tiad!!! Grateful to you for the information and the songs. Don't care what the language is, it is beautiful and the translation is there. Why do peole think there has to be a political debate? Artists and poets have always been persecuted, why would I be naive to think we are better now?
For anyone wondering, ghazal is a poetic form. You can read about it more on Wikipedia. Though it is interesting to know that it means "dear" in Arabic.... It further underlines my theory that it's the worlds most lirycal language along with Farsi :) Even though I myself do not speak neither of it :(
Personally I like ghazals, but the traditional way of singing it (particularly the music composed) has been bland and lacking emotions/energy/creativity... but this new fusion and style by Niyaz gives a new life to ghazals :)
Excellent!!! Amazing that Niyaz are able to sing in Persian, Urdu, and Turkish languages... Their fusion of traditional instrumentals and poetry of old legends of that region with modern electonica (sythesizers,etc) is very promising and appealing to the younger Iranians, Afghans, Pakistanis, Turks, north Indians, and Central Asians...
music is good...but does not fit to ghazal....!! must learn urdu...!! a fantastic ghazal can be sung with this music and voice...!! vocals are really good but the does not fit to ghazal singing! best of luck next time.
@irshad3330: Thanks for your comment. If you want to listen to traditional ghazal you should know Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan or Sabri Brother etc. This song is called "Ghazal". That does not mean obligatory it is sung in traditional ghazal style. The way of Azam Ali's singing is unique, beautiful and "modern". Btw. Azam Ali understands Urdu. Check her biography.
@tiad thanks a lot for correcting me. i misunderstood by the name 'ghazal', i think its the title of the song. i just read the profile of azam ali, she is well known iranian singer. sorry again for misunderstanding. nusrat fateh ali and sabri brothers are famous for their 'qawali' music not for ghazal singing, though nusrat sung some ghazal but mehdi hassen, ghulam ali, shafqat amanat ali are the standerds for classical ghazal singing.
@tiad Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Sabri Brothers are Qawwals, I think a better example of a Ghazal singer would be Mehdi Hassan or Ustaad Ghulam Ali.
haha my name is Ghazal <3
i love this song even tho im iranian <3

Merci pour ce petit trésor musical qu'est le groupe Niyaz.

@Philosophicu Urdu Farsi and Urdu
First verse before the switch to Farsi:
Your heart cannot be won by me nor can my soul bear this restlessness
need is a burden which cannot be revealed, therefore I remain silent
every time you are before me my eyes fill with tears that are unable to flow
like an ocean standing still at the sight of you passing by

@Philosophicu It is mixed. The first phrase is Urdu and the Second phrase is Persian (Parsi). The poetry is from Rumi. :)
