  • I Have NEVER Seen An Otis Lexan Elevator In My Entire Life!

    Thanks For Posting.

  • This past July, my wife and I visited my son and his family in NC, they took us to Myrtle Beach, SC, because we had never been to the beach before. We stopped to get gas here and i didn't know you could ride this. I scared of heights, but I would liked to have rode this. Good post, thank you.

  • I was there that same day

  • I stopted there in 09 it was wierd! (On the way to FL)

  • the elevator operator is my fiancee!!! :D

  • Lol, I was the elevator operator in this video. I didn't actually think you'd post it.

  • wow lots of writing what town is that?

  • Very cool of the wide veiw the land isn't!!!

  • plsesemman

  • why do you have to pay a doller

  • i just came from their...lol

  • The door is locked because it is a tourist TRAP! Hence the term "TRAP" lol

  • I love the Otis buttons on this elevator :D

  • good thing the guy didn't care about you filming.

  • @Elevator3322 the tower is 165 feet tall...around 16 floors. It was built in the late 70's. My first/last time on it was back in '79 when it was new.

  • this is my hometown...i cant wait to leave this shit ass place

  • That is a really really old elevator. Dang

  • I think I passed by this place on my travels once. Very cool.

  • pretty crappy place....

only a single slow old elevator, full of graffity, locked emergency exit, so no way to get off there if the power goes out...

  • nice scenic elevator that came out the '70s

  • This elevator screams 1970's.

  • The upstairs really could do with a lick of paint and I'm suprised that elevator would have passed it's inspection in 2003 if the doors wouldn't stay shut.

  • When I was in NC, we've traveled on 95 many times, and driven past this. I never knew there was an elevator that went up that far when I drove by it.

  • AWESOME place! was gonna go to it on the way back to the mtns of NC a few years ago but didnt, I wish I could go. :(

  • I been in a Northwestern/Dover Elevator with buttons on both sides.

  • Suprised it wasn't a HIGHdraulic..

  • Nice elevator but locking the emergency exit door not cool. That's a fire hazard.

  • I stopped there when I drove back from Florida with my grandparents in 1998. I really didn't have any recollection of the elevator. This video really brought back memories, as they've both passed on now...

  • So sad to see such a cool place in such poor condition.

  • how do you leave if the elevator stalls?

  • Geeze, I remember riding that back in 2003 on a trip back home to NJ. It was in such bad shape the lady operating it had to hold the doors shut. :P

  • lol, that elevator operator probably thought you were insane. Nice video!

  • I was there, back in 1983.

  • This is a rare moment, where the building (Observation Sombrero, in this case) is a death trap, and the elevator is not.

Hate to be up there if there is a fire!

  • If you come to Myrtle Beach,SC, please tell me!

  • There is one like that in Polo Park in Winnipeg MB.

  • awsome i love it i wonder how many floors up it went that was very cool when i am up that way ill stop there to ride it for myself

  • Nice elevator!
