This remark does not make sense. It's after all Paco's fandango. Paco's version by the way is flawless, too. It is a bit slower but more elegant and expressive, because of his inimitable touch and perfect control of tone. Goryachev's technique is impressive, but before he can match or even replace Paco de Lucia (or Sabicas for that matter) he has a long way to go.
I completely agree...paco is the greatest out there but might I ask one question..where could i find an excelellent recording of paco playing his fandango?
Paco's version in the form Goryachev is playing here, is the live version in Madrid, 1975:"paco de lucia en vivo desde el teatro real" P 1975 Polygram Iberia, SA; issued as an AAD CD by PHILIPS 9838 381-2 printed in West Germany. The recording quality is quite bad, but the music is great. I hope this info will help you.
I hope you aren't suggesting this was FAKE. Dude this guy is pretty incredible & you can hear EVERY nuance of his playing, listen to him slap the guitar when he's really gettin on it. Esteban look out cause this dude KILLS it. Great right hand stuff goin on through the whole piece. WOW!!!

So true. As impressive as it was from a technical perspective, it just seemed a little too clinical for the soul. I've heard far less complicated pieces played, so exquisitely, that that quite simply take me to a different place.
I've been trying to learn the flamenco finger picking. Is there a quick way to practice this? Also, is there a good way to practice it without a guitar?

It will be ineresting to see what happens and what style he will eventually develop...Anyway, how cool is it to be able to play ANYthing you want?!
I've read some comments saying this guy lacks emotion or his music is "cold". Surely it is impossible to achieve this level of mastery if one does not have a great deal of passion for the art. Please show this guy the respect he deserves.
I concur, he wouldn't be this good if he didn't love what he was doing. His emotion is displayed through his PLAYING, not his facial expressions. Not every guitarist has to be as animated as Julian Bream.

You guys, no one can deny the fact that the Spanish players are the best. This Russian guy is no threat to the Spanish pioneers, he is a youngster who is following their foot steps.
I am not sure why this comment has received thumbs down!!! can someone explain please? Grisha is a young fantastic player but I don't see the comment above being harmful at all to him.
I guess perhaps he was a little harsh on Grisha to imply that he will never be as good as the Spanish pioneers! At least that is what I thought he said.
An interesting debate held below and thankfully held in good tone and has not become abusive.I happen to agree with Mencado myself and also must be deeply insecure because i have criticised G,though only constructively and indeed think he is phenomenal technically but lacks many other quality's which he can learn,to a degree and some are endowed naturally. But all in all i think we all agree he is pretty amazing and still has a good way to go with a wonderful future.
This is Grigory Goryachev, a man from St. Petersburg Russia. He started musuc at the age of 8 coached by his father Demitri Goryachev, a composer. Grisha is his nick name, he is currently studying music in Boston, MA. USA
Was in Sevilla last week in a guitar shop. Nearly bought a very fine instrument indeed. Couldn't in the end. Would have died a very sad man 'cos I'd never play as well as this man if he had a serious hangocver and if he had his left hand was in a sling. Will just listen to, and watch, him and be consoled I maybe could have done once. The man's a star.
I always thought that the use of 'Da Capo' was for guitarists who were too lazy to learn the chords in another key but I'm sure I was wrong now, if someone like this employs it...
Mr. Userx100, How about you pay something here so we enjoy your expression of emotion? or is it that you can only make comments, annd can't play the guitar yourself?

I agree.. Out of all of the different players ive watched so far.. His music seems cold... No emotion..Great Talent for sure..Wish i had the same level of talent.

P.S.- Sorry, I can't define emotion, but I know it when I feel it. All I can say about that is, the more the singer/ musician feels it, the more I do.
Ok,this is not a gypsy debate. But how you can say he plays with no emotion is absurd, but that's your perogative I suppose.Whenever exceptional talent emerges there are always those waiting to pick flaws, who are basically insecure people. As I said before(which you ignored), P de lucia thought highly enough to help him get his visa to go to USA.Enough said.
Are you saying that, because I have a particularly discriminating sense of hearing I am insecure? Or is that the general rule for anyone who disagrees with you? As for the visa bit, I ignored it because it was beside the point. We are talking about a specific video here. In any case, that does not mean that he has done so here.
Juan Habichuela- Granaina (Flamenco Guitar)- Fantastic
I still think when it comes to Flamenco, Grisha has the most lethal right hand save Paco De Lucia. For classical guitar, it is Segovia, Romero, Williams, and Yepes.

Paco Cepero - Bulerias (Flamenco Guitar)- Fantastic
Juan Habichuela- Granaina (Flamenco Guitar)- Fantastic
I still think when it comes to Flamenco, Grisha has the most lethal right hand save Paco De Lucia. For classical guitar, it is Segovia, Romero, Williams, and Yepes.

I just went to see his concert at the Historical Hoover Theater in San Jose! He's like Paco De Lucia the legend himself! Amazing technique!

That guy is brilliant and anyone who has anything bad to say about him is obviously jealous. He is soooooooo good.
