  • Great Doco ,a nice WINDOW back in times gone by ......thanks ..

  • For a start, the film would be a higher quality if shot post war. We do see some servicemen and they're not in their formal garb. The fashions look more 1930's and if it is 1940 this would figure due to austerity measures for the war effort.

At 01.10 is a 1938 Chevy taxi. Same at 01.26. All '38 Chevs as far as I can tell.

Pretty well all the trucks are around late '30's with a few mid '20's,one with a wooden cab.Likely 1939. Start of the war as there really aren't enough servicemen for later.

  • @bluehachiroku It's hard to say but the station building at Roma St was opened in 1940 during WWII. Maybe I should contact someone at the National Film & Sound archive. They might have some more information.

  • I say its 1939 becuase there is a B181/4, early C17, Red Railmotors, D17 & Either A Wal PB15 or Stephenson PB15

  • @Cinesound01 Yes but it also has the more modern Roma Street station building which was opened in 1940 and it would be highly unlikely they would have done this film during the war years.

  • Sensational!

  • Roma St - Fantastic video . Couldn't imagine catching a steam train to work everyday.

    What year was this filmed?

  • Dunno but we guessed between 1945 and 1952.

  • Top Stuff
