  • i dunno what's the pattern for flam taps..

  • since when have you been drumin?

  • Nice work.

  • wow padrisimo saludos

  • So damn Godly.

  • Nice work... I like it

  • At around 0:16 it sounds like you sped up the 1/4 note a little when you where sub dividing the 1/16 notes.

  • Ur soooooooooo good

  • your moeller is awesome

  • thumbs up if you are a highland drummer in a pipe band!

  • i have that exact pad in red and black its awesome

  • Comment removed

  • good stuff. I've playin drums my whole life, and never got how important these rudiments are. Now I love doing them, and its completely changed the way I play on the kit. Paradiddles as triplets is my favourite, I can do them all day long

  • can someone tell me what the r's and the l's mean cuz im new to drumming and i dont know what they mean

  • @A7x23456 R = Right Hand, L = Left Hand

  • @uwepetersen

    I thought R = Ruffles and L = Lays :(

  • @A7x23456 welcome to the epic world of drumming have fun :)

  • nice control! good technique. who do you play with?

  • fail

  • @AnimationAnimater12 Your Face

  • i recommended an HQ real feel for that realistic rebound

  • excellent! how long have you been drumming?

  • wow

  • your left hand was major molar technique. try do it without it

  • Off the top of my head, here's a few basic key ones any beginner can just sit down and practice at any time and improve their playing

    lR rl rL lr

    lR lrr Rl rll (flamadiddle)

rlrl lrrr lrlr rlll (out of stick control I believe)

practice these SLOW and get the motion and timing down. Use moeller. 60bpm max, count out loud. Do this for a month. :)

  • Looks like typical warmups.

First exercise is just "shifting gears" from singles in quarters, to eighths, triplets, 16ths then 32nds. He forgot 16th note triplets though (just busting balls)

Second one are just flams...probably nothing that George Stones "stick control" does not have. I usually don't venture that far into Stick Control anymore.

  • good

  • Would you say these exercises are pretty similar to what you do to warm up your hands before a gig or practicing?

  • @isntred: yes pretty much and a lot of singles and doubles and of coarse the paradiddle

  • uhg!!!! if only i could get there!!!

  • I belive that the warmup is called the Triangle

  • Parabéns, ótimo vídeo. UM ABRAÇO!

  • sick chops man, what band are you in?

  • great job, but traditional grips better=/

  • @mexiboii001 Depends. It's been scientifically proven that matched grip provides more fine muscle control and you engage more muscles at any given time. JoJo Mayer even talks about this is his video: Secret Weapons for the Modern Drummer. Honestly, I LOVE the feel of traditional with brushes....just feels so much more natural

  • @mexiboii001 No grip is "better". -.-

  • coollllll!

  • I have the same drum pad its yellow as well

  • Great finger control! Props to you my man.

  • agin,,, pads arent a discrace . nice beat realy.

  • what kind of practice pad is that?

  • @MusicLives209: Vater Chop Builder 12" Double Sided VCB12D on a vintage Ludwig snare stand.

  • @uwepetersen cool thanks! i was thinking about getting one of those! would you recomend it?

  • When working on my flams, i can't achieve the same kind of bounce that you do if you can understand that... Could it be that i'm just holding the sticks too tightly? When i loosen my grip, i feel as if the sticks are gonna bounce right out of my hands. I'm using Vic Firth 5A Wood Tips and the exact same pad as you. Thanks for your tips.

  • @dewbelove Put a video of you trying, and I can probably help, I'm not an expert, but holding the stick to tight, could be the problem, and loosening too much is bad, so if you can explain it better? Or post a video, I'll try my best to help you out! :)

  • your awesome....thats insane.

    do you use finger technique?

  • just to let you know the rudiment you call L rrll RL rrll R is called a six stroke roll just incase you were wondering :)

  • you are very good but your too floppy in the wrist n ur fingers are really loose but ur very talented

  • Very nice!

  • i prefer my pillow to a pad. It offers no resistance and works your wrist like nothing else. try playing at even like eight notes at 100 bpm for a minute straight. oh yeah, you cant!!! after 10 seconds ur wist is on fire!!! ive got up to eights at 230 bpm with paradiddles, double strokes, and single strokes. it really helps. GO TRY IT!!!

  • your form is very bad. your left arm is doing the wave

  • I do alot of the same rudiments. Flam 3's into flam 2's. Flam 4's doubles...you da man Uwe

  • Taps are a little high but I'm assuming you play set. So, good job man. You really have a great sound...

