  • how can he love tarantino when he hates everything that tarantino did in this movie which was classic tarantino!!! this guy is oxymoronic!

  • Yeah, God forbid a movie be made without explosions and machine guns. You like Tarantino's films for the most part but don't like "unnecessary" dialogue? What is Pulp Fiction? What is Res Dogs? 80% of it is dialogue unrelated to the film's plot. You miss the point Campea or don't actually like Tarantino's films - because they're all like this.

  • I'm agree with you i couldn't stand the movie because of that joke Eli fucking Roth . for a moment i thought I'm watching american pie . Eli roth you should kill your self looool .

Jews didn't face there enemy ever , the movie was jews Fiction .. LOOOOL

  • Shitty movie, FUCKING JEWISH PROPAGANDA...

  • i fucking hate this movie it was drawn out brad pits accent was fucking annoying and the movie was stupid how the fuck do you expect me to believe that two guy are protecting Hitler

  • I agree with MovieBlogTV. I didn't enjoy Inglorious Basterds...at all. I understood what Tarantino was trying to do but the film was so slow, too long it got ridiculous. AOTC, The Abyss,2001 A Space Odysee and 2010 The Year we make contact had better pacing than this.

I wish they showed more of Christopher Waltz. I felt he was a bit underutilized. IMO

  • you missin the hole point of the movie!! maybe you are a average american who doesnt like hearing other languages

  • The point of the film is not action but dialogues...

  • what kind of arguments are those? it's like a bimbogirl says: "if you don't like twilight, it's because ur dumb or gay or something." terrible comments here....this review is so true.

  • One of the things about your review is the start when you said, "I loved an awful of his films." He's only made 6 films. ONE of the films was Kill Bill VOL.1 which was the ONLY one of his films that had that heavy doze of action. The rest of his films are Dialogue. Tarantino is not about action. He is about DIALOGUE. Pulp fiction= Amazing dialogue and a little action.Jackie Brown & Kill Bill 2= DIALOGUE! I think you've marked Tarantino as an action director from Kill Bill Vol. 1 and that's it.

  • lol at you people criticizing someone else's opinion on a film. Hey, I've got an idea, let's be assholes and mock John for giving us his opinion. Terrible comments.

  • @NASistheMAN : If one does not want to hear other people's opinion one does not post a video on utube; said that, to be offensive is always bad...- but let's face it, he does not get that Tarantino did the movie precisely around the dialogues and that he made it a bit challenging for the audience to seacrh for all the possible meanings... and the thing is not even that hard... I mean, it a worldwide released movie, not an independent one! O.o

  • As somebody that absolutely loved Inglourious Basterds and was never bored I can agree that the dialogue is in fact often self indulgent, especially in the aforementioned bar scene. But I loved the conversation and was still intrigued, feeling like I was spending a moment with old friends. Saying that this man's boredom is linked to a lack of intelligence is ironically one of the stupidest things I've ever read here. Saying "you're not smart enough" doesn't even make sense in this context people

  • QT is a genious at creating suspense scenes. That is what this movie was about.

If you were unable to catch what he was trying to do, then im afraid you dont have a clue about what you are talking about.

  • very good movie, smart characters and like the reviewer said, more talk and suspension than action. but thats tarantino.

  • to be honest i was not bored at all

  • I was not bored at all to be honest.

  • one of the most retarted reviews ive ever heard if you want action and effects go watch micheal bay movies

  • Awesome movie. But I can see how people, like this review, would not like it. It's not an action film and most people don't like dialog filled movies and people(Americans) don't like to read subtitles. I get that. But this is a QT movie. We have seen 20 years of QT films. Did you think IG would be any different?

  • omg are u serious?!?!?!? this and pulp fiction are the very best of tarantino!!! the main thing in movies of tarantino are the dialogues and not this boom here and baang there... i went to this movie and it blew me away cause i knew 90% of ig is talking and ur right soo much pointless discussions but its the same with pulp fiction also a masterpiece with pointless dialogues like the beginning of it. anyway there r some people out there who understands what tarantino is trying to deliver!!!

