Thanks for this song! I am 41 but this song was one of my favorites on I was 13-18 because my father had a collection of old songs. I liked songs like this and even now it has the same effect on me...I think it is uplifting and optimistic. Nice combination words - melody.
12 years of age listening to this on 2SM in Sydney and I'm now 52 but this song takes me back to that time and the school friends I had then. I remember Greg Nuun (R.I.P) having this 45 and just killing it he played it so often!! I miss you mate.
I just can't help it. I'm 54 and I'm still living in this era. Sorry, no excuses. I just love this music. Oh why did the world have to change? Facebook, I hate you......
@prophet711 I'm only 49,well closer to 50,but this music is what the soundtrack of my life is also,I remember listening to songs on the kitchen transistor while Mom did dishes from when I was only 3 ,when my late Mom was astonished that I would or actually could sing along!
reminds me of a 7 hour trip I took to Washington DC when I was 4 and the brand new 1971 yellow galaxie 500 we drove down there in. A girl that I had a crush on in nursery school comes to mind too.
the random moments are at :45 and 2:15 during the lyrics "..always spent with you", especially on the word "you" where it is drawn out and exremely nasal, a la valli.
wow this song is a real blast from the past, this takes me back to the the summer of 75 when i was just a little one and now at the age of 44 i still enjoy great music like this. thanks for posting this.
Just when I think I've exhausted the tendency to hear some old song that evokes a vague sentimental feeling, along comes a song like this one! : ) Keep em comin!
23 in 1971 - This was, for me at least, a 'tweener' song. I loved it for my romantic interests moments, but my horizons had already broadend since I had left the military 3 years earlier already. @Batshitcool Hey I know exactly what you're talkin about....between 16 and 23, I felt that way about a lot of AM radio hits of the time, but now I hear the same music and find them extremely nostalgic and meaningful.........at the time, that type of music seemed trivial compared to what was "cool", but as time has gone by I feel closer to these types of songs than the most of the "serious" music of the time. Nostalgia has a way with one's heart...at least for me.

I always loved this song, and often wondered why it was never a huge hit. Man, I miss these beautiful love songs. Pretty simple formula: man, woman, they love each other....I guess that concept no longer exists in today's music. Sad.
dont even compare yesterday's music with today's...if you stop listening and stop your kids from listening they will be forced out of place....but the general public is stupid
2 things: 1. where is the live performance for this tune? 2. I guess they attempted to hold on to the positive things from The 60's when they did this tune. It sounds like it.
i loved this song when i was a kid and it brings back such wonderful memories of me carrying my little transistor radio listening to dan ingram on wabc in new york in the 70's ..such wonderful days ..you wonder what happened to this country ..money and a lot of greed........
4tuneagent, together with cglives, offer the definitive account of "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" by The Fortunes; it really is the greatest and "happiest-sounding sad transistor radio song of all time!!"

@MrMatt8204 Yes friend it does, because it wasn't technologically staged and corporately hyped. It was full of real heart and soul, and brought to us from those who were not yet jaded and could still dream. I mourn those days of old and mourn still more for the days in which we now exist.

It seems only yesterday but etched in memory is a rum issue day in our small naval barracks' canteen. It was raining hard. The colder than ice rum was in hand. wow was 10 years old in 1970 remember when this song came out ! was getting .25 cent allowance and it cost 5.55 for the 45 , was hard to save all that $ money but well spent , as i played that record till my sister hated it .
is it just me, or in some parts of this song he sounds a tad bit like frankie valli? hahaha. like "your face is always on my mind girl" hahaha sounds like valli
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS CLASSIC DANCE TRACK/POP SONG FROM THE EARLY 70s STILL RELEVANT TODAY! THE PICTURE LOOKS LIKE EARLY OR MID 60s - DO YOU HAVE ANY LATER ONES TO POST THAT BETTER SHOW THEIR EARLY AND MID-70s LOOK? REALLY LOVE THIS SONG & THANKS AGAIN! DAVEDJ
i rember driveing my whole family nuts when i was a kid by playing this song over and over, because i loved it so much back then. i still love this song even to this day.
...our first royal family lives not on lonely street in and at the heartbreak hotel but on Wright road and with our popular songs the First In Flight!
very cool and Thank You!....(should oui walk through the Embassy of I Am Music and not hear this song?).....don't break our heart!..never loving!...replay!
This is great. Why is it so difficult to get original Fortunes recordings? If you go on ITunes and Napster looking for this song, you just get a cheesy 90s re-recording, but THIS is how the song sounded when it was out in the 70s! Great upload, thumbs up from me.
This video was from the good old days before seatbelts. Back when adults drove with a cigarette in their mouth with the windows rolled up and the heater on. If the kids complained they were told to shut-up.
@stingray1964 ... i always remember herman's hermits on my transistor radio, for some reason (mrs. brown). i use to put little car decals on my radio (skulls, flames). amazing time to grow up. had a paper route and could buy almost anything a kid could want (bought my first drumset with route money). what happened to this country? wish our kids could experience our childhood, even for a short time. things are way too expensive and screwy nowadays!
@frizzlefrap Wow dude, good story. Yup, I had a route too. I also shoveled snow, raked leaves and mowed lawns for dough. Hey I like the idea of putting decals on the tz....good one! I used to love building models too come to think of it, hot rods, tanks, planes...I know man, our country went down the shitter!! I don't think it'll ever be the same again sorry to say. At least when I listen to songs like this it's time travel back to a better and simpler time...rock on man!!
This is one of my all time favorite songs. Despite the title, I always envision bright, breezy sunny skies and being in an overall happy mood. When I first heard this back in '93, I always thought this was a Four Seasons track from the mid 60's; sung by Frankie Valli. It wasn't until much later I found out it was by The Fortunes. A Classic!!
Singers today couldnt hold a candle with the sixties stars , when you think of Orbison , Shannon , Vee , Sedaka , Pitney , Faith , and Rod Allen, there are no special voices around anymore, thank god for the sixties.
This was written by Roger Cook - the only Brit inducted into the Nashville Songwriters' Hall of Fame. He also wrote the Coke song, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing," and co-wrote "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" with Allan Clarke, lead singer of The Hollies ... plus many more!
@stadalberts Answer - KILLED by the music industry long ago!!..Because "they" really want societal or cultural DIVISION, they PURPOSELY SHUN promoting "middle-of-the-road" friendly rock style songs ..like this classic tune from the Fortunes.. that elicits a feeling of peace or togetherness for the masses!..Instead, the "extreme", controversial, & divisive styles like rap or "power-metal" is favored by the WICKED "music"(sic) industry to promote artistic/cultural animosity and "SEPARATISM".
@tiptoetonight Thank you for your astute analysis of pop music development. You've illuminated the manipulation of pop music development and I see that like almost everything else the quest for money and power has corrupted something wonderful. It's so sad to see good music fall under the influence of money.
Ah; in those ol days even rocknroll was called from the devil...but I must admit that todays music is not appealing some exceptions there too. Kids are brainwashed by repeating drumbears and bassbeats they call Hip hop and house; they use drugs and "dance" just to be part of the masses. Programms like idols finish the rest of the creativity.
@tiptoetonight No. You're wrong. Dude..it's about he greenbacks, the benjamins..and nothing else. It doesn't take much to figure that if Rap sells..then you don't want take a risk on someone that sounds like the next Pat Boone! Rainy Day is a great song. Someone took the risk...and we are fortunate for that.
@onememphisdude Probably right there my friend. I guess you have to wait and see what endures. My 13 yr old granddaughter (who loves "todays" music but has a real fascination with the music from this bygone era, she makes me tell her about it and collects it. She also asks me "why don't Idol contestants sing more of this?, It seems so fresh."
I could not agree more! Love this song Ahhhhhhh....... those 70's were great. Lots of great music of all kinds that we could understand the words and sing along to back in those days.
Yeah I remember being blazed at my buddies house and listening to this song like 5 times in a row, killer good jam man. ALWAYS SPENT WITH YOU..TOOK AWAY MY SUNSHINE..IT ALWAYS HAS TO BE A MONDAY
What the hey? Only five seconds?

