Peak oil is the point in time when the maximum rate of global petroleum extraction is reached. This will not affect warming at all, just oil production.

However "wrong" he is, we shouldn't forget that humans are capable of affecting the planet. If you actually look at the data in the movie (and you have to look quick because he doesn't present numbers on his big stage graph) he's only talking about 1.5 degrees Celsius from the "mile of ice over our heads" to 50 years from now. Again looking at that big graph where he gets on the scissor lift, its an optical illusion. If you actually overlap the two graphs, temperature leads CO2 concentrations just like warmer tea allows more sugar to dissolve in it.
@Knaakak Furthermore, the data from true global temperature gathering systems like satellites and the ARGO project (takes temperatures out over the ocean) instead of cities where the urban heat island effect skews the data shows that the global temperature has actually been declining steadily over the past 15 years by an average of .1 degrees C every year.

Both schools I've taught it at so far have really liked it and I've only had 1 parent each year complain (until they sat down with me and the principle and I handed them my 22 page sheet of data to back up the lesson). No one has complained so far this year and the Aquatics Sciences teacher right next door who is into all that save the Earth stuff brought her classes and said she learned quite a few things she needed to think on. It's based on three different data sets, the ice cores (which are off by a factor of 151X), the climategate data (which we know to be cooked) and climategate MODELS (for emph., not yelling) which again we know to be rubbish. Their heroic sacrifice will reduce the "evil" polluting human population and their decomposing bodies will nitrate the soil, promoting plant growth. These plants give off oxygen. ...in order to show my kids how data can be misrepresented, skewed, and generally murdered to "prove" to a receptive audience what they are inclined to believe anyway. I show them the heavy emotional draw of the film (which should have zero bearing in true science), the humor (amuse = not to think) which disengages the brain and makes it more receptive, and then the flat out lies in data

If you actually look at the data in the movie (and you have to look quick because he doesn't present numbers on his big stage graph) he's only talking about 1.5 degrees Celsius from the "mile of ice over our heads" to 50 years from now. Again looking at that big graph where he gets on the scissor lift, its an optical illusion. If you actually overlap the two graphs, temperature leads CO2 concentrations just like warmer tea allows more sugar to dissolve in it.

@Knaakak Furthermore, the data from true global temperature gathering systems like satellites and the ARGO project (takes temperatures out over the ocean) instead of cities where the urban heat island effect skews the data shows that the global temperature has actually been declining steadily over the past 15 years by an average of .1 degrees C every year.

Both schools I've taught it at so far have really liked it and I've only had 1 parent each year complain (until they sat down with me and the principle and I handed them my 22 page sheet of data to back up the lesson). No one has complained so far this year and the Aquatics Sciences teacher right next door who is into all that save the Earth stuff brought her classes and said she learned quite a few things she needed to think on. All it takes is courage!

It's based on three different data sets, the ice cores (which are off by a factor of 151X), the climategate data (which we know to be cooked) and climategate MODELS (for emph., not yelling) which again we know to be rubbish. The hockey stick graph, which the government still uses all over, even to enact current policy, is false information based on the lies revealed in climategate.