  • Did you want it to be transformers...?

  • It's 100% true that Inglorious Basterds has VERY little action. I think that if you like this movie, you will respect that even more. It takes much less effort to make an interesting movie with guns shooting and things exploding than it does to make an interesting movie that is 90% dialogue.

  • Uhh...you take movies way too seriously...

  • @Escott013

Its a review, its supposed to be serious

  • I liked the "long" dialogue scenes. If you want nonstop action go see gi joe or transformers 2.

  • then the film shouldnt have been promoted as an action film

  • @vitorshaolin ya thats right but i know when tarantino makes a movie u should expect a lot of dialogues and u should be interested to listen to it ^^

  • there was action, just not nonstop action

  • dont lie to your self dude

  • what do you call that fire scene at the end?

  • Comment removed

  • meh, you're being a fag.

Action scenes in the movie include:

    - that part where they rescued hugo stiglitz from jail

    - the shootout in the bar

    - the fire scene where the nazis get deservedly slaughtered

    - hugo stiglitz flashback where he kills nazi officers

    - the nazis blowing away shoshana's family at the start

Plus the lengthy dialogue preceding the action parts make them all the more enjoyable. Movies like gi joe where it's nonstop action are boring and common.

  • so is Saving Private Ryan boring, is Rambo (4)boring, Dark Knight boring, Iron Man boring. i guess all those action movies are boring and common. by the way your mom doesnt think im a fag

  • Yeah most of those action movies are boring and common. Especially dark knight. I was expecting more.

Turns out, it was just christian "I want you off the fucking set" bale growling like a little kid, with nothing original or interesting in any way.

    ps you're still gay!

  • great review. you voiced everything perfectly. i agree with you 110%

  • I love the dialogues and the one in the pub was some of the best shit I've ever seen!

  • damn this guy is almost exactly ME after my FIRST viewing of basterds. how does no one go mad at the bits in trailers that aint in the movie they should be in there funny ppl did that too ne way. the movie is verygood after you see it afew times, this shows tarantinos genius at teh great bits and the opening scene with landa is my fave scene all year, the scene in the pub with shossana and danny bruhl is pointless and in the cafe with groebbles untill landa shows up which melanie was great

  • so if the scenes with melanie laurent and daniel bruhl are edited then is a lot better, and if stiglitz did more it be better, but all the bits with waltz or pitt are incredible and when they finally meet it sets up sore face funny moment. bonjourno. i agree again with this guy i wish sally menke had bigger balls and said look QT you dont need 3 scenes of massive dialogue, he done it on death proof it didnt work too well then he done it AGAIN. just learn, i dont want QT to be like michael bay

  • i just want him to fullfill the promise he has, and focus maybe more on being al ittle hiumble anda little more mellow

  • man you are right on about the bad guy he was classic........

  • Dude, I liked it. I saw it twice, and bought the DVD.

  • It's amazing that people are shocked that this movie was dialogue driven....the thing i loved about this movie was the fact that the suspense was good i was holding my breath during some parts. Wasn't his best but....i liked it.

  • i actually liked this movie but didnt love it

  • Redneck falls for actiontrailer and gets all dissapointed because he couldn't understand the asskicking conversations. This movie is unexplainable for me. It just... Kicks ass. :3

  • that gun scene was in the movie?, were u busy touching urself during that part? hahahaha such a great movie

  • Completely disagree with you. I absolutely loved this film, a lot more than I thought I would. QT films are usually a hit or miss for me. Anyways, this film just took me by surprise. After reading several reviews claiming this is a dialogue driven film, I knew what to expect. Maybe that made me enjoy it a lot more. It was a little too long, and it could have been cut a little, but I was never really bored with it. The performances were AMAZING & I loved seeing the plot unfold.

