Hey man i got a 08 F150 Super crew with the 5.4L in it and i am trying to get some mods but not too expensive if you know what i mean. how much did you pay to get yours to run like that? and also when i step on it, the trany shifts at 5100 RPM's how can i get it to rev to maybe 6000?
Start off with a good CAI, like the AEM, and a set of headers added by a high flow muffler. The better the flow, the better the power. Our stock cams will not give much power at 6000 RPM, it would be the same power it makes at about 3400 RPM; that is if it will even be able to rev that high. My NSR cams redline at 6200 but my power starts to drop off at 5500. After you add the mods, get a dyno tune. You sould get about 30 rwhp out of that. Plus, the added flow will allow you to shift higher.
hey how are those cams treatin ya? whats the duration/effective range on those? you mentioned the thumpr cams...i dont really understand if those are just for sound or it they are actually really hot...
The Thumpers are really for sound, but unlike some other brands, they also give good performance. Keep in mind though, these are not a high lift profile (NSR..or no springs required) so you can expect about 25 rwhp increase, more so with a tune. My cams are the XFI NSR Stage One 253/270 seat-seat (214/227 @ 0.05" Lift) with 0.450 lift. Stock is 175/193 @ 0.050" Lift.
good to know I was planning on putting a locker and 4.10s in the rear and the frpp hot rod cams and headers in. your truck runs pretty good for n/a did you notice a big increase in acceleration with the 4.10s was it worth the swap, I've got 3.73ls and before the whipple mine was a slug off the line i didnt even get out of second in the quarter thanks again
I did see a big improvement with the gears. I also had 3.73 gears, but with 31" tall tires. First gear @ 5200 is 42 mph, 80 mph @ 5600 in second, 130 mph @ 5800 in third... One thing I noticed is that I can keep it in overdrive going 120+ with the 4.10 and cams. Stock tuned with 3.73 it would slow down to 113 in 4th.
2000-2100 RPMs. The NSR cams are not that lopey, you need to look at the new Thumper cams for the Ford 3v motors. They sound GREAT if you like lope. I had Ford put the cams in. I could probably figure out how to get them in, but timing them :/ I don't know. The NSR should take 6 hours. But replacing the springs and doning phaser mods 10 hours. Springs, phaser limiters, and high lift cams will also give you that sound, but with huge tq and hp gains, almost 50 rwhp/rwtq with 800 rpm increase.
how hard was it to install the cams and does it give you a lopey idle like the frpp hot rod cams also what rpms do you run at 60-65 mph on the highway with those 4.10s
is that the 2v?
