I hope one day we'll see a good documentary of the US Army's Philippine Scouts, and the Guerilla Forces that followed the formal surrender of USAFFE. Their stories are very often overlooked, and are a testiment to both American and Filipino military histories.
IMHO, its a shameful part of US history that congress, in beginning her road to independence, stripped Filipinos of their US National status, and the lack of veteran benifits to USAFFE soldiers.

The sad thing is that the US was unable, or unwilling to assist the soldiers of USAFFE. Without the major battle fleet to defend shipping, and thus the ability to reinforce garissons through out the Pacific, those bases were left to the wrath of the advancing Japanese forces.
The allies could have sent forces north from Australia via the Dutch East Indies...

Film Director Rainer Loeser under United Movietone Pictures has made some of the best WW11 documentaries I have seen including Siege Of Corregidor. He is currently in Far North Queensland making 'Silent Predator' It is one of the most dangerous shoots he's involved in. Look forward to seeing the film, when it is released.

I'm not angry about americans. In fact I'm happy that they help us liberate filipinas from japanese tyranny. However I feel bad that the filipino soldiers was left in the shadows of american soldiers thinking that it was all america who done the job on fighting japanese in filipinas. What ever happend to the filipino soldiers who went underground and fighting the japanese while the americans are busy fighting at guadal cannal give them a little honor and respect you know.

i personally know a man who was at Corregidor, who told me by the time he was freed he was down to skin and bones. He said he would never buy a Japanese car, period. He was still bitter, this was in about 1996 or 1997
