  • @F3n10 A demo is looking pretty possible, though I can't say just when. As far as system reqs, 128MB video memory and 1024x768 min resolution - but how well it'll actually run depends mostly on the graphics card and a bit less on the cpu. It's hard to nail down the requirements exactly.

  • It looks like a near perfect platform for the modding community. I know a lot of people heavy into table top gaming that would eat this up if it is left open enough so that player designed ships and rules modifications so players can engage whatever their favorite flavor of sci-fi is. From Star Trek to Babylon 5 to Firefly to Red Dwarf, the following you would garner from a community of tactical gamers that currently have little to no digital outlet for their obsession would be well worth it

  • @Hierofpersia He talked about this in his blog. This game isn't supposed to play out like a traditional RTS, or maybe not like an RTS at all. IMO, the current system is awesome as it is.

  • Indeed, some type of ETA would be nice on some features. And i must say, this video basically shows that this game in such an early alpha state has the features (modular ship damage and ahem, Working combat) that Sword of The Stars 2 was supposed to have on release, a friggin 40 buck game!

    Take my money! If i could get a refund for SOTS2 i'd friggin pay 40 bucks for this instead.

  • Thats really cool, just bought the pre release. Can you give an ETA on the features, like when this will be added and future things like the campaign or maybe a battle editor/custoom battles, not just random?

  • @SupercatLB No - in brief, it would require a very different game design (both in mechanics and architecture). On top of that, it's a lot of effort - which I'd rather expend on making the SP mode better, instead of spreading it too thin.

  • will there be broadside type ships in this? I love those type of ships. Will also get TB to try it out, should be able to bring a wave of interest to this if he makes a vid of it.

  • Can you / or are there plans to: customize ships in this game like in Gratuitous Space Battles? -or - make your own ships from various "pieces" like GalCiv2?

    Either way this looks awesome :)

  • @gnomechomskylives Thanks! Yep - in the current dev build (not quite yet available for download) you can already refit your ship with various weapons and hull modifications.

  • Very cool! I just got the alpha and have been playing through it, so it's extra exciting to see the new features you're cooking up. At this point in time, are there different AIs with different play styles? I couldn't help but think throughout this video that the Apogee would've done a lot better if it played to its strengths and fought at a distance rather than closing to knife-fighting range in front of the Dominator.

  • @Naurizt Hah, that's actually me flying the Apogee! I think I was a bit too focused on trying to get good footage. Although, the Apogee doesn't have enough long-range firepower to really dent the Dominator - it could harass at best, but needs to close in for the kill with those Antimatter blasters and Autopulse Lasers. Remembering to turn the shields on a few times would have helped, too :)

  • @Naurizt Oh, and to answer your actual question - the AI adapts its play style to the ship it's in, though there are also AI personalities. In this case, an AI-controlled Apogee would in fact stay away and harass the Dominator at range.
