That is Nada Tunnel :Nada Tunnel was largely hand-carved to make a road for logging trucks back in the early 1900s. Two teams began in 1910 on each end and worked their way to the middle using steam-powered jackhammers and carbide lamps. The tunnel opened to railcars in 1912 and helped in the transportation of timber. This 900-foot tunnel is for one-lane traffic only and is a very unique way to enter the Red River Gorge. Nada Tunnel is on the National Register of Historic Places.
LOOKS like your at the breaks which is a great place to visit so many times in the media and on the internet eastern ky is depicted as a slum junked cars and old satilite dishes this PROVES THEM WRONG thank yuou so much for your post
This is Nada Tunnel on rt. 77. Once you pass through the tunnel you decend in the Red River Gorge. I've spent many days camping, hiking and rock climbing in this canyon. Good fishing in the river too !
On my way to Nada tunnel today to go out for a hike through the gorge. If you think that area reminds you of Scotland you should venture further east around floyd and pike co.
My Dad took us to Natural Bridge a lot when I was a kid too. He had family lived pretty close by, so we always took in the sights when we went there from Ohio.
i encourage any and everybody to come see the out door slender in kentucky. its asolutely beautiful. I thank goodness every day i live so close to it all. Its a great way to escape for a weekend. I also think the state parks are offering 2 nites for 1 nite if you bring a coupon off of a pepsi carton.
Thankyou for the nice video. I live in central Illinois and haven't traveled much for many years. The tree covered hills are awesome! Different from here. That flute has quite a sound to it too.
Beautiful area. Seems like a great event with the indigenous artifacts. It would've been great to have seen a demonstration of the atlatl.
I'm from Pikeville, and I don't recognize the area. But there is so much around here that it's hard to pinpoint. If anyone finds out for sure please do post the location. I'd love to visit!

It definately is the Red River Gorge. The last of the video they come out on hwy 15 and turned left toward Stanton, right would have taken them to Natural Bridge.
I couldn't really say where exactly it was, somewhere near Pikeville I think. We went through some old railway tunnels which are now roads. I think there my be maps on line of Eastern Kentucky railroads, and where the tunnels were.
Yup i believe that is the
