I have a question. I have a Core i5 3.20 GHz dual core with a 8 gigabyte RAM and it can double to 16, with a Terrabyte HardDrive of course. But no VGA, litterally. But able to maximum every settings not DirectX in FSX and fly around with a Intel (R) HD graphics.0 device for graphics. I been using FSX for 2 years. What's the best Graphic card (Don't care about the price) Around to turn that computer with the spec into a GOD for once?

Dude how coincidental i currently have an 8800GT as well, its runs GTA IV, FSX , and Need For Speed Hot Pursuit at around a steady 45 fps. was yours on an SLI or did you overclock it that caused it to burn out?

@milkshak3taco Dude, i just sold my 560ti (on ebay) and got a 570 (from ebay).. bf3 suffers on anything more than 1600x900.. 560ti x900 got me 45-65 fps, on medium.

570 x1080p gives me 65-70 fps on ultra!!! awesome stuff... do it.. do it now...

@fsxsimmer20 When it comes to performance in FSX, you need to minimize the amount of background processes that are going on. Even such simple things as cleaning up the registry, and de-fragging. Don't do automatic updates, do them manually as it's a resource hog. Get rid of Windows Defender etc.

Hey jon you should upgrade your cpu as FSX is all CPU deppendant, core i5 2500k is the best budget high performance CPU on the market and its easily overclocked to 4.6ghz, FSX will run great, i get mine soon cant wait.

@C101AGUILA Hey, I may have the anser you're looking for. This worked for me anyway. Download and install both service pack 1 & 2 for FSX. Then, install the latest FSUIPC for FSX. Once done, in the settings menu in FSX check the box 'enable directx10'. Restard flight sim then BAM!

I've also got the gtx 460 on my pc. It works great for my FSX too but I've noticed that the card does'nt load very quickly. For example, if I'm changeing from spot view to cockpitview, the cockpit stays gray for about two seconds :(

Before I had large areas of the texture that was black, but it showed up to be a bug in the GPU. But overall I think it's a good purchase you have done :)

@Crea8tion Nice... I'm planning on a similar build, but with the i5-2500k (3.3GHz), 4GB RAM and 32-bit OS. GTX 460 seems very capable of handling FSX, even though it still relies on the CPU.

If you compare to Jon, he's got a CPU at 2.4GHz and 6GB RAM, and he makes brilliant high-res videos. So when you've got a CPU with 1GHz more and more RAM, you are guaranteed to have great performance.

But if you're running a game like FSX, 8GB RAM is overkill. RAM is only really used for loading textures.

GTX460 should give you a big jump in performance over the 8800GT, depending on the program. FSX is heavly limited by the CPU, so the new card may not make a difference in single-monitor gameplay, but if you're playing with multi-monitor, you're gonna want the nicer graphics card.
