You cant use powdered Dye, you have to use chemicals that alter the color. Example. Add copper powder to the mixture.

to color it u need potassium CHLORATE noob ... not nitrate

never put baking soda in nitrate smoke bombs that slow the burning and do less smoke try to mic 50 g potassium nitrate and 50g sugar ... cook it to yellow collor not brown .... like peanut butter and ur smoke bombs gonna be crazy man

Uk aswel and I used like some orange stuff made by

Company called dylon and it makes the stuff harden black.

Which sucks know of any better dye?

next time try not using baking soda it causes your mixture to burn too hot and dark in the pot. that's why you saw it expand the way it did.

I used a cardboard tube of sweets, like the kind we often have around Christmas here in the UK.

I guess a toilet roll tube would do, but you might want to block up one end of it with something (something not made of plastic).

The smoke bomb made smoke... Admittedly not coloured. And at least it shows the idea in principle. I think I'm going to have to give it another try though... See if I can perfect the mix and get better results.

@StubieTube you need to use potassium chlorate , sugar and dye potassium nitrate. does not color the smoke

I've got plenty of ingredients left over. I'll just have to get some orange dye and give it a go. Apparently blue works quite well too.

You can get potassium nitrate from eBay. It cost me £6 to get 450g delivered. It's plant fertiliser, so you might be able to find it at B&Q or something. :)

eBay's the cheapest place I've seen it.

Yeh search for kno3 in eBay and theres a 900g (quite alot) batch for £4 + £4 P&P or just go to your local gardening centre or hardware store and look for KNO3/Salt Petre/Postassium Nitrate stump remover

I got mine from a framing shop like a rural store you can only get 25 kg bags just say you need it to get your veges going good as long as you dont buy more than 1 bag you should be right
