thats squaresoft for you. i remember playing this game when i was 5 or 6 the zombie part used to scare the crap out of me thats where i quit at every time hahaha
One of my favorite ps1 games. I have no idea how this hasn't been ported yet. I mean I still have my OG copy, but I'm waiting for the day it dies on me..
@Bohninja you the one who thinking like that......and many great game of japanese have dubbed into english dub version....there's nothing racist about japan.....and if some of the game is not in your country....blame your own country...because not dubbing some of the japanese great game....they will dub if they like that game...if not....like i said....blame the agency that bring the dub version into your own country.....
@Bohninja nope....the second one is great too....it's not suck at all....a lot of people love the 2nd one too....tell me why did you hate it....cuz it's hard??
the most frustrating part of this game is turning the valves off in steamwood...tht gets on my nerves so bad...but ya one of my favorite games...just could never get all the toys
Even after 11 years, I still think of this game. Hands down this is one of the greatest masterpieces ever, period. Mix the real swordsman Miyamoto Musashi and adventurer Indiana Jones together, you get Brave Fencer Musashi and one hell of an epic adventure.
i LOVE this game...it made me feel satisfied and unsatisfied at the same time...satisfied that i finished it...and unsatisfied that it was over already...
@SilentForceX and remaking "old classics" and than re-remaking them.
You know what, now every one in the gaming industry is a pussy, they are afraid to think of new original concepts, so instead they are 'merging" rpg elements in to shooters and action in to rts
Is it so hard to just make an original game theme and on a original way...
I mean look at overlord, witcher, dark messiah, shadow of the colossus they did it
So to all developers stop milking the old ideas get creative...
I just have to say, there's a TON of original game ideas that get denied by the Publishers. Game Designers are NOT at fault for putting out the same old crap every year.

