it seems like the guy conducting is giving more than the people singing. in my opinion, i would change the humming to "Ooing." i wish the altos would sing out more. it was decent
Not only is this the most beautiful song known to man and one of the most touching, you did it very well. My jazz choir sang what I believe is the same arrangement last year, and it makes me cry almost every time. My only request would be more dynamics.
I believe your director could back off. If you are this good of an ensemble, as I judge you to be, I think you could easily stay together, possibly do better, by adjusting your formation and focusing on one another to produce a good sound.
I know what you mean... their dischords are the best part of this arrangement. The altos are in there, just a little bit quiet. Still obviously a very talented choir.
"and every time ive held a rose..... so will you soon i suppose" and "and this is why my eyes... and your the only one who knows" they sound better as solos... poor arrangement. (not choirs fault)
guth2391 is right. Uniform in vowels, diction, quality of sound, tone color, and so on with the rest. And most important of all, the breathing management. The song should be sang effortlessly. The choristers were very serious, as if afraid of something. Afraid of making a mistakes or afraid to the conductor? Music should enjoyed and not to be afraid of.
this is good, but do you know what would make it even better? correct unified vowels. it can take that stereotypical highschool choir sound and turn it into a rich, mature, warm sound. it really is one of the most important thing. good job. i think i'll give it a 3.8/5 :)
good for a highschool choir. if i had to say something it would be one little piece of advice for the director. you should be very soft with this song, the phrasing should be very soft. this is a delicate piece (at least this arrangement :P) you did very well with it though. some of these other highschools...*shudders*

I think, the conductor was the only one who was enjoying the song, the rest were very sad. Why?

Well i dont know what they tell this choir, but
usually my conductor tells us to look very serious, stand in a spacific posture and not to move at all

I sang this song for choir this past school year, in 8th grade.
our tennors and basses sucked though.
and our sopranos were too sharp and loud.
but the altos were good.
i was an alto.
