Serverus Snape was the best character in the book. He was my favorite from the beginning. Everyone told me he was rude and mean and they hated him. But I would shut them up real quick. He was probably the bravest in the entire book. When he was killed by Voldemort my heart shattered. Snape will live on forever. He is the best character ever!!

He had a bad relationship with his dad, was bullied constantly, lost the one thing he loved more than anything and after she wrote him off as a friend, had to cope with her death. Then he had to be a spy, risk his life, KILL someone, etc. He died hours before the war ended, when he could have finally been free to LIVE again. He helped the son of his tormentor all in the name of love. He bullied Harry, but does that REALLY make him an anti-hero? If anyone, James is.
I'm totally agree with you... Snape had a really diffiicult and cruel life and just because a frase he lost what he loved most in his whole life. Honestly Lily exagerated with that, he apologized until tears but she didnt listened and that marked their lives forever. He didnt deserved it, no one, even voldemort. Their past changed their futures in everything and that is really sad... TT.TT OMG i think im gonna cry!

The love and redemption themes in DH were really what really made this a superb series. Snape made many mistakes, and he was a mean, bitter man. He had once been a supporter of Voldemort. But he changed - even if his reason was somewhat selfish, his love for Lily, was enough. He DID change is the point.
We always knew Harry, Ron, and Hermione would never suddenly go evil; to see someone who has made the wrong choices change, is powerful.
I disagree with your statement that nobody was a fan of Snape until DH; many people were intrigued long before. I am not defending the cruel things he did, but he is easily the most complex character JKR came up with, and as readers we wanted to understand him. Even at the end of HBP, I found myself wondering, I didn't think he'd "shown his true colors" as some did - there had to be some reason behind it (also, if nothing, i trusted dumbledore to have good reason to trust Snape)

So like any child wanting acceptence and to fit in somewhere, Snape joined them and eventually joined the death eaters.
Lily's death made him see the light finally and he turned his back on the death eaters, spying for the light until he died.
And yes, James was an idiot when he was younger, but everyone( except snape) said he was a really good man. He fought the right battle in the first war and died for his family, he was a good man. I think James and Lily were good together, and I think he changed his way for her.

Well, I don't think that he ever really changed. He switched sides, but inside he was always the same - caring only about himself, because noone else would care about him. Being cruel to weaker people as a form of aggressive defense. He only respected Dumbledore because he was so powerful. But it is important to remember why he was like this, so that we may learn from the story and make sure that we never ever push our classmates, our children, our colleges that far.

@squeegy29 I thought he was a very tragic character. However unpleasant he was, his past and his relationship with Lilly showed he had a very humane soul and was capable great love. I would say he was one of the few genuine cases (bearing in mind he is a work of fiction) of a character more f**ked up than evil. Yes, Snape was the anti-hero, but like all good anti-hero's he had a good and thoroughly decent - albeit impure - heart beneath the surface.

i don't hate either or them and neither is the better man they both have faults as far as i'm concerned. snape just did worse than james however but over all i can help but like snape more because of everything he risked for without anyone knowing (save dumbledore)

Poor Snape got involved with the wrong crowed, so Poor snape yelled the Bad word so Lily with the combination of wrong crowd and The word mudblood didn't help, and I my look like I protecting James' actions but look at it this way he was a more extreme of George and Fred, take on account that he may of been a bit jealous of Snape for having Lily around him so much. So to have really have them be together would of taken Snape no getting involved with wrong crowd and yelling Mudblood at Lily.

No, he isn't. Have you read Deathly Hallows? Or OotP? They both say clearly that Snape and Lily were in Hogwarts together at the same time, as were James, Sirius, Lupin and Peter.
Even though at school James was an ass , maybe when he grew up he became a better person, maybe even better than Snape. She didnt want Snape because he was becoming a Death Eater , and he only cared about him and her , nothing else. He didnt even care if Voldemort murdered Harry and James.
You know, before I watched this video, the SnapeLily pairing had never really occured to me. It just served as a way of explaining why everything happened the way it did, a smaller part of the storyline. But now, when I see it on it's own, my heart just melts. When I saw the pic of Snape at the Mirror of Erised, I actually cried aloud in shocked sympathy. This is going to my faves for sure, along with five bright spangly stars. He constantly bullied Neville, even though he knew about Neville's tough situation, and he reduced Hermione to tears. He went out of his way to be cruel to Harry and Harry never liked him. And I doubt that any one else really liked him until DH. He changed, but to late and even then he wasn't very nice.. (message continues)

@squeegy29 That's not necessarily true you can't make that kind of generalization. Sure he's was a jerk from the start but there were plenty of Snape fans way before DH, including myself. (I'm sure some people started liking him after DH) but
I always thought there was some good in him despite his flaws. Sure he's not the most moral person,He's the flawed hero and I liked him since the first book.

