  • i have the mpd26 and thinking about getting a kaoss pad. would anything good come out of it? id be using fruity loops more on the dubstep side of things. i want to know how to make it faster like you do when you hit the pads, idk how to though

  • thats an awesome performance! it would be amazing if you were able to show a full a tutorial on the prep for this performance! id really love to try and replicate your ideas with my mpd26

  • Hi vespers, I was just wondering what you use to glitch with your mpd32 pads.

  • this is some fucking epic shit!

  • so...generic

  • lady gaga gets millions of hits. the real hero only 13000 ??? ftw. keep up the good work dude love the sax sound

  • very good man! congrats!

  • Haha this is awesome!

  • Nice performance, add an MC some back choirs you've got a hit ! Thumbs up!

One question for you: if you pull off the sides on MPD and APC, is there a chance to fix them together to gain some room on my home studio sweet spot ?

  • Dude!! I never comment on YouTube vids but I feel the need to here.. I have exactly the same setup as you (minus the sax of course haha) but damn that was sick! Major fucking props sequencing the live sax man, that was epic!

  • cool stuff...more of that pls :D

  • CHYEYAAAA

  • Very great use of the APC40 I must say! I own one myself but man... I can only imagine the amount of preparation you put into these clips. How much time do you invest, in average, before you proceed to a live set like this?

BTW, great to subscribe to a fellow Canadian who loves electronic & music! :)

  • @chamberlainpi Hey mate. Yeah, a morning went into this set. Several hours straight for sure. Glad to connect with a fellow Canadian. Cheers!

  • @DJVespers Québec?

  • @antoinelevesque22 Vancouver :)

  • love it man. the beats already fire but with the sax it takes it to a whole new level.. also how do you use the mpd32 and apc40? thinkin about gettin the apc40 sometime since i already have the mpd32 but still have to figure out how to use the together.. and finally besides artillery 2 do you use any other 3rd party plugins? jc

  • @berserkace Hey mate. Glad you dig. I use the MPD32 to trigger sounds in Drum Racks and control an audio effects rack. I use the APC40 to trigger my clips and mix them. I use tons of 3rd party plugins. Too many to name, but check out Sugar Bytes, Native Instruments, Audio Damage, PSP, Ohm, and Universal Audio. Cheers!

  • @DJVespers thanks man and ill def check those out. Keep up the good work!!

  • I don't remember seeing this one!~ This is so awesome. Love the funky vibe.

  • @lenarst Sweet, glad you caught this one. Thanks for watching.

  • NIce, dig the groove and glitch! Do you sample your sax to a clip on your APC40 or are you using the looper? It looks like the clip but just curious... keep it up, sounds great!

  • @djevolved Thanks! The sax is running into Looper. I rarely use clip recording. Looper rocks.

  • Tight

  • Kicking like Jackie Chan. Track has enough soul to last quite awhile

  • @ontrack2008 Thanks mate. Much appreciated.

  • Subbed, soo good.

  • Dude, you are a legend. Not because of the music (which is nice) but because your useing hi tech music gear AND a saxaphone. Genius.

  • @realcoolking95 Thanks for the comment mate. Glad you're diggin the gear and sax. I love tech.

  • @DJVespers Its good to see someone bringing a new idea to the table :) (...or in this case, a sax)

  • @realcoolking95 Thanks mate.

  • this is probably your best live video...awaiting your album...greetings from croatia :)

  • @dENIStHEhEDONIST Thanks mate! I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I've decided to hold off on the album and instead release 2 EPs this summer. Both forthcoming on Pop + Lock Records and will be on Beatport and iTunes soon. Cheers!

  • what effect u use for those beat grids on the mpd ? nice stuff mate some talants !

  • @LuniBofficial That's Sugar Bytes Artillery II. Sick plug in. Grab it!

  • At first I thought "oh here we go AGAIN Somebody with some cool gear and not really doing much withit". But you quickly proved me wrong. I'm impressed, I subscribe. It's easy to find guy with the gear on youtube, there all over posting vids like crazy. Then there just a few really doing cool inspiring stuff. You are one of the cool ones thanks.

  • hey great song.. like ur style !!

    what monitors do you use???

  • @92energie Hey mate. I'm using KRK Rockit v5 monitors. Cheers!

  • your pretty cool:) Great vid

  • Nice done beautiful remix!

    How the setup audioeffects?

  • beside the sax being to dry sounds dope

  • Big Up

  • im Funking Digging it man!

  • great music! what is controlled by MPD32? when you touch pads, the sound repeats like it was sliced to many pieces. what is assigned for it in ableton? thanks!

  • @mikashlimmer that is called artillery.. it is made by sugar bytes.. it is awesome.. keyboard controlled fx processor.. good for live glitchin...

  • Totally new, totally great sounding, i think this is definetley a new wave of music! and sure to be popular! you have some skills man, really, keep it up!

  • Very good production I loved the Saxophone have this tune a nice feel to it. You have a lot of skills & I would love to see more from you. Is there an hope for a album coming out in 2010 ? also do you do a live PA for parties or is it all production/studio ?

  • Many thanks! I just posted another video last night that has some live PA work in it too and I talk about the gear and software I use as well. There will definitely be an album coming out in 2010. I'm already more than half done it. Also, I do live performances for sure, as well as the studio work. I love both. Cheers!

  • Everything is so hardcore but the sax gives it a soft touch. Great Vids Men. Holla if you ever make a release coz al be sure to buy it. With the way music is going people would need more than good-music reason to buy a record and a performace vid like this is a good incentive especially if there are no vocals involved.

  • nice mirror :D

  • that was awesome my friend

  • Thanks for the kind words. Glad you dig it. Cheers!

  • This is sick man! I'm really diggin' it.

  • What kind of a pick up is it that you're using on the sax?

  • It's an AMT Roam-1 Elite using a Shure Airline system for wireless audio. Very cool mic. It's my second one as I had the first one ripped off in Auckland! Some lucky Kiwi crackhead now has a sophisticated sax mic...haha.

  • is the Kaoss pad looping the Sax?

could it do that independant of the laptop?

  • The Kaoss pad can loop, but I'm using Ableton's built in looper plugin to do this. It can BPM sync with host tempo much more easily and midi map to a set of floor pedals I'm using for hands free operation.

  • WOW i strickly make hip-hop but i really really like this great job five stars all day

  • Thanks mate. Much appreciated! Keep bangin out the choons.

  • Why bother with cubase...use Live!

  • Agreed. Amen to that! I'm glad I used Cubase for production for the last 4 years, but now Live is just as capable a sequencer and DAW and MUCH more intuitive and fast. Love it!!!!

  • alright thanks d00d! Ha I appreciate when I come across nice ppl on the internet...not too common anymore

  • No worries mate. Glad to help out.

  • can you use this kind of setup with cubase?

  • Certain aspects of it could be used with Cubase for sure. The Akai MPD32 could be used with Cubase as it's a standard midi controller. The APC-40 could too if you remap everything I think.

Also, the FX plugins I'm using can be used with Cubase as they're VSTs. The live looping functions and the actual looped live performance would be next to impossible with Cubase though. It's not designed for live performance, only production and sequencing.

  • Great! Respect

  • Awesome !! Which software do you use for the glitch efx triggered from the MPD32 ?

  • Hey mate. Thanks for the props. The MPD32 is mapped to several instances of Sugar Bytes Artillery II running custom effects patches. Mainly loopers, tonal loopers, phasers, filters, and reversers. I used the Vyzex editor for the MPD32 to change the output key and midi channel of each drum pad to map properly. Artillery II is MASSIVE. Get it. Native Instruments The Finger looks pretty dope too.
