Just goes to show, pay attention to the road and don't rely on your car to stop itself for you. Always keep your foot on standby for the brakes in case of an emergency. I think if more drivers did that, there'd be fewer speeding crashes. Too many people are just focusing on getting to where they have to go, so an unexpected curveball has them fumbling and panicking for the brakes, and that's how you get crashes!
cmon wtf? everyone is laughing, yes I laughed too but you got to admit that this is a pretty good system and no one that is laughing probably doesn`t even know how this works...they just laught at other`s misfortune
@vaiosxr Low speed... Although it definitely was VERY close to the deployment speed. I wouldn't want to sit in the car during this little funny test... Surely left quite some bruises from the safety belt. And a little loss of driver confidence... :-)
It was an electrical fault, to be more precise: a defect in the battery, a warning sign was lit on the dashboard. That was not noticed because at the time of the test nobody was sitting in the car. Mercedes Benz had a similar problem as they crashed a S-Class in the fog chamber because nobody told the test-driver that the automatic emergency brake system was switched off.
Mercedes is better looking ( don´t come saying that volvo is prety because it isn´t do you just look at the rear headlights) mercedes is more louxuryous mercedes is THE BEST and it will be always be the best because i never hear a person saying volvo will be volvo forever so here you got a piece of my mind and HATERS GONNA HATE-Mercedes The Best or nothing!
if you don't know not talk...the ''city safety'' works until 30kmh.in the test us you can see at 0:12 says 35kmh...its logical not to work the city safety
Wait that car was only travelling at 35 km/h... and you are looking at least at a flattened radiator, among other things.... at least $5k worth of components and repairs. The engine is fine and the work to repair wouldn't take long... about a week.
@puertousbmonkey if you don't know not talk...the ''city safety'' works until 30kmh.in the test us you can see at 0:12 says 35kmh...its logical not to work the city safety
@bogdancubo The airbag won't deploy at such low speed impacts. The force experienced by the driver from the crash was not huge enough, if the airbag deployed it would have harmed the driver instead.
what else is funny is the trucks under ride guard didn't work. Its a fact proven by the IIHS that the federal standards for under ride guards are too weak, and a 35 mph crash in the back of a 18 wheeler is fatal.
@nanajoth With all the electromagnetic waves from wi-fi, cell phones, towers and all the mercury intake from air and fish that deposits well within the brain. Not to mention people not sleeping at night, but using computers and tablets or gaming.
Oh, well people will need cars to brake for them afterall. This is what they choose!
This has already been explained previously... but they started the car and drove straight at the truck. However, the auto brake safety system only becomes engaged once the car has been driving around a bit. Specifically, it requires some steering input to have been made before the system becomes armed.
Volvo PR failure for not knowing the limitations of their own system.
LOL. Never buy swedish car. The electronics were so stupid the wipers net on. "AW SHIT!!! MOTHER FU... Ops. I mean em em weedy yeah. Damn. Who set that damn thing up."
"Hey Steve! Did you forget to upgrade the ECU for that safety feature we're gonna demonstrate for all these people?" Steve: "Awe shit, that's what you wanted me to do? Wups...."
guys it wasn't a fail, the automatic brakes activate when the steering wheel is turned at least 1 degree!! the car was set up then started with a locked steering wheel so unless u live on a runway the car's auto brakes will work. thumbs up so people understand. :)
@marcvie9 Yeah... Have you ever tried running your bicycle into a brick wall at a slow speed and trying to remain seated? Imagine that with biking as fast as you can, or just sitting down in a car.
@Rubr1k if the airbags where deployed at 30 km/h he would have a burn in his face from the airbag and it would be not effective at that speed plus it is quite expensive
@Rubr1k Yes, the quality is been worser and the safety also, because Volvo is owned by China Geely. China is the best when it comes to cutting costs but when it comes to safety... Look up some Chinese crash tests!

haha very nice.
