well the guy kinda deserved getting pushed over seemed like he was being a cocky shit and ignoring the police when telling him to move sure he dint deserve death unfortunate accident but yeah i think the copper did what most would have done
From the video I can't see how the policeman can be blamed, other than being unlucky in that a standard push led to a very bad fall (& death). Guy was dawdling in front of riot police, hands in pockets. The policeman made sure he was right behind the guy, which in 99% of cases will result in him moving the way he's facing except a bit faster. He pushed him about as hard as you push a normal door to open it. No run up, no major follow-through. A soft push, but the recipient was off-balance.
@tomsfarmboy What?, Come on though there's no fucking need in that cop pushes him crashing down for no fucking reason at all its fucking awful dude......I do fucking anything to move out of this county I swear

@americanblues05 coming from Mexico; thats really rich! most violent country in the northern hemisphere. Hmmm, keep your nose in your own business, Jose
He brought it on himself when he refused to tak ehis hands out of his pockets, as he was asked. The police had no choice but to assume he was carrying a weapon, especially since he was walking through an area extremely prone to violence. He was on a public city street, and the police had every right to find out what he was doing there. Yes, it sucks that he died, but let's keep perspective.
And for the record, chucking a bin through a Starbucks' window is not free speech.
this is a question for all the copas what do you think of that coppa in newcastle who got locked up for death by dangerous driving in hmp durham with all the lads he put away gettin tortured been slashed battered and scalded do you not think you could make a mistake and get the same normal people go to jail cushty when yous go look out
Plus this is our way of getting back at ill trained police, they have millions of cctv cameras, and not one catches a police officer do this. This is the public recording their wrong doings. Oh and do you know the public is not aloud to film Police? I wonder why?
This is a terrible act of police brutality, it scares me to think that if your caught up in a riot, through no fault of your own, there is no help and that you're on your own, how can you ask for help in a situation like that with police like that?
But to be fair not all police are like this animal, and they dont treat you like children, but thats a small minority which is not reasuring to most people.
Yes it is reassuring to see that this guy is just one bad apple.
I mean you can see in the video how his colleagues quickly remonstrated with the bad apple and went to the aid of Ian Tomolinson.
And the Met were so honest right from the start about this. They immediately pointed out that Ian died of a heart attack as he wandered down the street and how the angelic police went straight to his aid but were bombared with missiles thrown by the evil protesters.
I hope the killer doesn't get the 'soft prosecution' enjoyed by bad cops. Watch the footage & ask what happens to the baton after the victims is whacked on the legs. It seems THE KILLER BLOW WAS A VERY FORCEFUL JAB WITH THE END OF THE BATON, NOT JUST A PUSH. ANYONE TRAINED IN BATON USE WOULD BE AWARE OF THE DANGERS (NOBODY TEACHES YOU THIS WITHOUT MENTIONING THE INTERNAL BLEEDING IT CAUSES). SO WHAT WAS THE KILLERS INTENTION IF NOT MURDER? who wants to be policed by sick, cowardly sadists?
Ian Tomlinson wasnt pushed, he was jabbed really hard in the back with the end of a baton.
Such a 'blunt instrument' blow causes haemorrages & internal bleeding. A trained police officer would be aware of this... exactly what the officer intended when he made this cowardly, sadistic attack has not been revealed (or admitted), but some may say not just manslaughter, but murder charges. Dodgy cops in the cover up ... conspiracy to pervert the course of justice
im no protester but im smart enough to realise that the police force are a bunch of pussys who were bullied at school and take out their pent up anger on the innocent and like 2 harrass the weak. nice one for being such a law abiding prick and speaking ill of the dead. if u want 2 meet i'll show u what it feels like to be bullied u mothers cunt
The police rnt pussys. What this policeman did was fine, he just gently pushed the man because the man had been harrassing the police and was not doing what they asked him to the push was just meant to get him to move along not push him over and even after he did fall noone expected he would die from such a gentle fall The police do a very hard job and I have a lot of respect for them. Your a stupid twat who dosnt know anything about anything so just tries to act hard by insulting ppl. Grow up
that fella who died was no unemployed scum bag he sold news papers for a living. anyone who trys to justify the polices actions in this situation is scum. those pigs are bully boys that do what ever theyre told 2 do, even worse than protesters, protesters stand up for what they believe in.