There are too many copy paste and re-skin games that sell just because people want to feel safe when buying something they are familiar with and the art or the professionality of a game developer is to keep the old while introducing new
@janersulce32 Believe me, I know where you're coming from.
I was just saying that it's not the people who makes the games' fault, it's the people who pay for the games to be made.
(good)Game Developers WANT to make a great, fun and innovated game that everyone would enjoy, Game Publishers want a game that's proven to sell well so they'll make back their 16 million dollars.
Game Developers = have to make what the publishers allow
Publishers = needs proof that the game will sell so many units.
This song is the epicest.....im reminded of many of the 90's game music when i hear this....and many elements that only existed back then...not anymore
I played this game again about four months ago, and I just finished playing it yet another time yesterday. Truly an unforgettable classic.
If you haven't played it yet and happen to find it at your local game store or something, do yourself a favor; buy it, plug in your old PSX, and let the good times roll.
This was the most awesome demo ever I remember on the old school demo disks. I loved those demo disks, good old memories
I only bought the game a couple of years ago when I by chance found it at a gamestop before they stopped carrying PS1 games,. only a few weeks before infact
damn.. i remember seeing an ad fro this game in a magazine, i was 8 at the time. i asked my dad every day for MUSASHI!! i remember walking home from school, opening up the door to my room, and BAM! its on my bed. i remember for about 3 years, evbery day i came home from school, i would hope for a random gift laying on my bed.
a couple years later i was surprised with Majoras Mask sitting on my bed
then the last time ever i was surprised with a game in my room was the first SOCOM for ps2.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
A lot of video games are nothing compared to what they were back in the day. Sega killed Sonic a long time ago, Nintendo destroyed Zelda with the "cartoony" look starting with Wind Waker. The only good ones since Majora's Mask were Minish Cap and Twilight Princess. Cell shade and 3D just don't go together.
Every time I mention the word "Musashi" to anyone I know, this game is always the first thing that comes to their mind; not a character from some anime or the real life legendary swordsman himself; it's this game. It was THAT awesome.
Also, it's been 11 years since I've heard that theme song again at this very moment. All those years of not hearing it even once and that tune is still stuck in my head.
AAAAAAAAAA!!! que recuerdos !!!! :D este juego si que me gustaba, que historia tan genial, esas peleas, las dormidas xD TODO TODO ERA MUY BUENO :) uno de mis juegos favoritos de la gran PS1.
Sorry to say dude, but Square probably won't make a real sequel to this game. Nowadays, Square is too busy making crappy remakes and milking Final Fantasy for all its worth. They just don't have the magic in their games anymore.
this game was crazy. I remember fighting bad guys for hours just to get enough money to buy the action figures at the toy shop..... sleeping in the middle of Grillin Village till nighttime so I could take on the bat zombies..... racing down the waterfall with only one log left on the raft..... AAAAHHH THIS GAME WAS AWESOME!!!!!
Yep! That summarizes how I felt about this game. I have so, so many memories of playing this game. I think I got it when I turned 10 or so, but I had the demo of it for longer than that! I remember coming home straight after school, and I'd jump straight on my playstation just to play good ole' brave fencer musashi!
@herofromthedark lol i had the demo too, and played the first mission about a million times, one day i was randomly walking in a mall and saw the game in a shelf, i was like OMG mom if you dont get me that game right now im gonna die :) happy memories playing this
Yeah, I had a playstation underground, and I'd just play it over and over again.... reveling in Musashi's awesome ability to destroy a giant ass robot, and STILL have enough time to make a snappy comeback! :D
I got this game when I was 11 I think, and I'm almost 21 now... hard to believe that this game is 10 years old, but god, do I love it! When I think about this song and the game, it reminds me of happier, simpler days, before work, taxes and bills...
HAH I was just thinking the same thing you took the words right out of my mouth this brings me back and reminds me of the days where you didnt care for graphics or mechanics. the game was what it was and you could really appreciate that. almost 21 here too and I can only hope that my kids someday will be able to experience their own nostalgia with whatever it is they identify with i still have my copy and Xenogears makes me want to buy a PS just to play em long live squaresoft
I'm glad someone else knows how I feel about this game! A great title. It's all about having fun- not trying to push graphics to the limit or give you hundreds of choices to get like 40 different endings- the story is what it was. A trait I loved and still love. Nowadays, some of the best video game titles are like fallout and elder scrolls, where it feels like the character doesn't feel genuine to the world he/she lives in- instead, the character was an addition.
this is one of the best ps1 game i have ever played, until now when i hear this song i fell like i just played it yesterday. i really wish to play it again.
You know what? I think they should make a third musashi game, but it should have the style of the 1st game, with the graphics and some of the gameplay of the second. That'd be the best. And the story should be like the 1st as well, and not the shoddy story like they had in the 2nd, where it was choppy and didn't make much sense.
If they ever decide to, they should make an anime out of musashi. I think it'd go over well, after all, they made anime out of worse games, haven't they?
Although it was an early playstation game (I think it came out in '98) it had some of the best gameplay mechanics for a long time.
Not only was it fun, but you could involve yourself with all the other characters, bringing a kind of "society changes" or so to speak, that you see in more modern games, where their selling point is "every decision you make affects the world around you" Only musashi had it before ANY other game. I have such good memories of musashi
THe new Musashi doesn´t look very samurai-ish..like this one sure he still uses the katana-zanbatou combo but he doesn´t even have a rival..like the Brave Fencer does,Grandrake doesn´t count he is the last bosss! The Samurai Legend looks like a moto boy with his clothes..but he is cool not a complete badass like Brave Fencer, but cool..
He indeed was. He was a man who had NEVER lost a sword fighting duel in his whole life. Not only was he real, there are also legends surrounding him and his life, saying that he killed lizard monsters in a certain area of japan. Musashi had also written two books, which as I understand it, are about self reliance and things like that.
Also, Musashi has also been called Bennosuke as well as Takezo (mentioned in the show "Heroes"). Musashi's skills were so great, he was named the sword saint.
Yes, but his name is Miyamoto Musashi. He was the worlds most famous samurai in frudal japan and created the Niten Ichi Ryu sword fighting style. And yes, he did indeed win every battle. Actually, Kojiro was his rival in real life just like the game, and Musashi killed him on an island with a carved oar. He wrote The Five Rings, teaching one how to become a great samurai and becoming one with yourself. He died right after finishing his book at age 65 in the cave he lived in.
I have this game only it freezes up on me now. So if anyone(in Atlanta or anywhere else) knows where I can get another copy, please inform me! By the by, love the music and TOTALLY LOVE THIS GAME! I hope Sqare Enix makes another Musashi game and takes time off of the FF and probably the Kingdom Hearts series to make a Brave Fencer Musashi sequel(no offence to any FF or KH fans out there!).
you know, they have a second Musashi game. It's called samurai legend Musashi. Its graphics are excellent, but i don't like the story too much. Still, if you loved the first one, then you should at least LIKE the second.
The main thing that killed the sequel for me was the lack of free-roaming. I mean, you could sort of move around however you wanted, but the areas weren't connected like they were in the original. Also, it seemed more like an action game than a RPG to me.
i thought it was... kinda free roaming, but i see what ya mean. You need the anthadon to move anywhere.
Well, i think both games were supposed to be action-rpg styled. If you have movement like the first, its an action game. If you can increase skills, it's an RPG. If you have both, then its an action-RPG. I have to say, i don't like them giving musashi that bellyshirt thing he had. I know that there are a lot of anime samurai who had em but it looks stupid. Also, the first had a better voice
Man, I couldn't even bring myself to finish the darn tutorial. it was just...blah. Stupid cat thing, the fighting wasn't fun at all, and the magic was just gone. ):
i think that they should give one more push with the musashi series. if it sells well, then they should continue the series. If not, well, then we at least have our memories...
uh, i have the game samurai legend musashi, and i KNOW it's not a remake. They're completely different. Different world, different enemies, different characters. What are you talking about?
i don't know what to say. i could name everything on this game, but instead i'll just say... that his game rocks! wish they would continue it or something (not that stupid sequel)
I will never forget this legendary game...this game kept me sane all throughout middle school. Gawd, I feel old. Squaresoft > Square-Enix.

