The countries that are included in Scandianvia depends on the definition. The most strict definition only include Denmark, Norway and Sweden. However, if you loosen it, the definition can also include Greenland, Iceland, Finland, Aland and the Farroes.

I too am from Norway, but I don't find it insulting at all, I just get amused by people's ignorance :) Scandinavia consists of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, however, there is also something called Fennoscandinavia; Norway, Sweden and Finland. Then there are the Nordic countries, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland.
Many foreigners confuse these three terms, but I honestly don't blame them.

Try doing a search under just the word Scandinavian ...You will see an abundance of items posted there from Finnish people. Just for the record, I have a great affinity for Finns and have seldom met one that I didn't like! They have always been very kind and friendly to me, and that's what impresses me the most!

Scandinavia = Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Aka the Scandinavian peninsula. The other countries, even tho they may be Danish colonies or whatnot, are not part of scandinavia. :P A common missunderstanding is that Finland and sometimes even Iceland is included. However that's not the case. None will blame you if you include Finland as a scandinavia country, tho. I too thought they were scandinavian for the longest time. (I'm Swedish)

Sweden, Norway and Denmark (iceland) are quite equal. Infact, if it wasnt for a little mistake, they would have been the same contry :-S so theres a small amount of difference which doesnt stop inhabitants of other countries to say scandinavia instead of one of the countries.

I am not from France, but I believe that's where 1100caroline is from. I am an American and have some Scandinavian friends. They make sure that I know the difference between Scandinavia and Norden :)

The countries that are included in Scandianvia depends on the definition. The most strict definition only include Denmark, Norway and Sweden. However, if you loosen it, the definition can also include Greenland, Iceland, Finland, Aland and the Farroes.
Culture-wise they're all quite similiar.
Also, I'm Scandinavian, and you're not welcome here, Jonas Bro.

I too am from Norway, but I don't find it insulting at all, I just get amused by people's ignorance :) Scandinavia consists of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, however, there is also something called Fennoscandinavia; Norway, Sweden and Finland. Then there are the Nordic countries, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland.
Many foreigners confuse these three terms, but I honestly don't blame them.

Try doing a search under just the word Scandinavian ...You will see an abundance of items posted there from Finnish people. Just for the record, I have a great affinity for Finns and have seldom met one that I didn't like! They have always been very kind and friendly to me, and that's what impresses me the most!

And still some historican and geographs includes estonia as a nordic country, much because of the culture and the language. Also many estonians consider themselves to be nordic rather than baltic (or eastern european).

Scandinavia = Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Aka the Scandinavian peninsula. The other countries, even tho they may be Danish colonies or whatnot, are not part of scandinavia. :P A common missunderstanding is that Finland and sometimes even Iceland is included. However that's not the case. None will blame you if you include Finland as a scandinavia country, tho. I too thought they were scandinavian for the longest time. (I'm Swedish)
