@Timelord90 hmmm... The Daleks are a lot harder to kill and can kill from farther away. But the Vs are bigger in number, so it might be a pretty even fight. Probably the Vs would win in the end... Now, if it were between Vs and Cybermen... the Cybermen would pwn V butt. ;D
@PaddySnuffles you i once thought about Doctor Who/ V crossover, the Vistors wud form an aliance with the Silurians & Sea Devils The Master wud be in on it but it be disovered that the Daleks (reseiving desstres call from earth are) league with the v's The Timelords also reseive the message from earth so they send some of their agents infultrate which wud explaine why Diana & her people wud want arrest so many sciantist
3:23 Dominique Dunne's only shot in the V Miniseries. She was Killed by her ex boyfriend by strangulation. She was cast as Robin, but the tragedy left the role vacant, and Blair Tefkin was given the role to replace her. She was best known for her role as Dana Freeling in 1982's Poltergeist by Stephen Spielberg.
@bridesheadtube well actually there were 3. The one you mentioned (Elias); Ben (his brother - who turned the tv on in the room where Julie and the doctors were); and their father (Caleb Taylor).
lol wow I was so young them times need to re-watch everything i remember being addicted and scared... thank goodness the black man in the new one isn't a teef lol how far we have come :)
Dominique Dunne filmed scenes playing Robin Maxwell but she was killed during filming. I heard the director kept in a shot her from behind in the final film. SO IS THAT HER AROUND 3:33?
yo dumbass.... did you notice they had a black scientist working in the lab? The reality is there were a lot more black burglars out there than black scientists. So shut your soup cooler, fool. At least a black man was depicted as an educated professional being a scientist.
Lord, the minute that douchebag said "It's fantastic", I knew he was going to some Judas damage. I LIVED for this series back when I was a kid. SO good.
I don't think it is fair to say that it is stealing the plot from Childhood's End, it's more like paying homage to it. Besides, in Childhood's End the aliens were benevolent and very inhuman looking. almost opposite of the Visitors.
lol I remember when I was a kid and watched the black guy without realizing he was committing a robbery. All I thought to myself is he had an odd way to enter back to his house to watch his television XD
It's funny that Eleanor Dupree is like, "I didn't hit her, she was coming straight at me, I didn't hit her," but Eleanor was TOTALLY on the wrong side of the road!
if a race were advanced enought to have developed technology to traverse the universe, then it is highly doubtful that they would want much to do with us. They would probably have survived their technological revolution and would be much more advanced. Still, this series is awesome given it was made in the 80s.
I JUST BOUGHT the series after this one. I was so upset that I didn't get this one first. But its not disappointing. I ordered this first series on DVD can't wait to get it. Thanks every so much for posting this. HUGS
That's a good one. LOL!! Although, I have found out recently, and I still quiver in horror at the thought, I'm distantly related to both President Bush's (both 41 & 43; something like 5th cousins once removed, we share w/ 43 a great-great-grandfather in Prescott Bush through my maternal grandmother).
Just like the US Air Force to fire missiles at a UFO first. I have to agree with Spanishrage, our species is the most dangerous on this planet, instead of trying to live together with our differences (which I believe makes us human) we destroy others who are "different" and cause war around the planet (which makes us animals). Great series though!
And you can see that "V" stole the idea from the novel "Childhood's End" by Arthur C. Clarke, which also has hundreds of alien ships hovering over the world's cities. That book was written about 30 years before "V". In this clip, they even acknowledge that when one of the characters says "Ray Bradbury was just on (the TV) with Arthur Clarke".
The REAL inspiration for V was the rise of the Nazi party in Germany, although a crib here or there would be likely. And it's cool that they gave credit where it was due.
the uniform, the logo, the friendly approach at first, by the time we knew their intentions it wasy too late because we allowed them to get so strong, the systematic genoicide, the human collabotars, the underground resistance in the occupied territory, I could go on forever
Not really stealing any ideas here I think. I mean its an alien invasion. That be like stealing an idea to write about WW2 or a film featuring a good cop/bad cop.
There are many ways a fictional alien invasion can be portrayed. The part that was stolen was the novel "Childhood's End" was the set-up of saucers appearing and ominously hovering for days or weeks without letting their intentions be known over Earth's cities. "V" copied this plot point from the late Arthur C. Clarke's novel, and even acknowledged this by alluding to him in the script, including the plot device of the UN speech and the aliens.
Well, this should not be considered such a far-fetched event....it could happen any day, who knows?. Anyway, I think that the most dangerous "species" lives here on earth already, not in distant planets. It´s the human race...no doubt about it, right?
These are so short...!

Notice the symbolism at 1:40, where the skull is in the foreground, appearing to be "giant."
Were not the Nephelim the giant race that many of us are descended from, whose skeletons are still found to this day?
MrDuffy81 3 years ago
To MrDuffy81: The skull in the foreground is a foreshadow of death and the dark imminence about to brought to humankind.

It's actually a great book--a true classic, and IMHO Clarke's best.
Besides the analogy I made--not too much else in it has much resembling "V", though.