herofromthedark 3 years ago
o_O
Squaresoft fused with Enix of Dragon Quest / Dragon Warrior in 2002/2003.
After this, is a bad game after other.
enyrae 3 years ago
? I thought that level 5 did dragon quest...
herofromthedark 3 years ago
Level 5 did DQVIII in association with Enix, but Enix (now Square-Enix) is the owner of Dragon Quest series.
enyrae 3 years ago
So, what else did Enix make?
herofromthedark 3 years ago
You know what? I think they should make a third musashi game, but it should have the style of the 1st game, with the graphics and some of the gameplay of the second. That'd be the best. And the story should be like the 1st as well, and not the shoddy story like they had in the 2nd, where it was choppy and didn't make much sense.
If they ever decide to, they should make an anime out of musashi. I think it'd go over well, after all, they made anime out of worse games, haven't they?

frickin epic

Why are the games now complete shit very few live up to the older games like musashi
DNmasterD 3 years ago 4
I can't tell you how or why...

The Samurai Legend looks like a moto boy with his clothes..but he is cool not a complete badass like Brave Fencer, but cool..
pool people!
Who wins?!

DNmasterD 3 years ago 4
is Minamoto Musashi a real person? I asked because I heard about the name in multiple games.
LordAion19 3 years ago
He indeed was. He was a man who had NEVER lost a sword fighting duel in his whole life. Not only was he real, there are also legends surrounding him and his life, saying that he killed lizard monsters in a certain area of japan. Musashi had also written two books, which as I understand it, are about self reliance and things like that.
Also, Musashi has also been called Bennosuke as well as Takezo (mentioned in the show "Heroes"). Musashi's skills were so great, he was named the sword saint.
herofromthedark 3 years ago
Yes, but his name is Miyamoto Musashi. He was the worlds most famous samurai in frudal japan and created the Niten Ichi Ryu sword fighting style. And yes, he did indeed win every battle. Actually, Kojiro was his rival in real life just like the game, and Musashi killed him on an island with a carved oar. He wrote The Five Rings, teaching one how to become a great samurai and becoming one with yourself. He died right after finishing his book at age 65 in the cave he lived in.
ryneofthesevenseas 3 years ago
He also never bathed. And he purposely showed up to duels late just to piss people off. He also killed a 12 year old.

Probably find it on Ebay.
GreigaSP 3 years ago
you know, they have a second Musashi game. It's called samurai legend Musashi. Its graphics are excellent, but i don't like the story too much. Still, if you loved the first one, then you should at least LIKE the second.
herofromthedark 3 years ago
The main thing that killed the sequel for me was the lack of free-roaming. I mean, you could sort of move around however you wanted, but the areas weren't connected like they were in the original. Also, it seemed more like an action game than a RPG to me.
Bryantzerox 3 years ago
i thought it was... kinda free roaming, but i see what ya mean.

Stupid cat thing, the fighting wasn't fun at all, and the magic was just gone. ):
Diascope 3 years ago
i think that they should give one more push with the musashi series. if it sells well, then they should continue the series. If not, well, then we at least have our memories...
herofromthedark 3 years ago
well they made samurai legend musashi and there can only be 1 musashi game and a remake cause the games based on the japanese legend and manga
uberari 3 years ago
well, i don't think this is based off the manga. That's something else. Anyways, that's not held square enix from remaking their games before.
herofromthedark 3 years ago
they already made the remake just not a very good one
uberari 3 years ago
and what was that called?
herofromthedark 3 years ago
samurai legend: musashi and no it was not a sequal its a renake
uberari 3 years ago
uh, i have the game samurai legend musashi, and i KNOW it's not a remake. They're completely different. Different world, different enemies, different characters. What are you talking about?
herofromthedark 3 years ago 2
sorry i yhought it was
uberari 3 years ago
no worries, but i'm just hoping they'll make a remake of the original.

Too bad this game didn't get the recognition it truly deserved, since it came out around the same time Zelda : Ocarina of Time did.
Sucks...
If they released it afterwards, damn, it would've had better publicity.
Other than that, not that many people are aware of this masterpiece...
