This guy is a hack - quantum physicists are saying this 'one energy' is conscious. What babble, and an odious misinterpretation, and foolish attempt to harness quantum mechanics for some cheap hucksterism. @thegreatdant physicists go only as far as claiming that this One Field Energy is within and without. Spiritualists go the distance and say that hey, maybe this is the God Factor they talk about. Its like the elephant in the room physicists try to avoid. Because no one wants to dedicate their lifes work and come up with something like 'god did it'. Surely they'll be a laughing stock. Max Planck talked about this Matrix of creation. Gregg Braden is a physicist who talks of this at length

@scientheism My objection to this, is not that this has never been talked of in physics, but rather that this guy is harnessing the mysteriousness of quantum mechanics to give what he is flogging a certain validity, without having to explain the connections between the two. His talk of the oneness of polarities is confused. He talks of two sides of a polarity(eg good and evil) being the same thing while remaining dichotomist,

@thegreatdant I know where you're coming from, and believe me you, i've been there, infact im still there. Its not hard to be a physicist or an engineer, its a numbers game, and you gotta love math, not necessarily be a genius at it, because arithmethics and symbol memory (think formulae), are attributed to the right brain and not the left brain, contrary to popular beliefs. Many people are severely right or left brain oriented. We find these people in the gamut between liberals v conservative.

@thegreatdant to explain, But even buddha talked about it, call it yin yang. yin isn't necessarily evil and yang isn't necessarily good, and vice versa. can you say vegetarians are good and meatarians are bad? no. Buddha talks abt the middle path. Instead of picking a side, do away with sides altogether. Be neutral wherever you can, and morality is nothing but a consensus reality agreed upon by groupthink and whatever is deemed instinctually appropriate. Its a virtue of good, but not good itself

@thegreatdant Jung and Freud knew this, the mind is the "devil". Many thought experiments produced confounding results. The average person will think of a new thought every 6 seconds, ADD or not. and not unplesant thoughts either. Mediation is a way to silence the mind. When the mental chatter subsides, The law of conservation of linear momentum decrees that something replaces what was once there. It is the emptiness that facilitates pineal and pituitary activation.

@scientheism My own knowledge of meditation is limited (in fact I wouldn't know where to begin in a practical sense). I am aware of its proven medical benefits. My reticence comes from the language of the likes of Bill Harris. It's quite spiritualist and almost devoutly Eastern to the point of negating the richness of Western philosophy. Rarely have I heard their ilk invoke the genius of Spinoza, Socrates, Kant or Hume,

@thegreatdant Sorry for the delayed response, my internet brokedown, its true that meditation has proven medical benefits, but thats only because the effects are spiritual, and the physical benefits are side effects. Western philosphy is relatively new, and is confined and defined by the robustness of the language used to describe it. In which case, sanskrit and chinese ideogram, has symbolical and orthographical characters impossible to transcribe into romanized english.

@scientheism their collective meditations being paramount to our current understanding of how we think. The idea of attaining a state of enlightenment sounds alarm bells for me. I could be wrong but doesn't the idea of attaining a goal of enlightenment run contray to the dialectic flux of all things. In your previous comment you wrote rather astutely that morality is nothing but a consensus reality. A truely brilliant turn of phrase the truth of which is undeniable.

@thegreatdant Yes, I would agree, that meditation seems like a dead end, but thats only because of the westernization of yoga, TM, and the like, thats made into something of a routine exercise. Its butchered by unqualified teachers with borderline or no knowledge of the real thing. The real purpose is to energize your chakra centers, all of which has been proven by science, look up 'kirlian photography'.

@scientheism We, as conscious beings who have to live within this consensus reality are at all times at the mercy of the dialectic flux. My question is, if I or one of my fellow mammals reaches this goal of enlightenment, am I therefore not subject to the same levels of synthesizing polarities as the my brothers as sisters who have not been enlightened? If the answer is yes then I have to exist in a stoic acceptence of even the greatest horrors.

@thegreatdant Just believing in meditation does no good whatsoever. Impossible to achieve enlightenment. Meditation is the method, not the only one, but the most preliminary and rudimentary to achieve an OBE or astral projection. This is where enlightenment occurs. You travel to places far beyond, interdimensional regions, multidimensional physics acknowledges these places as probabilities in 'brane theory', which exists.

@scientheism If the answer is no, then I am simply no more or less enlightened than anyone else. This is the tautology which baffles me - 'Don't try to achieve enlightenment, be enlightened.' This is circular and demands the impossible. Sorry for the rambling - this is just something I'm attempting to get my limited brain around.

@thegreatdant My point is, never look for inner wisdom from outer sources. The only way to know for sure is experiencing it urself. Doubt actually helped me find the right direction. Dont believe anything you hear and half of what you see. Science still has a long way to go in the purview of spirituality. One way to unlock the pineal center (the cheating way), is by taking psychedelics like magic mushrooms, LSD, DMT, or supplements like galantamine, melatonin, choline. the hard way is meditation

@scientheism truth be told, sorry to be so righteous but you'll never find the answer is you ask the wrong questions. Spiritualists are not bothered with what happens in the world. The root word is 'Spirit', acknowledging that you are more than a mechanistic cluster of cells weaved together perchance elegently by a nature so random yet curiously organized. Socrates said 'Men, know thyself'. Give meditation a try, its a simple thought experiment.

@scientheism Thanks - your response is more succint than most of the so called 'gurus' I've heard backing their views only with pseudo science. One thing still bothers me though.. When you say 'Spiritualists are not bothered with what happens in the world.' what does that mean? Does it mean turning a blind eye to the very real suffering of others? Are you able to expand on that a bit, because at the moment it sounds quite solipsistic?

@thegreatdant I will qualify my statement, spirit is the ontological primer. looking through the lens of science to explain that which is spiritual is like using a microscope to count the rings on saturn. Not that it cannot be done, science has only come thus far. What i mean by not being bothered is that time and space is an illusion. Time is not linear, it can be quantified and manipulated, sped up, slowed down, and halted, thats what quantum physics tells us. Every thing that is happenign