    Overall: 8.5/10

  • Love the bar scene

Pulp, Dogs and Basterds are the best QT films

  • be that as it may

  • spot on dude..this movie is very, very bad

  • My favorite Tarintino's movies:

    1. Kill Bill

    2. Kill Bill 2

    3. Planet Terror

    4. Pulp Fiction

    5. Inglourious Basterds

    6. Death Proof

  • Planet Terror is not a Tarantino film. It's a Robert Rodriguez movie

  • Tarintino didnt make Planet Terror

  • Tarantino is a genius at dialogue and it does play an important part in the movie. If you can't appreciate that then I find it hard to believe the reviewer is an actual Tarantino fan. That's all I can say without being rude.

  • the third act was pretty boring

  • The movie is awesome, but i really hate to admit it, it is pretty long and sometimes boring.

  • I think the long scenes were great for character development. I loved most of the dialogue, and I suppose I'm more of a patient person than most.

  • Why is everyone getting pissed at Campea, he is entitled to his opinion as are you. If you liked the film YOU liked it that doesn't mean everyone has to. The film is slow. That's not a matter of opinion it's just a fact.

  • dissagreed, I luv the mike myers (fake accent) cameo, and the basement bar, was rly rly rly funny even if it is long

  • Wrong, Campea, just wrong.

  • Eli roth i thought did a very good job in the movie

  • what a moron to think that all you expect from Tarantino is just action. Honestly, it seems like you never seen any of his movies. He tells a tale of revenge, and the action is crisp and detailed. If you got bored, you're obviously not a fan.

  • Agreed, LOVED this film. And since the action in this film is so small yet so detailed it stuck in my mind for weeks. This guy says that Tarantino is back... he never left

  • I agree with the british guy, he could've been removed from the movie, but other than that it was great.

  • Omg thank you! Someone finally agrees that this movie is not all that people think of it to be.

That bar scene had me tearing my hair out cause of sheer boredom, i honestly could not take it. And mike myers? He was in the film for about two minutes tops, seriously it was just unecessary, so much of the film was just that.

Though I do agree that the actor who played the SS agent, Christopher Walts gave a superb performance.

It was undoubtedly one of the worst films I have watched this year.

  • Obviously you are to stupid for this movie. Go watch G.I Joe.

  • boring? well im sry that u only have the attention span of a mentally disabled rodent

  • hey, you got a new tweet at 5:36 =)

anyways, I completely disagree with you. this movie was not boring AT ALL. The bar scene? i lOVED it. I loved every single moment. The dialogues, the music, etc.

But I think youre misleading your viewers. Not every single action scene is in the trailer. The first scene, and what happened at the movie premiere are 2 scenes that make this movie totally worth it for action/thrills fans like me. This is Tarantino's best, imho.

  • You need to buy some hemorrhoid cream or something. This is one of the worst reviews you've ever done, have some freaking patience with the movie, it was awesome.

  • Or keep your own opinion and let others have their own. Maybe you need the hemorrhoid cream since you're so unwilling to.

  • hey man your review was right on. I basically felt like i paid 10 dollars for a preview. Every thing good in the moviw was on the preview. Your a great film critic. You speak the truth bro. good job keep em coming. I was somewhat dissapointed from quentin on the movie

  • His best film since Pulp Fiction, imo. Exceeds the Bills, RD, and Jackie Brown.

    Loved it, everythinga bout it.

  • i disagree..i loved the whole film esp the dialogues. i really felt for the characters and the length of the movie wasn't a problem to me at all. it's one of my most favorite films now.

  • Long dialogues are the main ingredient in tarrentino flicks man.

  • Are you fuckign serious. You went and watched a tarrentino movie and yoru complaining that there was to much dialouge? That is what he is known for, that is what make shis films so fantastic. The greatest scenes of Pulp Fiction were the conversations. Jackie Brown was pretty much nothing but talking and that film was incredible. I have not seen inglourias basterds yet so i can bach you to much but dude, you can not watch a tarrentino film and complain about the dialouge. That is all.

  • watch your mouth dude

  • you sir are an idiot

  • no bad guy can beat dennis hopper's bad guy, Howard Payne in Speed

  • Great review.

I adore Tarantino's movies and personally loved this one, I also quite enjoyed Death Proof. I don't mind the heavy dialogue it makes me feel like I am getting to know the characters more and really seeing their personalities and how the interact with each other. I do agree that some scenes could have been chopped in half but I had to go to the bathroom a couple of times so it was great to be able to come back and pick up where i left off :D.

