  • Ok, for everyone saying that Geisha were "whores" no they were not; and is something sprung up from Memoirs of a Geisha (which is a good film, but highly incorrect - the writer even got sued by Mineko Iwasaki, for falsly telling her story). In fact, the tradition of apprentice Geisha (Maiko) becoming full Geisha through Mizuage (prostitution to the highest bidder) is a false concept, which occured during war time where anyone could dress up as Geisha and then "entertain" their clients.

  • @nessasONLINEshow Thanks for the explanation! Very much apreciated :) hope you enjoyed the video at least :P x

  • Why is only the face white?

  • @rockchickhotaru15 I didn't feel like painting the rest :) I didn't wear this on the day for a party, and as I said in the video, traditionally you have to paint the neck and chest area, but it would be too much work for me to execute and record. It is just a general idea for a party look, it isn't supposed to be taken as a real tutorial! Thanks for watching! x x

  • @kindagorgeous oh ok thnks for answering....your are really talented by the way...:)

  • @rockchickhotaru15 Well some say that only the face is supposed to be white, that it's supposed to look like a mask. :3

  • this is like being a dancer for halloween. Geisha are not things to fear . thy ar artisans who sell their talents. (ven if they were sometmes forced to sleep with their clients)

  • @Kyouryouku00 I never said it was some fearsome. Many people dress up like "good" characters for halloween too, like fairies, cartoon characters and heroes. This tutorial is only aimed for the fun factor, halloween is an opportunity, if not the only one if you are an adult, to play around with costumes! Thanks for watching!

  • @kindagorgeous I'm sorry if i came off hostile. I just...I always hear that Geisha (refered to as Geisha girls) are whores when yes, they did have to sleep with their clients when forced to do so, but the actual whores were the Geesha girls from the war when...ah nevermind. It's just me being silly. I'm sorry

  • @Kyouryouku00 It's ok, I understand what you mean, I know they actually were some time ago forced to do some more intimate entertaining jobs, keeping the manners here ;) , but they look awesome anyway, and I'd like to believe they are an state of art, and if they still do it (atteding clients), they do because of their choices, not because they are being forced.

  • A Maiko is a apprentice Geisha.

  • @Brebre7534 Oh! Thanks for letting us know! I never really made a proper research about the names - shame on me! Thanks for watching!

  • @kindagorgeous Your welcome!

  • Really good

  • PRETTY!!

  • I love it. I admire geishas and I think what you did is a very good job! It looks so good, and you look a little bit Asian with that makeup on :D

  • Hmmmmm, I don`t know what your nationality is, but you are much more beautiful than the natural Japanese gejshas......may be just because I am an European :-)

  • @MissNephrit Hi :) I'm actually brazilian, with spanish and native brazilian indians backgrounds. This isn't supposed to be a real Geisha look, I did it only for fun because I adore it so much :)

  • PRETTY!

  • that's it!! nice :)

  • Those people who rated thumbs down are stupid! Your explanation is very clear and more realistic than most of the geisha makeup videos on this site.

  • Just wondering, are you hispanic? I am. At first, I thought you were actually Asian because of the accent you have and the makeup was well done and brought out a slant in your eyes which is typical of Asians. Great job! : )

  • i reallyy reallyy realllyy wanna be this for halloween!!! do u have any places i can get my costume??????? because i cant find any :( thanks for the helpp :)

  • @ashley102497 Hi Ashley! Unfortunately I can't give you any local suggestions, because I live in Germany now and Halloween here isn't really a major party. But I bet many Fancy Dress/ Costumes websites will have something available at this time of the year. Just type Geisha Fancy Dress on google :) Thanks for watching and happy Halloween! x x

  • @ashley102497

you can go to any halloween store, like Party City, if theres one where you live.

    or like a kimono.

  • I just found this tutorial for the first time, and I think what you did is the best maiko-style tutorial I ever saw! Lots of gurus drive me crazy because so many confuse Japanese geisha with Hong Kong opera costume.

  • @dustiroses Thank you very much! I'm glad that you liked it :D x

  • Great tutorial and beautiful make up!!

  • @TheGracefulDead Thanks! x

  • You are very welcome!!

  • You're makeup is BEAUTIFUL!! It looks TOTALLY like the real deal! You did very well! And you pronounced "maiko" and "geisha" just fine. I am glad to see a tutorial by someone who really makes it look right!! Way to go!!

  • Thanks you so much for your kind words! Means a lot to me! thanks for watching x x x

  • I love this! I think it is the closet to a true traditional geisha look I can find! Great job

  • Thanks, I tried my best, but I know it could have been much better! Thanks for watching and commenting x x

  • At the 8 second mark you have lipstick on your teeth

  • Thanks for noticing :D Next time I'll do the finger trick! and thanks for watching!

  • Pretty close, but not there yet. Also, painting the neck and back is the most important and elegant part on transforming into geisha or maiko. Good try though. =)

  • You did the look pretty well. I would've gone on to whiten my neck too.

  • Thanks for your comment! As I told in the video, I decided not to cover my neck to save time. I'm sorry sometimes my voice is really low, my microphone is not the best, but I will improve it soon. x x

  • Nice job with the eyebrows. You chose a really nice red lip color, too!

  • Thank you! I very much appreciate your comment and view x x

  • you did an AMAZING JOB ON THIS!!!!

  • GAY

  • uh la la uuii

  • This is lovely - so pretty and so exact. Its really nice to see a halloween look that would be possible for lots of people to achieve, its refreshing with all of the extremely complex ones that are around this year. You have shown that simple can be very effective! :)

  • I like to keep it simple! I loved the complex ones, but personally wouldn't go for those in first place - knowing how lazy I am.. - Anyways! I always wanted to try this look on me to see how it looks like, I had fun with it :D thanks for commenting x x x

  • Superb makeup video...You have made an awesome geisha!

  • Aww, Thanks a lot! Although I don't look similar to a traditional Japanese Geisha, but I tried my best, it's really a beauty icon :D

  • I think it`s a great Geisha makeup. And you do look beautiful done as one:)

  • This is just beautiful, love it!
