  • Hi kopkitty! I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your videos!! My husband is brazilian (I'm American). I'm trying to learn portuguese, and you keep saying that you are not a portuguese teacher and that you are just brazilian, and I prefer it that way :)

    You are great!

  • Very well done. I purchased a book that has helped me considerably, but the CD that came with the book recites many words, but few sentences or phrases. It's good that you include phrases. Thank you.

I work with companies involved with mining in Brazil. So I would like to learn terms and phrases about mining and material handling. I know a few, but you could help me a lot!

    Obrigado!

  • To ensinando minha namorada portugues e percebi um pequeno erro, pois o diminutivo de lampada é lampadazinha nao lampadinha. Desculpa mas tive que falar. By the way, she is learning too much from your videos. Great idea.

  • nossa vc é brasileira ne? tao bunito como vc fala em ingles.. parabéns

  • Kopkitty, you are doing a great job. Thanks. We are traveling to Brazil in june. We meet our deaest MSN friends in Bauru. We are from the netherlands. So listening to your pronunciation is an effort to suprise those wonderful people over there. Thansk anyway.

  • Thanks for sharing . It really helped and you are very cute

    beijos

  • And about the word "HI" you can just to say "OI, tudo bem?" or "OI, como vai voce?" that means "Hi how are you?" Or you can say Bom dia (good morning), Boa tarde (Good afternoon), Boa noite (Good night/evening)

    I hope that helped you!

  • I think I can help you!

In portuguese "turn to the right/left" is virar para a direita/esquerda... but it depends... so if you ask for someone turn to the right/left you can say vire para a direita/esquerda... but if you say you are turning to the right/left Eu viro (present) para a direita/esquerda or we turn to the right/left Nos viramos para a direita/esquerda

Look in the mirror- Olha no espelho

    ...

  • I know this is a loaded question, but can you use words that end in

    AR, ER, and IR

    in past, present, and future.

    I have trouble conjugating them.

like Dancar, Comer, ouvir, or something?

Wow! Tao linda q vc e!!! com a letra de marisa monte com letra em ingles mesmo! adoro musica dela tambem. me faz muito feliz isso, obrigada pelo seu ajuda com portugues e tambem a musica!

    bjos

    *avontade pra corrigir-me! rsrs bjos

  • They are pretty difficult! Probably one of the hardest things in Romance languages..conjugating all of those verbs! Hope this helps a bit: =) Dançar: Present: Eu danço Past: Eu dancei Future: Eu dançarei Comer: Present: Eu como Past: Eu comi Future: Eu comerei Ouvir (irregular): Eu ouço Eu ouvi Eu ouvirei
  • Sorry Iam kind of late to post this, but do you mind telling phrases like:

    Turn to the left/right

look in the mirror/over your shoulder

and most important how to say hi in a polite way. thanks and as you can see I teach people how to drive and deal with every language. thanks again.

  • I want to take a trip to Rio next year so I have a desperate need to learn the language. How may I go about learning Portuguese?

  • Well you could start with those simple lessons that come in CDs in bookstores. There is acool channel here on you tube called languagenow that you should check out too. good luck!

  • Oi. Como via voce?

  • Hey there, eu estou bem, obrigada! :)

  • wow i am brazilian and my acent is good muinto bem

  • thanks! :D

  • Thank you Kopkitty. On your measure video-

you asked that we give you phases to translate. I am taking my college class to a

Brazilian restaurant. I would like to thank them for coming. And let them know how to order foods. Thank you and your are a great

    teacher

  • Oh, thank you so much for your comment, i really appreciate it! You could say: Obrigado por terem vindo (thanks for coming) Vocês podem pedir o que escolherem do cardápio (you can choose whatever you choose from the menu). Is this helpful? let me know :)

  • oh, i did not mean that you were not modest. i meant that it must be good for you to know all these languages, so you can communicate with many different people ;D

  • oh, just 2! wow, you must be very good at learning! i am very distractable in classes so i cant really learn! LOL congratulations, you must be so proud! :D

  • Adorei ! Estive em Portugal e tomei aulas de Portugues durante quatro semanas. Mais agora estou a esquecer de quase tudo. Muito obrigada. Seus videos sao muito bom ! Desculpa o meu Portugues , jeje ! But anyways, thank you. I just saw them for the first time. They are great. Hope to one day visit Brazil and continue learning your beautiful language.

  • Opa, tem certeza que você esqueceu o portugues? Para mim parece que você fala muito bem a minha língua! :D Thank you ever so much for your lovely comment and when you come down, i will be happy to show you around ;)

  • Great!

You´re a much better teacher than me hahaha. The Portuguese a language sounds more charming with you hehehe.

  • HAHAHA Yeah right! Well, i try and i am thinking of improving my teaching "skills" LOL thank you for the lovely comment! :D

  • irado :)

mais pow,meu nome eh Layla,me chamam de Laylinha, isso nao significa que eu sou pequena O_O

de pequena eu nao tenho nada XD

mais cara eh legal essas aulas ae :)

    bjs ;*

  • Muito obrigada! Ah Layla, o fato de te chamarem de Laylinha é na verdade um termo carinhoso... ainda bem, né? Muito obrigada pelo seu comentário e por assistir, fico contente que vc gostou! :D

  • Another interesting vid! You would make a good teacher though. . .wow you have white teeth, sorry but you do. .haha. I bet you don't have fillings or not as many as i..heh heh.

sorry that was totally random, oh well. How do you say, ' have an awesome day' in portuguese? :-)

  • hahaha my white teeth are natural i swear! LOL you are right, i have exactly one filling - i always preferred salty food to sweets, i guess that counts :) You say "tenha um ótimo dia" if you want to wish the person a good day...and thanks for your generous comment, Heidi! always makes me smile! :D

  • Okay, let me try: Eu estou um fan enorme de kopkitty! Let's see if you can figure out what that is supposed to mean. This was a great video! Can you give an example sentence for perto/longe? -- You will be amused to hear that I'll take Norwegian next semester. It's the one language that doesn't interest me, but it was difficult to find one that fits my schedule. So next year I can go to a Norwegian person and say: Jeg er en stor fan av kopkitty! I wonder if they'll understand it...

