  • @joshmuckofficial I know, I own it. I think his direction is still top-notch despite the terrible script.

I just hope it's not the last thing he does, I hope he makes more. He's working on one right now, but need he's looking for funding.

Damn people. John Carpenter shouldn't have to look for funding.

  • Damn he's old, but awesome!

  • @normansmother1 I think Halloween should be left alone as it was. Just the singular first movie, not even Halloween 2.

But yeah, I want Carpenter to start directing again. He is my ultimate inspiration and is one of the greatest filmmakers who ever lived. I love every single one of his films (Escape from La, Vampires, ALL of THEM are included).

But yeah, I hope he gets back into it. Carpenter should keep making movies, it would be fantastic.

  • He's a legend

  • Always wanted to meet that guy! Few people got such a passion to movies like he does!

  • another sample on halloween stay away from 6 ft people wearing a jumpsuit and white mask with a knife

  • This man changed my life.

  • Comment removed

  • I'd bend him over and I'm not even gay.

  • @Razersun HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! That comment made my day. Oh - and John Carpenter is a legend. Had to be said again.

  • What a guy, pure legend!!

  • Inspiring

  • His movie "The Thing" is my all-time favorite horror film.

  • what he doesn't realize is that all his hard work is reflected in his masterpieces. he didn't have all the digital luxuries back in his heyday, and it shows. if he had been a film maker today, he would have opted for CGI instead of the amazing special effects that he used back then. i'm glad things worked out the way they did.

  • your the best john carpenter, love your inspiration and your movies of course

  • My all time fave director.

  • Mine too :-) Awaiting his new film coming soon. What a great and talented guy.

  • He used to be, but after Ghost on mars and vampires, meeh.

He´s not even trying anymore .

Just so he can pay his bills

  • I think he makes enough on his films are always on cable, cos there classics. It's been ten years since ghosts of mars, creatively 'The Ward; could well be a come back. Here's hoping :-)

  • Hope so.

He also directed the best masters of horror episode, wich caught me off guard.

  • #1 underground, cult classic filmmaker of all time...Come on JC make a come back for you fans!!!...Not for these bull shit film companies these days...

  • I am looking forward to 'The Ward' coming soon. I really hope it is a return to form. He's the best.

  • I'll have to look into it. Didn't know he was making a comeback...

  • Can't wait...

  • i have a enjoyable fact for you actually. you might want to grab this game for at no cost at "ps3bigskydownload" - just open up google and key in "ps3bigskydownload". look at the very first link and you will be there. wish others like it.

  • Hes like AWESOME.

  • mr.carpenter one of the great directors

  • I'm soon going to a film school and I'm currently making amateur movies with my classmates. And it's a good advice.

Seriously, everytime I hit an obstacle in filmmaking I think "what would John Carpenter do?".

  • I'm a sucker for the way he ends his movies. What a great film maker :o)))

  • Carpenter is a very optimistic man,; though his movies are so dark.

  • Nice!!! His moveis are some my most favorite. I saw Assault On Precint 13 a few hours ago. It was awesome!!

  • so inspiring

  • damn right!!!

  • Good encouragement from a living legend.

  • John Carpenter you are my favorite director of all time. I love all of your films. You have truly inspired me. I only hope someday I could meet you in person and tell you what your work has meant to me.

  • You took the words right outta my mouth.

  • Yeah, he's pretty much the best director on the planet.

  • He isn't reading the comments. ;)

  • rotflmao

  • Amen bro, I could've said EXACTLY the same thing had you not beat me to it! I feel that John Carpenter is to film-making what Jim Morrison is to music!

  • When you get to meet him, you will not be disappointed. He is sweet, down to earth, intelligent, and very kind to his fans. He will tell you things the way he sees them but does so in a very kind and open-minded way. I have met him and have heard him speak several times. I'll keep going back for more. He's that interesting!

