I hadn't put much thought into what a furry really IS until recently when a friend asked me about a mutual friend who happens to be one. It occured to me I didn't really know exactly.

What I had once been told is that, in the way that trans people feel they were born into the wrong sex, furries feel they were born into the wrong species. I was very young and by now realize that isn't all furries. But for how much of the furry community would you say that sentiment applies?

There is a part of the fandom that is sick and wrong, thinking that raping animals is ok or that the only way to call yourself furry is to have sex in a fursuit. There is also a sexuality called zoosexual, which is better than just bestiality, but still looked down upon in society.