very cool and Thank You!....(should oui walk through the Embassy of I Am Music and not hear this song?).....don't break our heart!..never loving!...replay!

This is great. Why is it so difficult to get original Fortunes recordings? If you go on ITunes and Napster looking for this song, you just get a cheesy 90s re-recording, but THIS is how the song sounded when it was out in the 70s! Great upload, thumbs up from me.

I had my iPod on shuffle once and this came on, followed by "Standin' in the Rain" by ELO.
I found this amusing.

This video was from the good old days before seatbelts. Back when adults drove with a cigarette in their mouth with the windows rolled up and the heater on. If the kids complained they were told to shut-up.

@stingray1964 ... i always remember herman's hermits on my transistor radio, for some reason (mrs. brown). i use to put little car decals on my radio (skulls, flames). amazing time to grow up. had a paper route and could buy almost anything a kid could want (bought my first drumset with route money). what happened to this country? wish our kids could experience our childhood, even for a short time. things are way too expensive and screwy nowadays!
frizzlefrap 1 year ago
@frizzlefrap Wow dude, good story. Yup, I had a route too. I also shoveled snow, raked leaves and mowed lawns for dough. Hey I like the idea of putting decals on the tz....good one! I used to love building models too come to think of it, hot rods, tanks, planes...I know man, our country went down the shitter!! I don't think it'll ever be the same again sorry to say. At least when I listen to songs like this it's time travel back to a better and simpler time...rock on man!!

Even with the cigarette, the guy doesn't look that cool.

He also wrote the Coke song, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing," and co-wrote "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" with Allan Clarke, lead singer of The Hollies ... plus many more!

stadalberts 1 year ago 4
@stadalberts all gone now replaced by rap. too bad these song were timeless, remember them that's the point. still playing!
oddwiak 1 year ago

It's so sad to see good music fall under the influence of money.
bobcooper31 1 year ago
@tiptoetonight
Ah; in those ol days even rocknroll was called from the devil...but I must admit that todays music is not appealing some exceptions there too. Kids are brainwashed by repeating drumbears and bassbeats they call Hip hop and house; they use drugs and "dance" just to be part of the masses. Programms like idols finish the rest of the creativity.
guardianofretro 1 year ago
@tiptoetonight Your right. Kind of makes you really hate American Idol.....
mgwilliams1000 1 year ago
@tiptoetonight No. You're wrong. Dude..it's about he greenbacks, the benjamins..and nothing else. It doesn't take much to figure that if Rap sells..then you don't want take a risk on someone that sounds like the next Pat Boone! Rainy Day is a great song. Someone took the risk...and we are fortunate for that.
onememphisdude 1 year ago
@onememphisdude Probably right there my friend. I guess you have to wait and see what endures. My 13 yr old granddaughter (who loves "todays" music but has a real fascination with the music from this bygone era, she makes me tell her about it and collects it. She also asks me "why don't Idol contestants sing more of this?, It seems so fresh."
mgwilliams1000 1 year ago 10
I could not agree more! Love this song Ahhhhhhh....... those 70's were great. Lots of great music of all kinds that we could understand the words and sing along to back in those days.
