I have a question you might be able to answer: How do you transfer an OS to a new drive? I'm thinking of purchasing an SSD and replace one of my two HDDs that's not being used and instead, transfer my OS to the SSD for a faster booting time.
Run Windows Backup to External and create Windows Bootable Recovery Disk.
The backup image will restore on any size disk. If you're using home edition, you may need to goto Programs and Features from control panel. Click on Turn Features on or off. Enable Windows Backup... Its been a while since I played with home edition. So You could always goto microsoft "Ask" support from forums.
@MrVincent101291 I'm afraid the best way to do this is to install the windows on to the new SSD. Copy pasting files doesn't let it work properly if at all. However, using easy transfer it will be very easy to transfer all the files. Put the CD into the drive and press install, then select custom not upgrade when you have the choice, then choose the drive you want to install it on (the SSD), and you will have windows installed on it.
Awesome video! Very simple and highly effective. Just a positive feedback - Would have been better if you showed that the user data actually transferred fine and everything went to its respective place. AGAIN, THANKS A LOT.
@jassy0479 Hehe, well I was kinda limited with computers at the time (this is the first tutorial I made) and I only used one computer for the whole thing.
I am using a cable for xp to windows 7, but it keeps telling me there is no connection. I have installed easy transfer and the cable is plugged into both the computers. Plz help someone!
I need some help about the windows easy transfer. I used the windows easy transfer to copy my original files on my PC to my external drive and then I recovered my PC to the original factory settings. When I tried to restore my PC from the easy transfer, it did not copied the folders in my windows mail program which was my only concern. Is there a way of doing it? Thank you for your reply in advance...

will the transfer of files erase the files on the old hard drive?
marineandi 5 months ago
@marineandi No, this only copies the files and folders, nothing is going to be deleted or changed on the original computer.
