It's a nasal sound made in the glottal part of the throat, whereas "g" is a velar stop (farther back, and a different method of articulation). I don't say this to criticize Momoko's English - she's adorable - but just so you know. If you pay attention, you'll realize - supposing you are a native or fluent English speaker - that you don't pronounce any "g" in word final "ng" spellings either.

@millancad which is why i think the alphabet is not a good system for representing english, we are a germanic language using a latin script. i think we should invent new letters for sounds which are distinct from the letters representing them ( the ch sound sounds nothing like a c or an h, and sh doesn't sound like an s or an h, and there are many other sounds which are badly represented by latin letters) what is your opinion on this?

@nero2kewl While I agree with you that it's not an excellent representation of the sounds in English, the effort to invent and integrate new symbols into the alphabet would be, I think, too much trouble for too little benefit. The idiosyncrasies of English orthography certainly cause difficulty in spelling and reading for children, second language speakers, and even native adults, but considering that we can't so much as switch to metric in America, I doubt new letters would be welcomed.
