  • The superphaser, thats what your using for the intro effect right?? what do you have the knobs set to number 1?? number two is that the only effect you have on? And three what kinda amp are you using? I have a Line 6 Spider 3 with the basic 4 models and am having a hard time recreating that tone... You nailed it perfectly and Ive always tried to figure out exactly how to get that tone, its one of their sickest noise effects in my opinion, btw all these covers are great for the record... amazing.

  • That was sweet dude! great job!

  • what are you doing with that knob when you play the phased chord?

  • well done. are you sure he doesnt do this in drop d?

  • thanks for the reply..i ended up goin with the digitech rp 1000 ..it seemed like more bang for my buck...will eventually add on...keep jammin bro....peace

  • hey bro u jam...ive been tryin to find some good pedals but dont no what to get..ive beenn playing everyday for 8months straight and plan to play till i die..what effects and pedals do you use?? im not to familar with it but wanna be able to create the same sounds as u ..like what i really wanna do is say play with distortion but have the echo sound or any effect playing at the same time..ne feed back would be great..keep rockin bro..thanks again

  • @txmade89 My favorite pedals in my rig are the Boss PH-2 Super Phaser, and the MXR Phase 90, both are pretty important to creating that "Incubus-y" sound. For distortion/overdrive I would find an amp with a good overdrive channel, distortion pedals just don't do the job in my experience. If you're just starting to build your pedal collection I would recommend beginning with a delay pedal (Boss delay is a good reasonably priced option) and some kind of modulation like a phaser or flanger.

  • what amp are you using?

  • dude were did u get your tabs from i want to know so i can do a cover like u

and i want to know whats ur settings for your phaser pedal

  • amazing dude

  • Wow, i am like astonished. Incubus is my #1 favorite band and you do the covers beautifuly please, please keep it up. :D

  • where did you sent me the link ?

  • im sorry, you answered me but i didnt find the link of the interview :/

  • ):

  • heyy guys! thank you for answering me everything, i just was wondering which setting of the ph-2 do u use in this song? because i have been trying to get the phaser sound but i cant get it !! xd, please, ill be glad if you answer me again (: and sorry for being asking and asking !

  • shit. your effect is awesome! what gadget are you using men?

  • i wanna cover a incubus song but i only have a distortion pedal which ones could i cover?

  • @scsbaseball You could do Privilege, Drive, Circles, 11am or others that don't really involve any effects.

  • SHIT!!

  • what the chords is?

  • are you using the neck or bridge pickup?

  • @sipasabayag Neck pickup always, except in our Anna Molly video, which was a bad decision in retrospect...

  • what are your settings on the phase and delay man?

    this sounds fantastic.

  • all of ur distortion comes the amp? no pedals?

    very nice tone man

  • @electricguitar You are correct sir

  • @draiklord89 haha yeah I think he is !

  • So I looked up tabs for this and it says I need to play in drop D tuning. But when you play it, your hand positions are different than mine. I only talking about the intro by the way. And obviously you're having a lot more success than I am. How do you play this?

  • @trumpetking11 Not in drop D tuning. It's just standard tuning, that tab probably has the basic chords right, just in the wrong position. See if you can figure it out from there and get back to me.

  • hi again

an qestion, in the begin you play with one o two PH-2?? more RV-3???

i Still unknow setting Ph-2 (depth, rate etc)

    please asnwered me

    greetings

  • goooooood!

  • are you playing the "good byyeeeeeeeeeee!" part right?....i learned it a diff. way, but im also junk

  • what model ibanez is that? it's got a nice sound to it. ur hecka lucky to have run into that. i have a hard as hell time running into nice lefty models. btw, where'd u get the backing?

  • @Jonnie8791 It's an SZ520QML, they stopped making them a few years ago which is a shame. The backdrop is just some black cloth that used to be used for taking photos

  • @IncubusCoverProject my fault dude, i meant backing track lol

  • @Jonnie8791 Oh, haha. Yeah it's just the album version of the song...hence Sony's flagging of our videos...

  • what delay pedal are you using ?

  • You make very nice covers, I'm learning bass so I just want to play these songs of Incubus haha :D

  • great cover, nice effects... there's a guy Cobus Potgieter.. he does a great covers too.. drums covers from a lot of bands.. find him..

    hugs dude

  • Dude.... ALL of your covers are BADASS.

Saludos From Spain.

    Ritchie

  • brooo, u play sooooo gooodd!!!!! mad props to u!!!!

  • Awesome work, great help to my guitarist. Next project for you guys should be tabbing it all out for us people on the internet.

  • first song of incubus i ever learned =D anyways, keep up the awesome work!! and hey can u send me a link to the tabs of circles?

  • Excellent! can you tell me how to playback the music without the guitar track?

  • Guitar's still there man, I just turned the original track down a little.

  • @IncubusCoverProject PLEASE TELL ME WHAT DISTORTION PEDAL YOU USE

  • It's just the overdrive channel on the amp, which is a Marshall MG100HDFX, no other effects added to it.

  • @IncubusCoverProject just that!? only one pedal?

  • @MrLogan2martin For the distortion yeah, there's just the channel switcher to change our amp from the clean channel to the overdrive channel.

  • Que tal Hermano, Excelente, Cover, te felicito muy buena Utilización de los Efectos.

  • Love the cover.

Would you rate this song as hard to play out of most incubus songs?

