United States of Vespucci just dosent SOUND right, just as the most evil human last century behind Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, was originally christened at birth Schickelgruber.... FLMAO.... same deal: "Heil Schickelgruber" dosent sound right either.. Thank God they never succeded, but Hitler: 19 million dead, Stalin 50+ million dead, mostly his own people used as cannon fodder or mass mudered for being political or religious dissidents... best to forget that unspeakable holocaust and be
after his daughters FIRST NAME, as Vespucci did, but unfortunately Amerigo Vespucci's wife died giving birth also taking the life of his daughter, he intended to christen "America". In consolation, Queen Isabella granted Vespucci the honor of naming the continent.
BTW, on this album, "Scotland" and "the boy who ate lasagna and jumped over a church" equally share honors of my KM faves on this album. my all-time fave is from DP called "Sink".... LONG LIVE KING MISSLE!!!!
@scottbaioisdead... my source for this is atending my professor's lectures on the subject from attending Oxford University in 1985. It was a tiny factoid from his PhD dissertation, Dr. Louis Turansky. If you think i'm in error and you persist in your beliefs, so be it. The point is, its a hilariously funny song that contains an extremely little known truth. Just enjoy the music! Vespucci chose "America" (Latin feminine first name), just like Daimler chose to name his brand of car "Mercedes"
@scottbaioisdead. i appreciate your personal reply, but your historical data is grossly inaccurate. In fact, "america" is the feminine Latin form of the FIRST NAME of the Roman cartographer Amerigo Vespucci, and the nomenclature of his cartographic efforts was his compensation granted to him by his egoistic attempts at being ingratiating to the royal court of Queen Isabella of Spain, who financed Columbus's expeditions. It is a matter of extreme Italian nationalistic pride.
One of my all time KM favorites!!! MEGA THANKS FOR POSTING!!! FLMAO, because its ABSOLUTELY TRUE and 0.001% of "AMERICANS" are TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY IGNORANT of their countrys names origin. It should be called DIS UNITED STATES of VESPUCCI, since Amerigo Vespucci was the italian cartographer trying to gain favor for egos sake in Queen Isabella of Spains royal court. America is the FEMININE LATIN version of VESPUCCI'S FIRST NAME!!!!! Can you say Ultimate Vanity plate for your SUV? or JUST PIGS
@Mulkurul808 america is named after richard ap meryk or amerike he was a welsh cartographer who first put the name on a map and financed the trips to america by cabot in 1497, you don't name a country after your first name clombia isn't christoferia, the capitol of liberia isn't jamesia it's monrovia
happy we live in a country, TIME AND PLACE where we can enjoy music like KING MISSILE!!!!
