thats was half cantonese and half mandarin! hao is mando for good and yeat is canto for hot... it should have been hao ri (mando) or ho yeat (canto)! chinese is an umbrella term for canto, mando, it's not a language!
i'm chinese and that's my all time favorite chinese dish shrimp w/walnuts... it's totally bad for you but i could never get enough! also this guy is doing it right, chinese ppl usually serve family style, everyone gets a bowl of rice and picks whatever they like
@Paulpunkrocks you can make it not so bad by using low fat mayo and fat free sweet condensed milk. it's still lots of calories but at least you dont feel so terrible :D
I made the walnut shrimp recipe from this video, came out awesome and barely takes any time to cook. plus the honey candied walnuts make an awesome snack by themselves.
This chef is amazing...He must get a LOT of exercise while cooking...What I like about chinese cooking is the fast pace at which the food is cooked, the small cuts of meats/veggies and the vibrant flavours that come through in each and every bite...That walnut shrimp sauce looks like it's packed with as much calories as it has flavour...The fact that the chef made up the recipe for the walnut shrimp shows just how creative he is...It's clear that this chef cares about quality & his customers.
5:18 of course u would say that. wat wouldn't be good from there jajajjajaja damn man i guess we can all just give up sometimes n say F@#k it gheez but wow everything does look good the king crab legs look soooo good. benny is always looking at guy all worried to see if he likes it comeon guy likes everything. at 1:57,4:53 annnnd at the 6:36 Benny i wish i was there before i die im going there n hopefully before the restaurant closes which i hope never happens or Benny passes away i hope not
what's cool is the craziest things turn out to be the best one time we cooked a pig in the ground for thanksgiving awesome with a couple of gallons of moonshine
Benny Lin, man this chef is awesome or what? Because his life revolve around the kitchen, the way he cook is just like a robot - so fast, yet knows what he's doing. Wish I can own a restaurant and be my own boss!! Ahh, right now I'm content in just being a hard-working student.
The chef reminds me of Martin Yan...It's clear that he is to chinese cooking what the Colonel was to KFC or what Morimoto is to sushi...Watching this video made my mouth water...Everything moved so fast and looked so delicious and I could tell that Guy was genuinely impressed and loved every bite of everything he had at Pagoda...The chef/owner seems like a great guy.
Used to eat there every time I drove by on the way to/back from Fairbanks. (I lived in a small town south of there.) ABSOLUTE BEST. Nothing compares. I married a Chinese woman whose parents are first-generation immigrants, and they aren't as good at it as these people. None of the "secret" "non-Caucasian" restaurants they go to around here (So-Cal) compare, either. And BTW--real Chinese DO eat shrimp, I don't know what that one post-er was thinking (It's my wife's favorite.)
I used to work here in 1995, I love Benny, and I love the Mongolian Beef, great owners, great food, this is the best food I have ever had, I wish I still lived in the area!!!!