  • Ummm...not really. It's fairly easy as far Incubus songs go, just a few simple chords put together, nothing too fast.

  • Very good....

  • spot on man

  • any one know where i can get good tabs for this song

  • true cover even strummin like mike from the elbow nice work on this and all your covers incubus is forever the best band

  • good cover man.i didit on accoustic, cus my electric get problem its easier on electric just motion the vol

  • Mike Einziger is da bomb. Incubus rox!

  • I apologize. I meant to refer to the guitar sound during the build up to the chorus. when you're strumming the A chord

  • I am very sorry, I just noticed your comment D: Anyway, on my amp, which is a Marshall MG100HDFX, the clean channel has a "Crunch" button, so that is pushed in to put the amp in Crunch mode, and then it's just a matter of tweaking the knobs until you have thick, buttery tone. Oh, and I am also using the neck pickup of my guitar.

  • so u dont use any distortion or overdrive to make the sound thick???if so, what can u preffer if i dont have any crunch on my amp??i do use a simple amp setup

  • You could use a Boss DS-1 Distortion at a low setting, just to give you sound a little more kick. You could also try a Boss Blues Driver, I think they sound a little thicker than the distortion pedals.

  • I use a TS-808...it works great for this kind of sound.

  • read de description

  • how do you make your clean channel sound like that?

  • he has a pedal and put delay

  • That was pretty tight dude! Nice job. Thanks for the inspiration and technique

  • i just noticed, you're left handed.. cool ^^

  • Great cover bro!

  • dude i know that ur mike eniziger with ur facehidden!!!!

  • hahahahah.. that's funny

  • @draiklord89 Can't be mike, he doesn't have a fro hahahahha

  • what kind of distortion pedal do you use?

  • No pedal, it's the overdrive channel on the amp.

  • Hell yeah!!

  • I can't get over how brilliant this is...I never really considered the fact that most of the sounds on the original recording actually come from a guitar. I had no idea you could do that kinda stuff with a guitar. Guess that's what I get for never really learning to play electric.

  • wow!

    awesoooomeee!!!

    dude,

    r u Mike Einziger?

    daamn!!

    so f*ckin good!

  • does ph-3 effects compatible to the song?or better use ph-2?

  • The PH-2 sounds way better, but it's possible to use a PH-3 and get a similar sound.

  • I decided to pick up the phase 90..

Someday you are going to be contacted by the band, if you haven't already man. Good luck ;)

  • I've noticed mike also uses a mxr phase 90. I can't find a PH-2 locally and i've read the PH-3's sound quality is not very good. Could I get by with the phase 90?

  • No, the Phase 90 has a vastly different sound from the PH-2. if you want to compare, just listen to the beginning of Nowhere Fast, or most of Warning, he uses the Phase 90 in those songs.

  • absolutely perfect... could I achieve this effect with a PH-2 and a Carbon copy delay? That is absolutely awesome...

  • As long as you've got the PH-2 you should be able to. I don't think the delay pedal really matters...

  • that opening chord hurts my fingers like a bitch

  • Very nice

  • absolutely flawless. this is just mind blowing, excellent work!

  • ibanez sz?

  • Yes indeed.

  • i smewhat got the impression of the phser-delay effect but i'm jst using a 707II icn't get enough delay for it to sustain longer to fit the time.any suggestions will really help.thanks!!what you did is really cool!!!

  • Get a Boss CS-3 Compression/Sustainer pedal, it will do the trick.

  • coool eres grande...

  • You are a fucking master!

  • this vid and guy kix ass

i can play this on bass

    pretty easy in my opinion

  • Fuckin' nailed it. Where are you located, bro?!

  • great job man. i really dig this project alot :) and this video helped to see somebody play it out (well at least the phaser parts a little) thanks and keep it up (if your still working on this)

  • hi man, exelent, but, you forgot play the mxr phased 90 in the second time of the chorus song

  • Awesome man, perfect effects!!

  • very nice cover man..uhmm..btw i like ur effect transitions from clean tone to distortion and to other fx and vice versa, what tools do u use to get the smooth transitions..like in most windows mp3 players they let you enable 'crossfading' between songs..did u get what i'm trying to ask here, i'm new to guitar effects..i've read ur effects list, does it do the job alone? ur reply wud be a great help for a composer like me, thanks in advance..!

  • Transitions are somewhat complicated...in this case, they sound particularly smooth because the Boss PH-2 Super Phaser doesn't have any audio dropout when you kick it on and off. For pedals that have a short cutout period, you sort of have to play "through" if you get my meaning...like, make enough other noise so that the effects transitions sound smooth.

  • where did you get the tabs?

    thanks!

  • could you tell me what kind of effects did you use.....for the clean part.... and the weird phaser with something

  • hey, this would really help:

I realize what effects you used, but not exactly sure which ones in which part, and if used on what settings. would really appreciate it. much respect.

    cheers

  • nice sound, well played man.

  • flawless

  • in which parts of the song do you use the delay?

    oh btw awesome cover!

  • Just the verse.

  • Thank you now i know how to plays this im a lefty as well all the tabs i find are shit btw should i get a ph-2????

  • Depends on your preference. I've got a PH-2 and a PH-3 and I like the variety that both have to offer.

  • man do you play it with a boss phaser shifter???

  • Look at the effects list to the right of the video.