@Yunnnni Well I'm one of these. I never really liked Snape, to me he was the mean teacher who juste hated Harry because he had destroyed Voldi / was so famous / Was his father's son (pick one). And then I arrived at DH and just got it ! Since then, i'm quite of a Snape fan but i'm not forgetting that he remains kind of evil.

@squeegy29 i agree, but you're wrong about people not liking him before DH. i liked snape waaaayyyy before DH came out. he had a pretty dedicated fan base before DH came out, I remember, i was in the middle of it. snape was my favorite character since before OOTP was released. i thought he was fascinating

Well, I don't think that he ever really changed. He switched sides, but inside he was always the same - caring only about himself, because noone else would care about him. Being cruel to weaker people as a form of aggressive defense. He only respected Dumbledore because he was so powerful. But it is important to remember why he was like this, so that we may learn from the story and make sure that we never ever push our classmates, our children, our colleges that far.

@squeegy29 Yeah, I was actually just thinking about that. Even though I love him to death, he was a pretty nasty guy...I guess if you think about his past (Not brought up well as a child, and losing the only girl he's ever loved) you can see why he's so horrible...I can see what you mean though.

@squeegy29 I thought he was a very tragic character. However unpleasant he was, his past and his relationship with Lilly showed he had a very humane soul and was capable great love. I would say he was one of the few genuine cases (bearing in mind he is a work of fiction) of a character more f**ked up than evil. Yes, Snape was the anti-hero, but like all good anti-hero's he had a good and thoroughly decent - albeit impure - heart beneath the surface.

I think she liked him because he wanted to be an Auror, hated Dark wizards, and she didn't like Snape, because he joined the Death Eaters.
Why? Because everyone hated him, everyone mocked him, when Snape never did nothing to anyone. He joined because had no one, only a troubled infancy and everyone against him.

i don't hate either or them and neither is the better man they both have faults as far as i'm concerned. snape just did worse than james however but over all i can help but like snape more because of everything he risked for without anyone knowing (save dumbledore)

Poor Snape got involved with the wrong crowed, so Poor snape yelled the Bad word so Lily with the combination of wrong crowd and The word mudblood didn't help, and I my look like I protecting James' actions but look at it this way he was a more extreme of George and Fred, take on account that he may of been a bit jealous of Snape for having Lily around him so much. So to have really have them be together would of taken Snape no getting involved with wrong crowd and yelling Mudblood at Lily.

This video is extremely emotional. It was very well made. I felt so sorry for snape but what made me the saddest was his patronus turning into a doe's like hers :( I love the harry potter books. Alot of people die but Rowling could have made some gud people stay alive like tonks and lupin :( Poor teddy :(

How could Lily do that to Snape? I just don't get why she hated James and left her best friend for him. I understand that Snape called her a mudblood, but he said he was sorry and he truly deserved her! He had been waiting for all his life and James was so blown up and arrogant, I don't think she should have ever seen anything in him. Then again, without him, we wouldn't have Harry Potter! uh!

OK since you've started reading this its too late to stop. in 2001 a 15 year old girl was killed in a clearing in scotland. nobody knows who or what killed her but there is scratch marks all over her body and she looks horrific. she is said to roam around the world and can go 2 places at once. if you dont post this comment on 5 other videos or websites in ten minutes she will suddenly attack you and kill you in some gruesome way. this is scary coz it happened to my friend. please.

No, he isn't. Have you read Deathly Hallows? Or OotP? They both say clearly that Snape and Lily were in Hogwarts together at the same time, as were James, Sirius, Lupin and Peter.

You know, before I watched this video, the SnapeLily pairing had never really occured to me. It just served as a way of explaining why everything happened the way it did, a smaller part of the storyline. But now, when I see it on it's own, my heart just melts. When I saw the pic of Snape at the Mirror of Erised, I actually cried aloud in shocked sympathy. This is going to my faves for sure, along with five bright spangly stars. Now please excuse me while I hunt for more SnapeLily vids. xD
