This badly needs a modern reboot. Not so much the game, as the whole concept. It could be an open-world environment with a big range of missions - beat up some swotty bastard, steal his homework, stop the school bully's protection racket, playground fights, sabotage a teacher's car, recover your confiscated items from the Head's study, get the class babe to go out with you and snog her, school trips where you have to cause as much mischief as possible etc. It could be the coolest game in years.
@ Ebb0Productions: Firstly you have to hit all the shields, then get the letters from the teachers (you got Mr Creak's letter by typing the year he was born on a blackboard).
Once you had all four letters you had to type them on a blackboard (in the correct order, the only clue you had was that the Headmaster's letter was the first) then go to the safe in the staffroom.
After you got to the safe you then had to hit all the shields again.
The point of the game is like all games, to entertain the person playing it. Remember this game was released in 1985. i was like 10/11 years old. i loved the game back back then, it was entertaining. lol
The game was a bit like a very early grand theft auto. In the sense that you had a mission to complete. But if you wanted you could just ignor the mission and go around punching people.
Man, I used to have this and Bak 2 Skool when I was a youngster, although I bought Bak 2 Skool first because I didn't know about Skool Daze until after I got Bak 2 Skool, and even then I had to order it out of a Spectrum Magazine as John Menzies and Woolworths in my area never had it. :P
I used to spend hours playing this, never did complete it though, but then, that's why I loved playing it. :D
A genious piece of programming. So different from other games at the time and not even full price! The varied tasks make it fun to play as well. 10/10.
Yeah I've seen that game. Banned in Germany. Apparently too easy to complete. Takes 6 hours to a normal game person. Like to see Skool Daze completed in 6 hrs back in the days. Back to skool... A good follow-up or a cheap cash in???
Bak2Skool was a great improvement in my opinion. More complex and a bigger playing area. These 2 games are ones that I actually bought at the time. By the way, any requests for a Bak2Skool review will have to wait...lol!
Best game ever (aside from tapper of course!). Could i ever complete any of the missions you were set? Nope but i did shot a lot of people with a catapult and write rude words on the black board!
I remembering actually buying Skool Daze and not getting a pirate. I could never get that far in it. Until I saw it now I forgot all about hitting the shields.
Hey Spinny any chance you can review Halls of the Things by Crystal? My all time favourite and to me a much overlooked game. Once you get over the bad arrangement of keys it is the most addictive game I ever played on the Speccy.
Thanks mate! Your making an old Spectrum fan very happy. One of the first Speccy games I bought. Came in one of those larger plastic cases. The up/down/left/right takes some getting use to. You will recognize the programmers names. They went onto do Darkstar.
Brilliant memories

"please sir I cannot tell a lie" this is one of the best games ever on anything because it let you play properly or just mess around.
It even looked special. It came in a red case with a white cassette ( I think)
but did anyone ever finish the thing?

I liked to name the boys rude things like "fat cunt". Was hilarious to see the teachers say,"500 lines, Fat Cunt!" lol

This reminds me of Bully on the PS2. Only its 2D and yellower. Was the Spectrum for England only?
spicyechidna94 3 years ago
Bully was ripped off from this. The ZX spectrum was the first home computer for the U.K. England is London and London suxs!