  • Nice but u forgot the metronome that sure

  • good drumming,i can t see when u use the wrist

  • Sir u forgot the metronome

  • @PearLDrummeR1871 He's doin a lot of open closed open so I don't think he needs one.

  • @Ineedwords1121 ohh well everytime i practice i use a metronome but thanks for the response

  • Nice paradiddles. ;)

  • Is this Vince playing here?

  • what practice pad is that?

  • i have a roland electric set, would removing the snare off that and using it as a practice pad have the same effect, or does a practice bad have a certain bouncyness to it?

  • @StockholmSyndrome08: Practice pads do feel different and yes the do have a certain bounciness to it, but you can use your Roland pad as a practice pad I would say. The Roland Mesh heads have way more rebound than the rubber pads.

  • @uwepetersen Lol I do the exact same warmup as you in my school percussion group...

  • @StockholmSyndrome08 a vater practice pad (double sided) has a hard side, and a soft bouncy side, and i think that if you take of the roland snare, or any other srum off, it wont be the same as a practice pad.

  • O_O

  • Man, you're really good!!!

  • Well vater tape doesn't heart your hands and it feels soft

  • Vater tape is good for the wrist and of coarse a practice pad is bouncy

  • The worst practice pad just got worse ITS YELLOW. good drummin though

  • thanksssssssss dude

  • hows the practice pad does it feel good?

  • Is a practice pad bouncy? Lol currently im using my pillow, i hav drum set but i use pillow at nite now its nite

  • am i the only one who warms up on set then plays marching stuff??? it really works

  • So that's what rudiments look like when they're not on Expert Village. All of a sudden I can understand how they help. Maybe I should go and buy a practice pad and start learning?

  • I'm glad I inspired you.

  • @uwepetersen i want to buy a prac pad but dont want it to be pricey any idea

  • @kingkia44: RegalTip has a pad for under 20 bucks

  • @uwepetersen my sis has a regaltip pad

  • @kingkia44 you can get it at ebay for like thirty bucks

  • @kingkia44 buy some heavy marching sticks to really chop out!

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker Or at LSU...And when ur in college, n u start to get good, it's just as easy to do rudiments on a bouncy, rubber practice pad than it is to do them on something soft, like a pillow...so, learn on a practice pad, practice on a pillow (only so often), and you will be better than ever...

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker lol expert village isnt really EXPERT village more like RETARD villagelol

  • Good work. I should be doing more of this.

  • Nice vid! Thank you. Very ompressive. For how long do you practice?

  • sic

  • You have Jim Chapins wrists!

  • Thanks

  • your like me, we love the flams haha

  • i thought this was really good..its annoying how hardly any drummer these days even knows what a flam is...

  • What is pad hands?

I have a mesh practice pad is that any good?

  • those flams are nasty

  • wat kind of stand is tat

  • This is a old Ludwig flat base stand from the 60's

  • It is refreshing to see someone with a good command of the rudiments.

  • @castlehilldude concordo

aff so para fica aqui em cima rsrsrsrsr

  • you were on tour ? your in what band ?

  • put some swiss triplets on the flam tap family...it sound really god!......you're very good!

  • i dont really like my vater pad i have the double sided one with the black and red theres really no difference and the feel is horrible for

  • vater sucks it gives major pad hands i had the 6 in. but my friend had the one u have i played on it all the time cuz its bigger now i have the invader v3 :D best pad ever

  • @Blackinferno15 yea vater isnt really a good pad for marching percussion, ive thrown my vater against the wall so many times when i used 2 have it, got the invader v3 for Christmas now no pad hands and im about 5 times the player i used 2 be

  • @chrisman180 i have the double sided vater and i am ordering the invader v3. it shud come tomorrow YAY

  • you rushed those 16th notes bro!!!

  • I know I played without a metronome, but so what...

  • I posted a video of me right after this btw me in the video is 2 days after even getting drum sticks or the pad, never done drums before yesterday but i love it!

  • Nice pad...Good practice!

  • i warm up the same way

  • six stroke is my favorite rudiment!

  • I have that stand.

  • we have almost the same warmup routine.

  • ya! work those flam taps lol

  • nice, do u do this every time before you play or something? ur freakin sweet at drums dude

  • Nice
