Hey haters I know this isn't a great tutorial, it was one of my first, and the picture is honestly a horrible picture of me, which is why I chose it. Haha. Check out some of my newer tuts though, they're much better. Even though this video always receives more views for some reason.
<__< Don't listen to the damned idiots who say you have no idea what you're talking about. I for one, learned a lot from this video and will keep that in mind next time I use Photoshop! =D
Photoshop Elements 5. It has mostly the same features as CS3 but lacks some advanced layer settings and other features. But I haven't come across anything I really need to do that I can't do with photoshop elements. It is MUCH cheaper, you get a lot more for your money.
If you wanted to do something really professional with a picture, you would find some troubles without having the full version of Photoshop. But i agree, Elements would work fine for something like this.
I agree with you on that now. I have CS now. I made this video at least a year ago. But for something basic like demonstrated in the video, and the average user, its a good version of photoshop.
@joshme17 Agreed. PSE is the way to go unless someone needs really top level professional abilities in a program. I still have not used anything in Photoshop that wasn't in PSE.
wow! This seems so easy to do and it makes such a subtle yet very important difference in pictures.. no one will be like "looks shopped" everyone will be like.."great skin" haha thanks!! <3
Im not being negative, but just respect photoshop and photo editing too much to think its ok to train people in in proper technique. I respect your videos, tho i dont respect why you dont train yourself further before teaching others. Dragging the heal brush across the skin to patch a large area at once is an unthinkable technique. PS> Out of 20 comments, im the only professional...
Hi, you can have trouble with the spot healing brush depending on your background, and the surroundings of the area you are correcting. If this happens you can undo it by pressing ctrl+z, or ctrl+alt+z depending on your version on photoshop. When you have trouble with the spot healing brush, its best to use the clone brush as described in the video.

Honestly. I wish you people read off a script or something because it is so annoying to here "so what we're going to do... so what we're going to do...." it just makes it so aggrivating.
Don't worry about it Josh, this was a video on skin softening, not cover pictures of magazines.
And I didn't find your speech very distracting honestly. I didn't even notice that you said , "so here's what we're gonna do" until after I read the comments.

Most everything your doing is a
poor workflow unfortunately and non professional.
I only complain because if your going to
"highly recommend" techniques that are of
such poor quality when there are so many
videos on youtube that you think you would
educating yourself on before educating others,
its a question of why bother.

After I use the healing brush over that huge area i undo it because i say it doesn't look good, to show what NOT to do.
I'm not trying to teach professionals, I'm trying to teach newbies.
joshme17 3 years ago
when i try to do the spot healing brush tool, it doesn't work.
like where the brush ends, it ends up rainbow?
and then i can't get rid of it, at least i don't know how to get rid of it.

Double check and make sure you have the right layer selected.
joshme17 3 years ago
why don't you just use the BLUR tool instead of duplicating the original layer to soften the skin?
ehlaipuccini 3 years ago
I prefer this way, is gives you more control.
joshme17 3 years ago
Control of what?
Every heard of masks?
knoose 3 years ago
There are many ways to do this. This is just one of many ways, if you prefer to do it a different way thats alright with me.