    Also Mélanie Laurent was perfection.

  • Good review.

  • It's great to see a legitimate negative review of this movie. I felt almost exactly the same way.

  • Hey man....stay off the sugar!

  • people with A.D.D. should not see OR REVIEW this movie.

  • It's getting really boring hearing people say films with lots of talking are boring. The dialogue was not self-indulgent at all, infact.. probably the most self-indulgent he's ever done. Each scene which was so-called "boring" built the tension further and further, but if you're not smart enough, you won't pick up on that. Hey, I've got an idea, let's get some big CGI explosions in and hot chicks flipping all over the joint, and then it will be a much better movie. Terrible review.

  • People who didn't like this movie don't understand what type of movies Quentin Tarantino makes. They're smart films. Dumb people won't understand it.

  • I perfectly understand the type of movies QT makes because I happen to love all of them dearly (including 'Jackie Brown' & certain aspects of 'Death Proof'). 'IB' is the only unfortunate exception in my case. And even if you're determined to find a solemn underlying message in it, I'll still claim that the message alone does not make up for a mediocre plot & uninspired, forgettable dialogue.

  • It's a smart movie. It's very clever. Some people are just too dumb to really look at each aspect of the movie. It's not centered on the Basterds. It's centered on Hans Landen and Shosanna. It's a fucking spaghetti western for shits sake. QT said it himself.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green yup, he makes smart films for smart people, that's why drunk college frat boys everywhere get posters from his movies to hang right next to their "boondock saints" poster... come on man, I love his films, but you aint kidding anyone. His movies are fucking amazing, but never because they're smart.

  • @BlueStrikeP I made that comment a year ago, dude. But let's be honest. QT's shit doesn't really hold a "normal" person's attention. You know, the whole back and forth plot. They're usually never in chronological order.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green fair enough

  • I have to agree with the review. The film didn't work for me as a comedy because I only smiled about 4 times (whereas 'Pulp Fiction' had me in stitches throughout). It didn't work as a drama either as I didn't care about any of the characters (including Shosanna) which resulted in the much-touted suspense element being lost on me. The bottom line is, I didn't feel entertained and that's my major problem with 'IB'. No big deal, I'll wait for QT's next offering just the same.

  • I'm sorry, you're an idiot and you shouldn't be reviewing movies.

  • Take your ritalin

  • I really dug this movie, and I was surprised how 'un-boring' I found it.

  • I loved the dialogue and even if you think wasn't action packed (though i don't agree with that), well so what? Is that really what you need to enjoy a film?

  • Inglourious Basterds is indeed an enjoyable classic tarantino film. My video review is on my page.

  • Check out Movieman - he is awesome!

  • Are you going to review Halloween 2? I enjoy your reviews.

  • I agree totally with this review I like Tarantino movies in general but the film was about 30 minutes to long and far too much padding. good review.

  • This reviewer is a fucking dumbass, this movie is one of the movies that i am going to buy, and i only have a few movies because i only buy good ones, i give this movie an easy 10/10

  • John Campea is far from a dumbass, actually, he knows what he's talking about in every video. You really don't. Inglorious Basterds is half a good movie, and it's not an easy 10/10. Films that are 10s is the Godfather and Citizen Kane.

If you really like good movies, you'd instantly know the flaws with this one.

  • it seems like all he wants is pure action and funny, hes asking for too much, childish in my opinion

  • You obviously are some one who would lick Tarantinos shit if you could, this review is spot on ,well called on every point!!!

  • this is my second favorite tarrantino flim of all time. it was thoroughly entertaining, had some great acting, and brought back my faith in quentin. i agree with you that Death Proof wasn't his best work, hell it was his worst, but i feel that the dialogue for this film was entertaining and the suspense that was in a couple of the scenes, were breathtaking. i will not hesitate to say that this is the best movie that i've seen so far this year. btw, eli roth wasn't THAT bad.

  • This reviewer is a dipshit. I don't need to explain why.

