I had a '86 highly modified GN and I miss it to death. The ass-end would slide out at 100km/hr when I punched it. It was DANGEROUS. I only sold it cause it always needed tuning because it was so modified - and I just hated having to work on it 2 hrs for every 1 hr of runtime. You have an SRT-4? A Neon or a Calibre? They are both fast m.f's

Actually that is incorrect...

In stock form:

1986 Buick Regal Grand National 4.9 13.9

2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4 5.3 13.9

Those numbers are unaltered numbers for stock cars just off the showroom floors.

NOW, the GNX, that's a different story:

1987 Buick Regal GNX 4.7 13.5

The GNX was actually faster than the Corvette that year, which led some people to believe that was why GM cancelled the car :)

i got a 87 g.n. in resto now... but ill admit, when i see a stock srt-4 smoking a mustang, you kinda just gotta shake ur head... and i REALLY wished they would have dropped the neon name... theres just something very unmasculin about being a guy and having a car named "neon" but dodge did the homework when they came out with there srt lines... big ups to dodge for that..

Lol, well Dodge tried to call it, "SRT-4" and didn't put any Neon badges on the car or in the car manual. And I remember when I first saw it at the car show and asked the guy in the booth about it, he took offense when I called it a "Neon." But we all know it's a Neon. I hate that too. But when I brought my car, I wanted something fast and something easy to tune. I wanted a 2003 Cobra SVT but i couldn't afford it at the time so I got the Neon.

yo i am nut bustin on the srt-4 in no way.. you should have seen the look on my face when i saw my 1st srt-4 smoke a stang... kinda like deer in headlights !!! but the 03 svt cobra had to be one of the best "semi-affordable " stangs they ever produced, what was it 390 h.p. stock ? and when i say semi-affordable, i mean compared to the special edition stangs of today... shelbys, ect.. but anyway, ive seen some srt-4's that are no f@ckin joke..

Yeah, I'm definately going to get an 03 SVT Cobra soon. I'm keeping my Neon but I want a Cobra. I like the Cobras better than the new Shelbys out.

yeah esp when i saw the road test of the new shelby, and they dyno'd it and it only came out to like 480 h.p. then they took a sharpie marker and put "almost" above the g.t. 500 badge... and the g.t. 500 is in the same catagory as the z06 in priceing to me.. not very affordable to everyday people.. screw shelby, bring back the svt team.. at least there cars "and trucks" were semi-affordable..

@cavscoutmp - Now that the new Buick Regal is out - There is talk from some magazines that in the next couple of years they will be offering a turbo Regal with the GN moniker in North America. I can't wait !!! I just hope its not a big disappointment.
