Most of the time they're performing in front of a bunch of drunks at a comedy club and if they're act isn't good than they get shit on, so its usually a good test of a comedian to see how they react to hecklers. To plant a couple of fake hecklers in your audience so you can use pre-written material to seem witty and clever is like saying professional wrestlers are the best fighters in the world.