  • Comment removed

  • since it takes no talent or skill become a bad director or worst in the industry I want you to get Brad Pitt in your movie and have your movie rated R and make 37 million opening weekend. I also want you to make a better movie then Pulp Fiction and have it win Oscar for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen like Pulp Fiction did.......lol

  • I hate Quentin Tarantino movies. Each and every single one of them sucks. Fuck Quentin Tarantino, he is the worst director in the industry. Sorry Guys.

  • Disagreed. I was only bored for maybe 2 minutes. As opposed to Transformers 2 where I was bored every second.

  • So you loved Transformers but found this boring?! How am I not surprised.....

  • I agree with you about the bar scene in the basement. that could have had a good 10 min. cut off. However, even thogh it was long. that was one of the best scenes in the movie, if not the best. The films running time is long, but the great actors and good plot keeps you hooked in that its no big deal. I loved this movie and suggest it to anyone who loves tarantino movies or a good movie, period! :)

  • i believe Hans was the same french guy in the Matrix Reloaded movie

  • when has a tarantino movie ever been packed with action? look.. long conversations and amazing dialogue is what tarantino is all about. so if you want to see a new die hard movie don't go see this and don't blame the trailers for making you think that there is a lot of action because you should be able to think for yourself and not be a robot and belive everything on TV..

  • Your review of the movie was as you described the movie: long and a lot of unnecessary commentary. However, the movie does not fit what you described or critiqued it as being. This movie was great from beginning to end. The conversations were the real action in this movie, and it's sad that you failed to recognize this. I think, as you noted, your expectations were wholly unrealistic and it's unfair that you let that guide your review.

  • Oh god I loved thhis movie! I love Tarantino and he did not dissapoint with this! The dialouge was what I expected and it was very suspenseful, and also very funny at times. The ending is a classic Tarantino ending, and it feels so good. Loved it.

  • wow i thought exactually the same

  • also I love the bar scean had me on pins and needles. In fact at the theater I went to after the movie everybody gave it thundering sounds of claping hands

  • I just came back from the movie and I thought it was a great movie. Yes the trailers made me think it was going to be some type of dirty dozen war movie but I soon saw that it was not going to be that type of movie and adapted to a dialog. I thought the dialog in this movie was very good and it had me on th edge. This movie was very clever and it kept me guessing. great acting ,,great everything. will be a classic. John I agree with you most of the time but I disagree with you on this one.

  • Thank you for the review. The one thing that has always separated Tarantino's movies from the rest is the dialog. It is always the element that fascinates me the most. That's why I loved pulp fiction, reservoir dogs and death proof, and from what you've said, I'm going to love this one too. Can't wait to see it! :)

  • i disgree highly. i thought the movie was wonderfully entertaining. any fan of tarantino knows the true meatiness, the true soul of his films are the character-driven dialogue. the tension he created in the bar scene was superb. to me, the long dialogue was in no way alienating; despite the suspense, it seemed almost warm and inviting, it swept me into the fantasy of the film

  • yeah, i want a district 9 review too :)

  • I disagree. I loved every minute of it and it had great diologue.

  • review District 9!!!! D :

  • 8.9/10 in my opinion :]

  • Hey John,

I agree on a lot of your points although I was much more lenient and enjoyed the film. I actually though Mike Meyers redeemed it after the godawful mess that is Love Guru.

Thanks for the review. I would give it like a 7/10

  • I am known to have very high standards in movies, and I thought that this movie was very good. I disagree with your analyses of this movie. I understand the flaws, I know they're there and you named off a few, but I still think it was an entertaining movie.

  • I thought the movie was great. You thought the movie was boring, I found it very tense. Like the bar scene was very tense and not boring to me. I thought Eli Roth and Mike Myers were good. Well everyone has there own opinions. I give this movie a 8.5 out of 10.

  • it was an excellent movie 5/5 stars

    not your review

    the movie

  • Thanks for taking one for the movie fans. I'll Netflix Inglourious Basterds

  • IF you really like WWII stories will you like this film???

  • Can't say I expected much from this movie.
