In a way, the characters are like Naruto characters.

Leo- Kakashi (Leader)

Mikey- Naruto (Comic relief in Orange)

Raph- Sasuke (Angsty tough guy)

Don- Shikamaru (Smart guy)

Splinter- Jiraiya (Wise mentor)

Shredder- Zabuza

Orochimaru- Krang

You mean in that it follows a pretty standard structure that a lot of shows follow. Really if you wanted to you could probably apply that same formula to a show like Friends and it would work. This makes sense, considering that the Turtles were first created as a spoof of "team heroes" like the Power Rangers. Naruto is just another derivation of the same principle of the archetype.
