@TKGaming14 Then you should be working your left hand more. A strong left hand is a good way to set up your right cross. I think you can also go after the spleen on the right side but don't quote me on that.
Warning to MMA fans who confuse MMA with selfdefence:
There are moves Mr Miletich shows such as the cover defence with the back of the hands, wrists, forearms that are not street reliable, though excellent for MMA with gloves. You don't really want to take a shot which could be augmented with metal on the back of your hand. You want your hands to be unbroken in a survival situation. Or not. Your choice.
I wouldn't trust a body shot vs a drunk/drugged/hyped attacker neither.
@danielskipp1 Thanks Daniel. We created this video as a cage fighting, MMA style product. Sorry if we didn't point that out better and thank you for your comment.
Neither kung fu fighters nor cats and other hardcore fighting animals [ like monkeys ] feel the need to fight with their hands glued to their heads "in case they get punched". They react or respond, if necessary with a block or deflection, while attempting to strike out in counterattack.
If you get hit on the hand with it in front of your face you may well end up punching yourself in the eye! My teacher had that experience in his early no-rules nogloves illegal match days.
@danielskipp1 I'm not certain that your analogy to wild animals is very valuable. Those animals, unlike humans, lack the rational mind that allows us to make reasoned judgments and implement training to teach good habits and muscle memory. Our minds are the very reason we, unlike cats and monkeys, are at the top of the food chain. Just sayin....
Covering can be a useful stopgap defence but it is really passive. In real fighting you can not afford to hang around in front of someone inviting and absorbing attacks if they are rushing you. You must extend and engage to neutralize their attack ASAP.
My teacher, trained as a boxer, then trained in jujtitsu and aikido, fought in many illegal bouts and the streets, trained with special forces, over 6th dan in hardcore Aikido. He doesn't have earmuffs on. In fact he looks open.
@danielskipp1 thats great your teacher is a badass hardcore aikido dude but Mr. Miletich has had alot of experience in different types of combat too. MMA gloves or no gloves really make no difference they are tiny and offer little protection. Pat has fought in bare fist MMA fights and done well. In this vid he is showing one aspect of many. Watch his technique 101-1 vid he talks about extending to engage his opponent. I dont understand why u are against his stuff their is worse shit on youtube
@danielskipp1 well idk where youve seen self DEFENSE but all the self defense ive seen is full of bullshit body shots and pressure point shots but realistically in a self defense situation you just want to punch the fucker in the face and then gtfo
Pat has some clean strategies.

Daniel Skipp,
I fail to see why this wouldn't be effective on the street. Body punches are more practical than skull punches on the street.

Awesome video. What a competent and articulate instructor. Folks often underestimate how technical the martial arts are.

@danielskipp1 Really? How us would you cover? Furthermore, what makes you an expert?
Just curious, because all I ever read here is a bunch crap talking and nonsense. Not saying I disagree, but offer an alternative.

@danielskipp1 I wouldnt "trust" anything vs a drugged/hyped attacker. Maybe some pepper spray.
