The real problem is CONGRESS. They only care about the corp. and big money donors. They don't give a pennies worth for their constituents. Congress has the power to fix these problems and they want to argue and vote along party lines.
I write and call my "voices" in Congress a lot. I got one non-copy and pasted answer. It basically said I am not going to raise any taxes for rich people. Because the people who are making millions not a million or even three don't want to pay taxes to help USA.

These candidates in the debate, were echoing a lot of the things Ron Paul was saying 4 years ago. It's good to see they opened there eyes, but it's bad because it means they have swayed. Ron Paul, uses the constitution as a blue print. How can you go wrong? What is this "electability" mean? Rockstar like Obama? Lone Ranger like Bush? Movie star like Romney? The insurance business is inherently and by definition A SCAM. Think about it. If your home burns down and has to be rebuilt, just buy the materials and rebuild. Why do you need to have insurance salesmen, pay premiums, employ adjusters, fraud officers, get "insurance approved" contractors, etc.? It's a net drain on the economy to employ all those make work positions.
Let's say an earthquake does hit. Who has the money to repair it all? No one. They just print it.

An even better example of the insurance fraud is life insurance. Everybody dies. Are the insurance companies making a bet against death? How are they making money doing so? Well hopefully the premiums you have paid your entire life are greater than the death benefits you receive.
BTW, the insurance companies were also benefiting from the real estate bubble. They could sell huge premiums and make huge commissions because of the overinflated home prices.

If the American people had any balls, those that are reasonably healthy would drop their insurance company the very next time they hear of some ones kid being allowed to perish because the cure is considered experimental or any of the other excuses they will come up with, the truth is when you really need it, when your life is at stake, or your kids, they will find a reason to let you die if it will protect profits, thats how the free market would work, in truth that is the only way to fix it
