderful!!!!

  • ok, just found out that on my cd the track info might be wrong. This song on cd is called Boy 1904. Strange things happening.....

  • The loudness of the middle part hurts my ears.... grrr! The rest is awesome.

  • Love.

  • beautiful... kind of reminds me of Rosetta. especially glamorama..

  • does anybody know similar bands, music like this one..*?

  • try to hear Mum, Amiina, Parachutes, Romance of Young Tigers, Kira Kira, Brian Eno.....good luck!

  • the dead texan. stars of the lid. mum.

  • @benzo13a , explosions in the sky

  • @benzo13a Explosions in the sky, God Is An Astronaut, Sigur Ros...

  • @benzo13a Hammock, Kenotic is awesome

  • @benzo13a helios, godspeed you black emperor

  • @benzo13a Sigur Ros :)

  • What Heaven sounds like...

  • If that's the sound of heaven (which I think it is) I'm gonna stop doing bad things to make sure that I get there. ^_^

  • ya if it actually existed

  • The words to describe this are pretty obvious but the feelings induced by it are indescribable.

Amazing, beautiful, serene, melancholic, soulful, surreal, sweet. Etc..etc.

I'm just gonna settle for MARVELLOUS!

    5*

  • JONSI I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • If you like this check out 'Stars of the Lid' - Requiem for Dying Mothers.

More beautiful, lilting drone, and greatly underrated.

  • strangely enough..that is my favorite stars of the lid song. pt 1 of course.

then you must also adore "The Dead Texan" and "Brian McBride".

    ^both so amazing.

  • Absolutley, Stars of the lids songs are just so evocative. Whenever I have a massive dose of work to achieve or assignment to get through their music can really carry me through.

Part Two from atomium is probably my most favourite. That whole album is amazing, the way it builds up a massive, disconcerting emotion without you noticing so when it collapses you're left in the relief of calm silence.

  • i just feel so at ease!

  • This is something that I want to be playing as my funeral concludes. It is absolutely tranquil and peaceful.

  • It's nearly getting ridiculous now. Since '99 Jonsí is a part of the most beautiful music ever, and his train still won't stop. Riceboy Sleeps might even be the best he's done.

  • the one of the most beautiful things I ever heard in my life

  • Amazing.

    On my wishlist

  • Please buy it when it's released. It's worth every penny.

  • Where'd you get it from?

  • ridiculously beautiful

  • i closed my eyes, found myself sit/lying on the beach, and as the night slowly settled and the full moon rose, an old ship came up on the horrizon..

wow what a nice daydream that was!

can't wait to have the full album ^_^

  • beautiful :)

  • I find it so relaxing..

  • So incredibly beautiful. Looking forward to the album !

  • hmm i'm gonna love listening to this record with someone special on a hot summer night :-)

thanks jonsi for being so incredible! looking forward to the next sigur ros material too!

  • Words cannot describe how amazing this is...

Riceboy Sleeps is human in a profound and verging-on spiritual way. It says nothing, literally, and yet living through its 68-minutes you emerge feeling much has been revealed. Its slowly evolving abstract landscapes are both edifying and life-affirming. the record works as a whole, and exists in a contemplative dream-state, unconstrained and mesmeric, seemingly outside time.

This album is going to be released on July the 20th.

  • Codownie tych dzwiekow sluchac...The Best!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wonderful!

  • uff

  • When it starts, it sort of sounds like soothing music for a gray, rainy day. Then it turns all epic and stunning. I love the beautiful footage, too.

  • so tranquil. i love watching birds fly in sync. great collab.

  • ambient musicscape at its best!!! This is taking me years ago, when i was listening to brian eno's ambient albums non-stop. . . and riceboy sleeps are that good!!!

  • This is roughly...189X's better than hollywood undead.

  • quite an interesting comparison. i agree none the less.

  • I too will one day come.

  • el 20 de julio sale a la venta su disco. lo voy a comprar.

  • felicidades wei

  • AweSomE!!!

  • No I know your not affiliated.

  • Good news- the album has been set for a july 20 release in Europe! :D

  • This is awesome!! and who are rice boy sleeps? i am aware of them just who are they?

  • riceboy sleeps is a small art project of jonsi (lead singer of sigur ros) and his boyfriend. i am not affiliated. i simply brought their video to youtube.

  • Sigur ros ;) but i'm sure you know that now ;)

  • Yes. Sigur ros writes some of the most beautiful music i've ever heard.

I really wish jonsi and his boyfriend would put some this stuff on itunes or something.

  • They have an album out this summer I think- they've been recording it in the jungle :D

  • omg this is beautiful, i love jonsi

  • i am in love.

    jonsi is wonderful.

  • turn up the volume

  • life is beautiful

  • RICEBOY SLEEPS seems to always manage to put me in a state of peace and make my mind reach that happiness which is only reached through simplicity

  • So peaceful full of tranquility

  • beautiful!

  • perfect

  • wow this is amazing love it!

  • I get chills when I watch this stuff

  • me as well. sometimes we surprise ourselves when we are touched by art that is so simple yet so powerful. for maybe a brief moment life itself can seem so simple and beautiful.

  • well said...i get chills down the back of my neck when songs like these surround me with their warm beauty - if you haven't listened to sigur ros really loud on some nice headphones or speakers you haven't started living yet

  • Sigur Ros on loud headphones is just mindblowing. It really is. Never thought that music could make you feel so many different emotions, its crazy, but so beautiful!

    x

  • Jónsi! sigur ros are soooooo fantasmically awesome!!

  • "play both videos at the same time..." this is from alex on the Riceboy Sleeps Myspace page. I did and it's beautiful.

  • I'm doing this right now...it's amazing.

  • Wow, wow, wow and rewow. This is so peaceful.

  • I've got to agree with everybody who left a comment so far. This was perfect.
