  • @pamella757able As a man. i wouldnt say "prettier"...lol but I have to give it to Smokey, but I think eddie is good too! Dont miss Jeffrey Osbourne on drums... Tasty!

  • Smokey = smooth! This man is a songwriting genius!

  • One of my favorite songs of all time. My first live concert was to see Smokey at 14. I had a crush then and I still do. He could sing the alphabet to me and I would still melt.

  • The passage of time and goin' through so many heartaches and heartbreaks / we get strong, tough, wise,& defensive when it comes to FREELY ENJOYING THE BEAUTIFUL FEELING OF LOVE FOR SOMEONE / it's so sad that often times THE FEELING IS RARELY MUTUAL and we open ourselves to being used, abused, and hurt / it's having some kind of LOVING FEELING for your sex- partner that makes the sex more beautiful and enjoyable / HAVING A LOVING FEELING FOR SOMEBODY IS WHAT MAKES US HAPPIER PEOPLE !

  • This is my 1st time seeing this live performance of this 1974 mellow soul classic he is truly the original compare of this song when an artist puts so much of his heart and spirit into a song there is no point in anyone else TRYING TO just sing it / it will always be DEVOID of the HEART,SPIRIT,&SOUL of the original

  • Such a beautiful song very dreamy !

  • Sorry wasn't watching the video that close....that's not Marv on either guitar.

  • Smokey is one of the nicest people you'd want to meet. I met him July 4th of '03 and my God what a gentleman!!!! I also met Marv Tarplin(he's the one playing the guitar....very nice. • I got to find me a hat like that guy.

  • one of the finest musicians of all time that was not robbed by tragedy or abuse

  • he expresses so many emotions through his voice, unbelievable.

  • My girlfriend who was born and raised in Uruguay always said that she was conceived to this song. I always thought she was joking until her dad told me the story of a young man going back to Uruguay after finishing college in the U.S. with ten crates of nothing but soul records, and putting this album on the brand new hi-fi stereo system that was was a graduating & wedding gift from his boss at the record shop he worked at. His new bride in his words just melted.

  • smokey and marvin with a touch of barry always got the job done..................

  • Smokey and Bob Marley kinda resemble each other.

  • This song used to get the job done. if you get my drift.

  • Nothing like a lil Smokey, on a cold winters day!!! Bring it...

  • Is that Jeffery Osborne on the drums ?

  • @writer262...I saw him too,so i'd say yes

  • @writer262 I KNOW RIGHT WAS THINKING THE SAME THING

  • @writer262 yup!!!

  • @writer262 Good catch! That is Jeffrey Osborne playing drums- (and damn good I might add). He actually worked with Smokey as well as the O'Jays while trying to get his solo career off the ground after leaving LTD.

  • @emmettk This is before LTD.

  • this is live!!!!!!

  • Motown artist performed with lots of passion!~ nice~ where has that gone?

  • i soooo love this song..make you wanna sip some wine

  • Smokey was one of the few artists Don Cornelius would permit to perform live on Soul Train...Cornelius hated that. That's why almost everyone else lip synched.

  • @fanofprotopic a lot of artist performed live that was on the show early 80's when that lip sync shit started to happen. look at other vids. tons of artist live bands.

  • I just found out that jeffrey osborne is a long time friend of somkey , and thats him on the drums.

  • I knew that when Smoky sang that he was in so much pain.

  • Done w/ studio precision, yet it's live!!!! Smokey's a bad man!!!!

  • Way back!

  • down 2 the soul

  • I love the original (old school 4ever), but i have to admit mokenstef did their thing and made this joint their own. However, its nothing like the sweet sounds of Smokey!!!

  • @Chocolatechick20 look in my eyes and i'll make you melt too..lol

  • @MrBenthere2 LOl.....Unfortunately thats impossible, but you made me smile.lol

  • Soul Train, you will sorely be missed, there will be no others like the 70's and none other like Smokey, one of America's greatest poet.

Brothers who played the guitar and bass back then were some of the coolest brothers.

  • @kuongjah7 The guy playing the guitar is MARV TARPLIN He is one of the original members of THE MIRACLES. When Smokey left the group in 1972, his wife Claudette and Marv left as well. Claudette retired to raise the couples' 2 children, BERRY and TAMLA. Marv stayed with THE MIRACLES an additional year, then left in 1973 to tour and work with SMOKEY. MARV co-wrote this song with SMOKEY, along with writer PAM MOFFETT.

  • @williamg2552 Thank you. You went above and beyond and I appreciate that. Information such as this makes the experience that more complete.

  • @kuongjah7 you're very welcome.

  • Jeffrey playing for a legend before becoming a legend himself. Greatness begets greatness!!

  • this is the best... all timer right here. only other version i've ever heard that i like is by Mokenstef. they do it justice, but the original is king

  • OMG!! What a Man. If men could only talk and let their feelings show, there would be more Love and less War! This is Wonder-full music to live and love by.

  • As a 23 year old male I can surely say i'm glad I was able to see such a legend perform before it was to late.

  • Very nice upload :o) Classic!

  • Smokey in top form and Jeffrey laying out a sweet groove!

  • Classic!

  • HIt #7 soul, #27 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • Yes it was SWEET HARMONY *SMILE*

  • I think "Sweet Harmony" was Smokey's first solo release at leaving The Miracles.

  • @njblack73 Yes, you're right . SWEET HARMONY was his first solo single. It was written about and in dedication to THE MIRACLES.

  • This was Smokey's first solo record after leaving The Miracles...I remember this from early1974....I've always thought this song was totally underrated and deserved a higher chart position on the American charts.

  • Okay. I'm at work and I want to crawl under the sheets with my sweetie with this song playing in the backround and of course, you all know the rest :-) LOL..

  • why do I get the chills whenever I play this video? Smokey you do this to everyone? :)
