@MasonBangsDrums Sometimes when you re on the road for many days shit happens. A cymbal might crack or break. But there is not always time for replacement. Notice also that in tour packages sometimes, in order to save space in trailers and time during change overs, bands share some equipment. Same here
I love the fact that he plays a blast with his feet, which makes his arms free. I just recently discovered Septic Flesh and holy crap, this guy's amazing.
TheWTF666 can you verify that Fotis is a student of George or heavily influenced by him? I watch this guy play and I see Kollias. This dude is awesome!
@masakur No Fotis has never been a student of George Kollias and i cant really say he is influenced by him cause their careers are parallel until now and both drummers go back many years. I dont know George personally but I know Fotis and i know he respects George's work and playing as he does for every good musician -metal or non metal- . Fotis though , having studied with major jor funk/jazz greek drummers has developed his own unique style.
@masakur What I can also say, is that Fotis' hits and strokes are killers considering the speed and you dont find this very easily..Also i would suggest listening to his work in Nightrage's Descent Into Chaos album and of course Septic Flesh's Communion album. There are songs in there like Babel's Gate that have a kind of drumming you wont find in Nile albums. I find Fotis' playing a bit more interesting in there. Dont get me wrong. Both are excellent drummers worty looking up to them.Takecare
@masakur naaah, dude! they only appear from behind! but they're two tottaly different styles.
benardo ins't like a "oh, I'm the best. look at me" drummer as kollias.
I like more the benardo's style. The kollias' one is.. I don't know... to "just the same thing" in every song. badass double bass drum, too fast blastbeat.. but.. that's all. benardo plays more with the drums... and his hellblast I thing is amazing..
Why at 0:14 he plays the snare drum through his left foot with an electric bass drum? You can tell because he only does tricks with his hands on the cymbals
He is doing single foot blast BUT instead of the traditionalol way, where someone would use his left arm on the snare, Fotis uses his left foot on a second snare arranged properly to be played with a kick pedal. SO it's NOT an electric bass drum. Its a snare placed down to be played with the foot. The first idea was to have it triggered, but it turned out to be fine with a mic on the bottom. So actually the trigger is just hooped on the snare but its not actually used.
Why does he have a broken china... He is endorsed ffs. Get it together masterpiece.

This would be a good idea if he used it to make room for interesting cymbal work.

The reason doing this is , is the freedom that it provides for the hands to play on the cymbals while blasting on the same time.