  • hahahaha your try was good, but the verb to be is tricky that way! Im sure norwegian will the SO difficult - but then again, german is like impossible, right? and YOU speak it already so yeah, it should not be as difficult for you! :) thank you for your comment, i am happy to know you liked it and ill make another lesson video soon, and ill give examples of perto and longe ;D

  • Let me guess: This is the case where I would have to say "eu sou"? Because me being a fan of yours is a permanent quality rather than a momentary state?

  • exactly! see? norwegian will be a piece of cake for you! You already are fluent in portuguese! LOL ;D

  • hi again kopkitty, I was wondering how to know how to pronounce the "s" in portuguese because it seems like sometimes it can sound like the normal english "s" or it can sound like "sh" or even like "z" in your mesa and marisa

  • Oh i will make a video of this, it is something so complicated that we even learn it at school! so dont worry if you dont get it at first :)

  • another great lesson! Portuguese is such a beatiful language. I want to go to Maceio some day and talk about the beach. Seria muito legal!

  • thanks, i am happy you enjoyed it! Oh i have been to Maceió and it is indeed very nice out there :) Seria muito legal mesmo! :)

  • Great video. I can't think of any phrases right now, but I really enjoyed trying to pronouce the phrases in the video! :)

  • thanks! let me know when youhave phrases to translate, ok? :)

  • Hi! I would like to know what's the difference between "é" the verb "to be" at the third person and "é" that means "and". How can I make the difference in a text for exemple.

    muito Obrigada!

    Amélie Benoit from Montréal

  • Salut Amelie! Le difference is: é with this little sign on top is the verb to be. the preposition "and" is always "e" with no sing at all. Still i will have to make a video about how they both sound different :) coming soon!

  • Eu gosto de assistir suas aulinhas de portuguesa Kopkittinha! Thanks so much for your help, you are the nicest person on youtube.

  • Aw, thank you!!! im happy to know you like the lessons AND you learnt how to use INHA!!! hahaha good one! I will however get the "ficar" lesson for you soon! I just have to figure out how to explain it! :)

  • One day i will learn a language! xx

  • Hey Nina! I find very hard to learn languages in general, so i keep trying to help whoever is trying to learn portuguese! ;D good to see you, hope all is well!

  • You lost me at inho but interesting vid :)

  • LOL yeah it is a bit tough! still im happy to know you enjoyed it! :)

  • Thank you Kopkitty I knew you will help me....

you even put part of that song that was very nice....by the way I love the brazilian music specially tribalistas and paulinho mosko......take care and lembra forever ti queremos muito

  • Im happy to help! Im glad you noticed the sng in the end, that was on purpose! plus, i love marisa monte and tribalistas too! If you ever want a song translated, that would me a challenge i am up for! :) obrigada, voce é muito bondoso no seu comentário! :)

  • Devlin is right, kop. You may, in fact, be the nicest person *ever*. Could you please come to the U.S. and be our President. I think, it would make Americans a *lot* more patriotic.

And we could slash the Defense budget! Who would ever attack us, I mean, *come on*!

Would you be an effective diplomat when negotiating with our enemies? That question answers itself. I think peace would break out all over.

  • Oh, thank you ever so much for your beyong kind words! I smiled *so* much reading your comment i had to read it again just to smile some more! ;) President? LOL well, if i ever get invited i will let you know, ok? :D And if it was up to me, you are right: peace would rule! :)

  • Now you've got me smiling. I think it's contagious!

  • HA! I hope it is VERY contagious! :D thanks for your lovely comment! :D

  • I got so mesmerized by your eyes that I wasn't paying attention to a word you said.

I'm sorry....but I bet this happens often to you.

  • oh thanks! (giggles) i bet you would not make a very good student huh? ;) thanks, you are very kind!

  • you are quite possibly the most adorable person on youtube. i find the sound of your voice soothing, and i mean that in the least creepy way possible. never stop making videos please.!!! lol

  • lol "least creepy way" HA HA HA that was so funny! but i get what you mean and thank you for your kind words! I am happy you find in me a good influence, that is why i am always positive that all i have here on YT is friends! :D

  • Is it true that people in São Paulo speak extremely fast? You should make a video on how fats you can speak. :D That'd be funny.

  • oh, yeah, comparing to other parts of the country i guess we speak pretty fast! :) i will try to make a video of it, good idea! :D

  • that was very useful but I'm afraid the phrases I need translated are a lot more random than that... ;)

  • Oh, yeah the phrases i use suck LOL because i should plan ahead what i am going to say, but i never have the time! Still we have to make it work, dont we cat? ;)

  • we do indeed :)

  • You are an awesome teacher! The lesson made sense, and it was easy to follow for someone like me who doesn't know any Portuguese at all.

  • Oh, (relief sigh) that is good to know, thanks! I do try hard to make it fun and light, but i will plan my lessons better next time! :)
