The album had it all. Extravagance, style and definitely a cut above the rest. Saw these guys on a 1978 tour on a revolving stage. their rendition of this song and every song in that show was a sight to see and sound to behold. Flawless. This album brings back some fond memories. Still have the original vinyl which I bought brand new upon its release. Still in great condition. Played it last week. Long live vinyl. thanx for the post
Yeah, I love Squire's bass lines, too. A lot of the tone comes from the Rickenbacker bass he uses; much the same tone as Geddy Lee who uses the same bass (as did McCartney).
I listen to that song and focus on each instrument individually, and I find myself drawn to the bass line as well. You're right - it does seem to drive the song.
Glad you enjoyed it! I've got a few other songs from this album on my channel. I think you'll enjoy them too.
Also, get your hands on the next album, "Fragile." I like the song "South Side of the Sky" as my personal favorite from the album. Howe does some great fills in that one. His sound is raw and edgy and just kicks ass.

One of the best bass lines ever. I love Squire's powerful tone, one of the most powerful basslines ever, it is the centrepiece of the song for me

I'm 15 and I've been trying to discover all these great underrated guitarists.
Some of them I found were Mike Bloomfield, Paul Kossoff, and now Steve Howe.
O my god hes amazing

I agree. There is a certain "feel" to this album, and I never get tired of it! This is also my favorite song from the album.
