  • My word its massive :O Really beautiful, thanks for sharing

  • its soooo shiny.......

  • This is handcrafted by Peter Lyon and is NOT the United Cutlery version. Peter did most of the 'Hero swords' for the movie and is a renowned weaponsmith. This sword is different from the UC one in several ways, firstly, it's sharp, it is also full tang (Not rat tang) so you can swing it and cut things without risk And teh fact that it is hand crafted means that it is very detailed and the best possible replica that you can get, and blows all the other funcional replicas out of the water.

  • @TheCreedofAssassinos It's point of balance is also at the hilt, meaning it is easier to handle and is 'perfect'. This is, quite honestly, the greatest of all swords!

  • Is it The UC version

  • if thats actualy one of his there worth 6 to 8 thousand wow

  • are all the united cutlery andurils handcracfted by peter lyon???

  • @TheNLguy They are most likely licensed by him-similar to how Gibben has factory productions of his designs.

Founders-actually stainless steel is suitable for swords. It is not the brittle material that people makes it out to be. Don't be deceived by a factories poor job at properly heat treating them.

  • Congratulations col, you surely own one of the most beautiful swords in history, made by one of the best swordsmiths. There is no question, where the difference between this one and the UC stuff is. It's like comparing a VW Polo with a Maybach. I have just ordered Glamdring from Weta myself and think it is a good choice. Those perfectly balanced, fully functional swords are a class of its own.

  • can u bend the sword like peter lyon does in the extra's on lotr? i really wanted to have one of these... this is as real as it can get!!!!

  • @ProportaReviewsUK Nope, what he did there was "spring aluminium", that particular sword wasn't functional. Search for "Scene by Scene - New Zealand (Weta Workshop)" and scroll to 3:21. Hope this helps!

  • @jasongsux thanks for the reply mate! cheers

  • Would a sword of the same caliber have cost the same to produce in the Medival age?

  • oh damn.

What steel is that sword made of? I'm guessing it has to be a carbon steel.

  • @LunarEclipsism1

It's actually priced somewhere around US$6.500 (if you include sharpening and mirror polish - this one is satin, I think) when converted from NZ$.

However, (optional) scabbard is US$3K and belt is US$1.5K.

If there's a better movie sword in the world, I don't know about it.

And there's only 10 of us who own it. :)

  • Make no mistakes, folks--that's no United Cutlery Wallhanger. THAT is what a $9000 sword looks like. Holy smokes. Congrats to you, sir, I'll never have pockets quite that deep, but you got the best of the best, and she looks very nice. I wish you could post an HD video so we could get a better sense of the looks. :-) Thanks for sharing.

  • @LunarEclipsism1 Sorry I see no difference between that and the UC sword?

  • @MajorHowdy Basically the Difference is in the Steel. A sword made out of Stainless steel is for Decoritive use only. As a Side note I think the UC swords have rat tail tangs.. This means you should not be swinging and cutting with them. There are reasons for this. If you want a Wall Hanger, get a UC, if you want something to swing around, get one with a solid tang and made out of Carbon Steel.
