Uploading Videos with The Flip Video Camera

My flip video camer doesn't pop up with software, and I have a Vaio laptop. Does the camera have to be fully charged in order to edit your videos and upload them?

@CaiKin8 I have never used one that needs to be charged. Mine all take 2 AA batteries and yes, it does go through batteries quickly, especially when you are making lots of videos. but even when the batteries were low, I can always upload and edit videos once it is plugged into the USB. From there I use, Movie Maker to edit. I use mine on my Sony VAIO with no problem. Laptop is about 5 years old.

HELP...SOS...When I plug it in, no software pops up. I had it installed initially on another computer, which is now broken. SO...how can i get all my videos back??? AND, how can I continue to upload all my newest videos??? THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP....

@earthalien77 if you are using a PC, you should have everything you need. If you are using a MAC, then you will need to install software to convert new vids for use with iMovie,

You must have a slow computer if it takes much time to upload. I just uploaded a 2 minute HD video and it took about ten minutes. Flip is great, too bad they went out of business cuz they were cheap and took good video.

ok so i have a flip camara and the flipshare editor is really bad.. so i uploaded everything i recorded,, in windows live movie maker and edit it............once i save it and upload iy onto youtube its not HD someone PLEASE PLEASE help :'( D:

@MrLDustin1 check your Upload speed. Slow upload speeds (low speed internet connection) equates to lengthy upload times.

well this didnt help at all. i wanted to kno how to upload videos cuz with mine,i click on upload to youtube then i type in my username and password and then it says login failed. try again. so i try again but it does the same thing over and over again and i really want my beautiful singing videos on youtube!!!!!!!

Strangely, I can't upload anything from my flip. I record the video, plug it in, then Windows Media Center comes up. I click on Flip Share, but I can't find any of my videos.

Greg- just happened to catch your video- I just got a FLIP and making videos is a breeze however when I uploaded to You Tube my 2 minute video took over 35 minutes to upload. Is that normal or just my system limitations? I have high speed and Windows XP. Maybe I need more of something on my system for faster uploading time? I typically make 10 to 15 minute videos but that is libel to take hours to upload. Any suggestions?- PolarB ;)

@PolarB36 When you say you have high speed, do you actually know what your "upload" speed is? You can test your download and your upload speeds for free, very easily via this website: testmyspeed[dot]com

Your speeds can very from day to day, and even throughout the day.

You may want to upgrade your speed via your Internet service provider.

The faster your upload speed, the less time it will take to upload your videos to YouTube.

I also used a kodac camera also. but i got a flip for christmad. i updated the flip channel and i would plug in my flip camera, and it would say it wouldn be able to read it or an unexpected error occured. Please help!!

@MrAwsomeproductions  that is strange...I have never had that issue. Double check your instructions, the Flip is a piece of cake to transfer videos to your pc. I do not use the Flip shareware. I simply shoot videos, transfer them to my computer, then import them to WMM and edit them, save and then upload to whatever site I want.

@GregMcMahon101 yeah thats my problem also WMM doesnt take MP4 files which is what my flip uses. I just want to get videos to youtube but i cant because of its MP4 file. ill check again soon .

Grr I have a Kodak Z712 IS and it simply won't uplaod videos!! I made a video and went to computer under start menu then I see the videos, and when I try to upload them to say Windows Movie Maker, it just doesn't come up, it says it's loaded but it's not there as an option to drag onto the clip thing! @Zhuniiverse I have never used the Kodak, but it should have come with it's own software for uploading.....check your instructions that came with the camera.

I really wanna flip camera, but when I went to the store to buy one,(i was gonna get the flip video camera before this kodak one) there was none in stalk, so I just decided to buy this kodak camera. But the problem is, it says for me to make an address book on the camera, and to do that, I need to download the Kodak EasyShare software. I don't know if i can figure out how to put an addresss book on the camera..

@paintballerguy1 Video uploading takes a fast Internet connection to work properly....maybe you have other programs running too?

When i upload a video from flip - it gets to a certain stage (about 80%) and then stops and I get a message" not responding". I have Windows Vista Premium.

I have tried to reinstall the software a few times.

When uploading choose 'computer' > 'flipvideo' > 'DCIM' > ' 100video' > ( your video). this is for windows)
