All I can say for how good muskets is they must've been fucking powerful considering a .50 caliber round was small for a musket.

@b0n3z3z It's not much a question of "Why are breech-loading rifles better than rifled muskets" (the answer is obvious) and more of a "The majority of soldiers still used rifled muskets at this time."

Oh, also, the muskets used in the civil war were rifled, so that eliminates the inaccurate part (to an extent.)

I'm saying how terrible muskets were.

But as I said, the .50 cal round was small for a musket, so even if you hit the leg, you're taking that man out of the battle indefinitely, where as with a smaller round, he could potentially shoot back.

With a musket, if you manage to hit him, whatever part of his body you hit is likely all over the nearest tree.
