it will overheat.This is why......first of all if you ever feel the back you'll know that the hot air blows out harder on the bottom than the top vents. This " FAN " is blocking all of the bottom vents... Why would you do this? this fan is blocking half of the exhaust vents.

I Have an Xbox 360 & Xbox live. Yet, I prefer to spend money on a PS3 just for the simple fact that it has more pros then cons. The biggest con would be the online, but thats because it's free and the PS3 acts as its own server. With Xbox you get Xbox live.

So I don't think it's fair to compare Xbox live (a purchased & polished add-on product) with PSN (a free not-as-polished product) Now if you had to pay for PSN, I would say Xbox all the way. none of these fans that gbo on the outside work as the fan is sealed in the ps3 it does not suck in any outer air it just poushes the air out. i drilled holes in the bottom where the fan sits as the other end faces the board now it runs cooler than ps3 slim the slim gets hot on the bottm where the board is now.

Fan test is for when the disc gets stuck and the fan goes overdrive to push it out. Not sure if thats true but ive heard it lots of times.

After a couple of months of it working fine, i decided to buy a PS3 cooling fan with 5 fans on ( but similar in design to this one ) to avoid it happening agin.. Within using it for a couple of hours, yellow light of death again XD . Maybe I was unlucky, maybe the fan is a piece of crap!

I figured hey, I have this massive "hurricane rated" fan here on my bedroom floor, and its actually pretty quite.. why spend money on some little piece of plastic that from what I hear doesnt work so great. So after my first YLOD and diy fix, I pointed that bad boy at my PS3 and put it on high. Guess what, it worked. I almost never hear my PS3 internal fan anymore, it just never really heats up! So do yourself a favor, pull your PS3 out from under the TV, give it space and put a BIG FAN on it..

The cooling fan does not make it quieter. Infact it is noisy as hell. The best way to keep the console quiet is to use the fan during a small period each gaming session. As the fans generally will cool down after it passes through the fan.
