@Identify597 the nvidia gpu is onboard. Model no. G9300 - It's not super powerful tbh and struggles to handle interlaced HD material, but for everything else its fine. I think the newer models of the ION brand are more powerful and can handle interlaced HD material.
@fantasmaofdoom Really? Theres absolutely tons of slot loading slimline drives on ebay and they're mostly SATA. I got mine from Hong Kong for around £50 a year ago. I don't think it was brand new, but it works just great.
And if you are talking about the connector on the drives? I can't remember if it's standard SATA, but I do believe I have a special cable that has the power line and data integrated at one end and the other end has a floppy style power connector and SATA.
nice looking system though as far as making it as small as possible, if you left out the optical drive you could, even with a giant heat sink. I haven't yet checked out the full build of the project, but an OEM heatsink for the cpy might help reduce the size some too since you could tighten the ssd closer to it on top
On the 9300 G-E mobo it's a wireless G usb addon card. I used it one night while I was setting it up in another room to my router. It seemed to work perfectly fine, but I haven't run any extensive tests with it as where I'm using the machine has gigabit ethernet cable.
All in all it's a great board for a media PC and I'd recommend it in a heart beat.
Just to note: There's a newer revision out now "GF9300 I-E"
@nicolasrogervais I am using the Zotac GF9300 G-E (revision 4) mobo. It's Socket 775 and the cooler is a Scythe BIG Shuriken. It's so quiet you can't hear its running. My Plasma TV makes more noise!
I'm just trying to make a video update of the project now actually. I pray I will get this recorded and uploaded this century. :-p
@swatus It's very cool, I can't feel any heat coming off it when i was testing it last. There will be ventilation holes at the back at the top and along the bottom of the case to the left and right. I will show it in my next video when I've got a bit more of the case done. Hopefully in a few days.
@LeJimster Update to this: It's much hotter with the case on even with the ventilation I've put in. The heat just builds up so fast, I was quite surprised.
@logitechmartin yes, you are correct.. I will be using some kind of rubber to insulate and help keep it in place. Not sure exactly what material to use just yet. but I will probably make a "pocket" for the bluray to go in by gluing it to the alu bottom.
Latest photos on my forum show it fixed with the pillars, I hope to do more work on it soon and post another update.

@sharpanator
maybe if you're running a gaming rig sure. But not if you're running a computer that will mostly be used just for watching movies, tv shows, and etc.

Jesus do you really need a heatsync that huge for a HTPC? Hell you'd most likely be fine with passive cooling.

Question How are you going to connect the blu ray?
I can't find a slimline dvd player with sata :(

Is that the Zotac IONITX F-E motherboard? If so, which CPU cooler is that? Looks like a Xigmatec? Great project, would like to see some more on this.

make sure to put something like foam betwen the motherboard and your bluray drive because it can shortcut eaven betwean the bluray and the case
