I have every Van Halen album since DLR to Sammy Hagar.I know that he can write songs about different themes, but what I'm trying to tell you is that he writes about simple stuff, lots of love and things that anyone can write. David has a more extense catalog of songs that really mean something.Listen to Mean Street. I know that he has lousy songs too, but who doesn't.Any way I like Sammy too, I love Human Being and Poundcake, but as a solo artist more than the VH frontman.David is the man.

last grab? dude, they weren't even in Van Halen when this was performed. Anthony was a "hired gun" on the 2004 tour, and i read somewhere that Eddie wanted him out after a couple of albums.

its not his "last grab" at playing big, him and sammy hagar are kickin' it, and they're doing a pretty fine job of it. Eddie's back in rehab, so we're basically back to square one!

I also read that Eddie wanted Michael out of the band for a while. On Michael's wikipedia page (not sure how true it is), it even states that Eddie did not want Michael on the reunion tour in 2004. But, Sammy refused to join the reunion unless Michael was there. At least Sammy is loyal.

That said, this performance was not his best at all.

Alex's is a solid drummer and well entrenched in rock history for being an integral part of VH, but I don't know if I would put him ahead or behind Anton Fig in regard to flat out drumming ability. Just my take.