I am pleased we are in a country where there is to be proper investigation into the events of Mr Tomlinson's death. Media hype type title of "Policeman kills Ian Tomlinson" show no respect for that process. If you want to stir up anti police propaganda, try looking at "Kenya police shoots then kicks body of dead" here on U-tube. That is what a ;police state means!
well would you not like to see Ian alive and the police know they can't act irrationally-It was all over the news, building up to this G20, they knew protesters would protest-the police aggravated the situation as Ian was not even protesting but tomdkg thinks we warmongers coz u'r either pro killing or some boris johnson brown noser :) who briefs the constable the night before "don't let the peasants get out of hand-do what ever it takes to keep em inline-" -
I have little time for Boris, (that new law to let cyclists turn left at red lights will be wildly misread as simply ok to jump lights, & lead to more deaths!). Police must be totally accountable for their actions, as should any of us. Neither do I think you are warmongers; I want the enquiry to find the truth as to what happened to Mr Tomlinson and what part the police MAY have taken in his death. I don't agree with "hype" headlines saying "killed by policeman" before that is a fact..
it seems to me that the police think they are above the law and can push and hit people well if iwas their i would have hit the pig bastard in his fukin head i would hAve been arrested but atleast i would be happy with my self for hitting the bastrd and would sleep well even if i was in the police cell coz the decent thing would have been to hit the piggggggggg!
Hey guys, there's a vid on here by The People's Scholar, Dr Boyce Watkins, commenting on police behaviour in the US. Divisions between the Authority and The People run so deep over there, that police there have discussed how scared and twitchy they get, knowing they have a job that could bring them home in a body bag.
This stuff's new to Blighty, so please everybody, take a step back, refuse to make the divisions deeper, listen to eachother and chill out about it.
he wasn't wishing his voice to be heard. He was being a pissed idiot! If someone was standing in front of your house and refusing to move would u expect the police to come and move him? Yes! Or if there was a burglar in your house?
The rest of the protesters were further back and were moving when told to do so..... he wasnt.
You're right: he wasn't wishing his voice to be heard - he wasn't even part of the protest!
He was a newspaper vendor making his way home from work .
How anyone with a brain can say that he was "standing in front of your house and refusing to move" is beyond me - that really is a leap!
And burglary? EH?
Your first comment blamed all the protesters, now you're blaming the one guy who wasn't a protester, walking home from work and attacked from behind by a cop!
You can tell from the footage he's not just walking home! He's stood directly in front of the Police refusing to move. There is also footage of him from earlier stood in front of a police van refusing to move.
What im getting at is.... the public expect the Police to do their job effectively, even if that means laying hands on someone. He was obviously hell bent on being disruptive and anti-social all day. If it was happening outside your house... you'd want it to stop.
Stick with your lefty bullshit, but the fact is he was purposely obstructing the police from doing their job. Maybe the push was a bit too hard, and it is definately unfortunate that he died. But I cant see anything wrong.
Yeah, I've seen the pictures of him earlier in the day anyone in England will tell you because they were published in every national paper..... If ignoring that fact brings more credibility to your argument then crack on.
"willingness to assume whatever you feel like".... that doesnt make sense matey boy. I like the way you turn the debate personal to take attention off of your ignorant points!
and seen as you live at the other side of the world Im guessing your only knowledge on this incident is what you've seen on youtube! Nice way to form your opinions of the world
And how can anyone with a brain think that this guy is just walking home? who in their right mind would choose to walk home (very slowly) in front of a line of riot cops trying to control a protest?
"And how can anyone with a brain think that this guy is just walking home?"
Hmmmm - that woiuld be from the various news reports, the testimony of his family, and the fact that he works at a news stanbd nearby - that he had shortly before closed up for the day.
There is NO footage of him refusing to do anything.
Kiddo: you're looking to blame the victim of uncalled for violence here, using this short video and terribly assumptive reasoning to convict him.
So when you walk home from work do you usually walk through the middle of a riot with your hand in your pockets?
And if you looked at the papers the day after it happened it showed multiple photos of him being abusive to police earlier in the day and blocking a police van. The photographer himself said that the bloke was very drunk.
In other word: you speak with absolute ignorance as to how to behave when caught in a situation like that. You don't run: you walk quietly and calmly. That is what the police advise people to do when caught up in such situations.
There is nothing wrong with how he behaved in this video.
As for your claims about drunkenness: that's rumor only, and there are no photos of him behaving badly earlier in the day.
As for you guessing my politics: you're showing your maturity there, kiddo.
But he wasn'n an innocent man walking home. Judging by photos.... he had loads of run ins with police that day. He was also extremely drunk at the time according to witnesses. @WhatsUpScrote
No, the policeman pushes him lightly at first, and then a second later, shoves him really hard.
If someone pushes you from behind while you have your hands in your pockets, you are guaranteed to fall.
Unfortunately for Tomlinson, he fell onto his head because he couldn't break the fall with his hands, causing his death.
The policeman was in the wrong, Ian wasn't even part of the "protest."

You've hit the nail on the head!
Same sort of lies came after the Stockwell Murder.
Even when an officer is Guilty, he/she will still be advised to lie and plead not guilty.
And the filth they work for will always defend them.
The police would rather have 100 dirty corrupt pigs then have 100 less.
