I loved feeling like part of the band @ the Brandy House.......what a true icon of many generations past and will forever be taking us to the moon in his elevator......
THE best bar band there ever was. The Aquarium Rescue Unit & the Col. were THE tightest band around. REISSUE LIVE MATERIAL FROM THESE GUYS SOON!!!!!!!!!!
Love the Col. I was an impressionable teen when I asked him, after listening to the HGB album too many times, "Who is Jim Evans?" He replied, in a very comforting tone, "Just a friend, man. Just a friend."
Col. Bruce and the ARU were for awhile, in terms of technical skill and sheer joy, the BEST live band in awhile.
I've met a ton of bands, famous musicians, hung backstage, worked for labels, all that. Bruce Hampton was the only person that I ever felt that I absolutely needed that man's autograph. And I felt both honored and embarassed to ask for it.
Wow, Derek Trucks says he might not be playing professionally if he hadn't met up with Col. Bruce Hampton when he did. That really says something about Col. Bruce's spirit.
I often wonder how musicians can get up night after night to play for us. I suspect there has to be something more than money as a motivation.
Been waiting for this for a couple years now: signed up for a mailing list and yet to hear anything, bring it on!