  • God, I envy you already...Carpenter's films have influenced me so much and those are the kind of films I wanna make. Abstract, interesting, and ultimately fun.

  • You last word are a very good definition !

  • Waouh man ! That must awesome !!

It must be so great meet him and is very looking to some spirit of a free man and so smart and intelligent !

For me I met his pale in Cannes, Kurt Russell, a strong man yet !! It was for Death Proof premiere, and I didn't talk about it !! Only Carpenter's movie and the ending of the Thing and Escape from LA. He appreciate a lot !!

  • @chrisjgarcia You realise he won't read this, so addressing it to him is pretty fucking stupid

  • @finbomartini I'm sure he KNOWS that. You obviously missed the "spirit" of the post being an open admiration for fans to rally around. And you want to be a director? You have no imagination!

  • @IluvEdKemper i have a fantastic imagination, but i realise its contained within my skull, i cant imagine the world to be anything it isnt, and he is stupid for addressing john carpenter as if we can communicate with him! its obvious i was just pointing it out

  • @chrisjgarcia I feel EXACTLY the same way.

  • Johns choice of music for his movies are always good. intense

  • True Legend.The end

  • top bloke.

  • Absolutely!! A master filmmaker and a great professional!! This 50 seconds are, like, the only filmschool you'll ever need.

  • John Carpenter is one of the greatest directors, I hope "Scared straight" release soon... long live to the master

  • Yeah, me too, it'll be really good to see one of his movies on film in a theater.

  • carpenter is one of the greatest directors ever. he has a very impressive body of work:dark star, assault on precinct 13, halloween, the fog, escape from new york, the thing, christine, starman, big trouble in little china, in the mouth of madness, ghosts of mars and to a lesser extent prince of darkness and they live.

  • great man, and great speak

  • I love Carpenters whole laid back persona. Very cool and stresses the point that the man who works hardest is the true achiever. He like Eddie Van Halen didn't claim himself to be a genius at his medium of art he just worked the hardest. Very cool guy and also very humble minded

  • one of the greatest directors in history

  • a great man

  • Thanks for posting this. Great advice from an amazing director to anyone interested in film.

  • I love that amazing man!

  • watch my film... "the trooper"

    watch?v=H1dG1IK-aqc

  • wow dude real genious

  • wow dude real genious

  • Great words from one of my biggest heros.

  • Great words from one of my biggest heros.

  • Great words from one of my biggest heros.

  • WATCH MY FILMS THEN!!!!!!

  • carpenter is absolutely right. too bad these days kids would rather be walking IMDBs than go out and keep making one film after another.

  • good directer

  • He is RIGHT on this. The best thing is to go out and make a film, and then make another, and another, and another and keep on showing and working on the films. This will take YEARS to do but it can and will be done. And put it up on YouTube and other websites that host videos so people can see. Because of the net, many of films have been seen by people worldwide.

  • He is *the* man. Period.

  • Excellent inspiration from one the best directors ever: JON CARPENTER!!

"It's the only way to make it", as he says. Who cares if it's on DV, Hi-DEf, 16 mmm... You are still telling stories with motion pictures, right? Let's take his advice!!

  • he's straight to the point, no bullshit or anything. he says it how it is. what a guy

  • He´s te one!

  • legend

  • I love this Men

  • the dude is so right.

  • John Carpenter: true pioneer, pure inspiration! You rule man...

  • great advice from a great director

  • Yes, Carpenter is absolutely right. He, and many others, along with Kubrick also say the same thing, "The best way to learn how to make a film, is to MAKE A FILM". There's something to be said about today's indie film makers - they're going places BECAUSE they're MAKING FILMS. We, in this generation have all the technology at our finger tips to do this, and like someone else posted, "why bother sitting on one's ass dreaming when one can get out there and make a film?!"

    Thanks for this clip.

  • He's right, You can sit on your ass dreaming or get out and start doing.

  • oh rly no way
